Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

'More schools are adopting 4-day weeks'
I'd give my left one for my workplace to do that. Not necessarily in the way that commie Bernie Sanders wants - working 32 hours and forcing the company to pay us for 40 - but a three-day weekend would be awesome. "Mayo clinic now says hydroxychloroquine MAY be used to treat...whut?
The language we are discussing on that page appeared after May 7 2020, and before May 22, 2020, which cab be verified as both of those dates have 'saves' of the page on archive.org. I did a check of about a dozen saves spanning dates from May 22, 2020 to present, and the language about this drug has been consistent from first appearance in spring 2020 to the present. So some say it doesn't help and some prestigious doctors say it has saved everyone of their covid patients they treated. And the medication well tested and has almost no side effects. So why the effort to stop it??? Why not simply allow doctors to be doctors and treat the patients? Why the effort to stop a medication with proven good results? And why the negative stories and posts about it?
The Mayo Clinic on hydroxy... The Mayo Clinic, Osterholm at the University of Minnesota, and the state of Minnesota ALL went woke in medicine and politics. Now they are trying to walk back their woke ideology in the face of their crap analytical skills. They are not likely to succeed.
Hydroxychloroquine is an antimalarial, and it is a very bad thing to have both Covid and malaria or similar diseases. Therefore it is a reasonable treatment if malaria is even suspected in a Covid case. Less death. This has been known for three years, this is not a walkback. This is the supposed "skeptics" unable to do science again, because it is their politics driving the science.
And dear God I have come to despise the bad science in American Thinker. It's not far from being a pure conspiracy rag at this point. There's a lot of 'bad' science everywhere and we can thank our government for that because it has become politicized.
Say whatever you want about American Thinker and whether it's a 'conspiracy rag' - I'd argue almost all mainstream media is a 'conspiracy rag' at this point, and I've spent the better part of my life working in it. I've felt that for at least 20 years, and I began feeling that way over 25 years ago. But the 'bad science' part is still just the issue of politicization and as far as "who started it" goes - I am sure someone will decide we can go round and round about THAT. Reality is once government inserted itself and began making statements, it was politicized. A simple example - nutrition. It's just a recommendation, hardly controversial in and of itself, and as such it has developed over time (as science is wont to do). https://www.ers.usda.gov/webdocs/publications/42215/5831_aib750b_1_.pdf But people grew up with different standards and beliefs, each time it was changed, and they get to say "but the GOVERNMENT TOLD ME" as if that's meaningful (and to some, it is). To this day I know people who still brush their teeth with Baking Soda and distilled water. They avoid flouride and toothpaste. Because that's what they were taught. Habits and beliefs are hard to break. And when you begin telling people things like a vaccine is "95% effective" without defining what "effective" means and what that 95% portion is referring to (as it turns out, not much), you have moved past a recommendation and politicized the science...and as new information comes out, you've discredited the science purely by accident, even when it, perhaps, is fine if it hadn't been overblown. I'm not sure I blame American Thinker for that. Or anyone else, for that matter, who is following whatever methods they deem best for themselves. The government was out of line from the start on this. On July 20, 2023 the Mayo Clinic said this about hydroxychloroquine:
QUOTE: Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine. These malaria drugs were authorized for emergency use by the FDA during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the FDA withdrew that authorization when data analysis showed that the drugs are not effective for treating COVID-19. They can also cause serious heart problems. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/expert-answers/coronavirus-drugs/faq-20485627On Sept. 1, 2023 the Mayo Clinic said this about hydroxychloroquine: QUOTE: Hydroxychloroquine may also be used to treat coronavirus (COVID-19) in certain hospitalized patients. https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/hydroxychloroquine-oral-route/description/drg-20064216Call it what you will but if it walks like a duck... It should be pointed out that today's parents are using a product called "Children's Melatonin" in order to get them to sleep at night--"everybody does it."
Maybe if children were allowed to spend more time outside playing independently of teacher union supervisors, they would be more creative (using their own brains to create solutions to solve challenges). This would cause them to be physically more energetic and thus better able to fall asleep at night. But, then again it would allow them to develop their own self-respect, and problem solving skills. Of course, this would make them less susceptible to the communist indoctrination that the teacher's union mandates. "Round like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel Never ending or beginning on an ever spinning reel" "Russian Foreign Minister Says U.S. 'Directly at War' With Russia in Ukraine"
Foreign Minister Lavrov sounds increasingly unhinged whenever he opens his mouth these days. He is no longer playing to the West though, he is playing to another audience. Hydroxy and Ivermectin are also antivirals and are effective if used EARLY in treatment. Some early trials used them late in treatment and had poorer results. Ivermectin is especially useful in early treatment and as a preventative.
QUOTE: Medical Examiner’s Office source: Only 1 to 2 percent of 'COVID deaths' were really COVID That is contradicted by the evidence. Excess deaths closely track deaths attributed to COVID—and not just overall. When COVID was widespread, excess deaths increased. When COVID waned, excess deaths decreased. This correlation is found not just nationally, but for each state. QUOTE: “They’re lumping all the flu cases in with COVID.” That is also false. Turns out that there's a test for influenza and a test for SARS-CoV-2. During the 2021-2022 influenza season, there was very little influenza due to the widespread social measures taken against COVID, with only 0.2% of a million tests being positive. Sorry, that should be the 2020-2021 influenza season.
ChatGPT is sooo reliable.
Kinda like the Quibble-DickZ!!! So far in 2023, excess deaths in the US have tracked more than expected in every week from a low of 7.2% above expected to 14.5% above expected totaling over 147,000.
By contrast, Sweden has had fewer excess deaths than expected by about 1000 deaths. Good golly miss molly. You're really scraping the bottom of the barrel. Beyond the obvious point that correlation is not causation, there are so many obvious problems with determining what the actual covid fatality rate was that no one should base any factual assertion on such data. Additionally, a large number of confounding factors further suggest your conclusion is wrong. Like the lockdowns and the covid vaccine being responsible for large numbers of deaths during the pandemic.
Badly done. Again. James: Beyond the obvious point that correlation is not causation
The fact that the correlation is very close, but also varies over time, and within population subsets, and that hospitals were flooded with people testing positive for COCID and suffering respiratory distress, makes the correlation strongly indicative of causation. James: Like the lockdowns and the covid vaccine being responsible for large numbers of deaths during the pandemic. Hospitals flooded with people testing positive for COVID suffering respiratory distress occurring in waves associated with the prevalence of COVID preceded the availability of the vaccine. A number of the Black Rock high level corporate officers are in Biden's admin as advisors. Black Rock is actively working with the WEF and other elite one world/new world order groups to implement those policies here in the U.S. Part of the plan to implement this is to flood the West with immigrants thus ending any majority or large minority of people who would not support the new plans that will limit our freedoms. Just more proof of the larger conspiracy to steal your country from you and turn you into serfs that they can rule over. You will own nothing and be happy!

"There is no such thing as a 'sex spectrum.'"
Quite correct. As I like to say: "You can have as many genders as you want. But there are only two sexes." Even more brutal evaluation of the trials of short men in dating from an early 1990s Dateline. They gave the short guys extreme resumes to no avail.
Women can just filter more efficiently with dating apps today. And with that filter, the opportunities for women to discard height in the favor of other attributes are much fewer.
