Diane Feinstein has passed away. Am I the only one who thinks she would be alive today if the Democrats had allowed here to resign when she was too ill to attend congress? It was clear from her public appearance that she was not in control and didn't even know where she was or what she was doing. The stresses involved in her travel and schedule no doubt contributed to her death. Sure she was declining and was going to die soon but it appears to me she was killed by the Democrats in their effort to retain power in the Senate. About the only good thing the Democrats did was not steal her SS checks... maybe. Otherwise how is this different from the stories of elder abuse where a son or daughter abuses their parent and keeps cashing their SS check while the parent lays in a messy bed without food or care. They put people like that in jail don't they?

I suspect Newsom is pondering appointing himself as senator. It would make him a shoe-in for the election. And honestly a Senator's position is better than the president's. A lot of power, opportunity to set yourself and your family up with power and money. Not a hotseat where everything you do is under a microscope and you can keep that power for decades.

The Republicans helped force the issue by refusing to allow a temporary replacement for her on the Judiciary Committee per her request.

Pelosi was in Feinstein's business ordering her around like a crazy child ordering her poor infirm parent around. Pelosi didn't want to give up that extra-house power. She literally killed Feinstein and you blame Republicans because they didn't want to make changes to the Senate rules to allow Pelosi to keep that power.

Feinstein was in the Senate, not the House. Nor is Pelosi the Speaker.

OneGuy: and you blame Republicans because they didn't want to make changes to the Senate rules to allow Pelosi to keep that power.

Feinstein didn't want to resign, but asked the Senate for a temporary replacement during her recovery. It would not have required a change in rules, just a vote for a resolution.

When Feinstein was out sick for an extended period, it was to the Democrats advantage that Feinstein resign and be replaced, so they would have a voting majority on the Judiciary committee. Some Democrats did call for her to resign, but most did not want to push the issue out of courtesy. Feinstein asked the Senate to allow a temporary replacement while she was recovering from her illness, but she didn’t want to resign.

It is a fait accompli that Trump will be the Republican candidate and Biden will be the Democrat candidate. However, I will bet even money that actually neither one will be the candidate from their party. The Democrats cannot let Trump win. He is much wiser this time in the ways of DC and would fire all the usual suspects in his first hour and then appoint attack dog secretaries to all the federal departments to dig up and expose all the wrong doing. Somehow, someway Trump will be taken out.

As for Biden, that's a no brainer, and by that I mean Biden's brain is gone. At the last possible minute they will helicopter in someone, Newsom maybe Michelle Obama maybe, to take his place. The American people will have no say in this. And to make sure it happens as planned they will steal the election again. Yes it will be more obvious and brazen but they no longer care. They will steal it and will tell us that in fact it was the Republicans stealing it so don't believe your lying eyes. All pretense will be gone as they secure their final victory and if you don't go along with the ruse you will face a DC jury that will put your white MAGA ass in jail for 20 years.

Our society is melting down, for sure. In my own neck of the woods, a relatively safe suburb of Denver, if you keep on the east side of I225, more and more items at major retailers are behind lock and key. There’s hardly any retail stores left in downtown Denver. Every day there are reports of shootings, hit and runs. The Denver metro area has the highest vehicle theft rate in the country.

Just three weeks ago, a friend was followed back to his place of work, to drop off the work truck and was beaten. Just a couple of months prior to that, his work truck was stolen right out of his driveway. The theft was recorded by his security cameras, but that made little difference; they found the truck but not the thieves.

At the end of the Our Society is Melting Down article is a link to a book titled, End Times. Is this The End Times? I have no idea. Society does seem to be spiraling out of control at an ever increasing rate. And our government seems to be feeding fuel to the fire, and or, is to incompetent to do anything about it; is actually encouraging the collapse for some nefarious reason; probably something to do with the lie of climate change and overpopulation. The world leaders, at least in the West are a colossal failure.

However, if you read history, you realize that things have been worse, and that this is actually the normal human condition. In earlier times you could wake up to an army of men preparing to violently ransack your village, kill you and your sons, rape your wife and daughters and then cast them into slavery as concubines. Lord have mercy on us. We get what we deserve.

Regrettably, teachers don't know anything about history beyond their own understanding.

Will & Ariel Durant wrote a magnificent compendium of civilization that ties together so many periods of existence and how humans have adapted over many centuries. While it is condensed it is adequate to lead you on a path of consideration and if you want to know more, there is more to know.

In the 60s when I was in school learning a Romantic language was mandatory, Latin was still taught and ancient history went back far enough to introduce world exploration and western civilization.

It has become shameful that "schools" are now socialist indoctrination facilities conducted by some of most mediocre intellects to disgrace curiosity and to punish reasonable inquiry.

I really enjoyed Will & Ariel Durant books. My favorite was Caeser and Christ.

I took Ancient history in the 10th grade and I was probably too young to really enjoy it. This was in the mid 50's and I honestly don't think teachers ever retired back then. Most of my teachers were in their 60's and 70's. Just to give you an idea of how dry/dull my ancient history class was the teacher told a joke on the first day about a man in ancient Greece. He had ripped his pants so he brought them in to a tailor. The tailor looked at them and said "Euripides" and he replied "Eumenides" He laughed and no one in the class got it. It was down hill from there.

There far less distractions in the 50s, TV was pretty boring and my mother taught me how to read before I started elementary school.

To this day I sometimes read very slowly, savoring the words, thinking about different ways to pronounce them and the etymology of names, places and things.

Poor darlings of the new generations have no idea about how DEI functioned over thousands of years despite themselves being victims of their own ignorance.
