We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Jann Wenner, co-found of Rolling Stones Magazine AND The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, just said the quiet part out loud. Essentially what he said when asked why in his new book on Rock $ Roll legends he didn't interview any women or black musicians was that they (women and black rock and roll singers) were inarticulate and didn’t measure up to that same historical standard as the male rock and roll singers he interviewed.
Obviously he shouldn't have said that. I don't know if it is true or provable but that doesn't matter you are supposed to lie in response to a question like that. But, if there is anyone on earth who would be more informed and qualified to say that I don't know who that would be. I'm inclined to doubt that he is a misogynist or racist and merely said what his personal experience with everyone, literally everyone in rock and roll hs convinced him is fact.
Thank you for posting the discussion with Jacko and Jordan Peterson.
I am somewhat well read but this was an another level of insight beyond my surface understanding into the sociological depravity that we men can sink into. And the horrific acts we take on in direct conflict with our moral values and behaviors.
And in a very small way I saw this in our response to the Covid acceptable and expected common behaviors. The company I work for receives about 20% of its income from government contracts at the federal level. We were being forcefully pressured at a high level to demand all employees to be vaccinated. With much of the pressure coming from our internal advisory Committee that had responsibility to oversee our Covid program.
There was a desire to terminate any employee who would not take the vaccine. It took an incredible amount of interaction and debate to not force employees to go against their beliefs and autonomy over their bodies and their health.
But it went right up to the very last week before the mandates of the federal government that would have forced the vaccine on our people or we would lose all government contracts. This is small in comparison to the discussion in the video, but it was amazing how fast and how quickly people aligned themselves with the government program and their supposed experts.
