We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

" ‘Too rock heavy,’ too ableist, too white: Geoscience students identify concerns in field". This stupid person and those answering her questions are too delicate to be in a field that can sometimes be rough. Over 50 years ago women of any color were not allowed or were grossly discouraged not to enter the field of geology or veterinary medicine for that matter. For heavens sake get over yourselves and try harder. Life isn't fair. Like the saying goes "Shit happens and then you die".

If they complain that geoscience courses are "too rock heavy," I suppose they would also complain that there is an overemphasis on numbers in math courses.

"remote field sites are not handicap accessible":What a big surprise. That's like saying that water is wet. Should the Appalachian Trail be made wheelchair accessible to satisfy these harridans?

I would add that in the '70s, there were a fair number of females working in wellsite geology on oil rigs. The first rig I went to for training had a female wellsite geologist. She didn't kvetch. She did her job.

I recommend reading Bretz's Flood, about Harlan Bretz, the geologist who concluded that the scablands of Eastern Washington were the result of a catastrophic flood. In the 1920s and 1930s he took his wife, daughter and female geology students on his summer field trips. Field trips have their uncomfortable aspects. Should field trip participants be provided air conditioning to satisfy these harridans?

1.2 million Americans lost their jobs last month. But the job stats still look good because they were replaced by immigrants, H1b's and illegals. This is what Biden means when he tells you that the economy is doing well. Banks are closing their doors, being bought up by larger banks with government subsidies. Most of this is done on the down low. Not totally secret, if you search for it you can find it but not on the news for some reason. Nothing was built, nothing is back and nothing is better.

The triple- 6s is what the high profile Tik Tok girls call for in men and what is born out in the stats from the dating apps. And that remains even when the app that filters to show the percentage of men who would qualify is shown to these girls with a return of 0.04% of men meet their criteria of triple 6s. Just 6 feet cuts out 87% of men and that doesn't filter for those married so it's less than 13% on height alone.

He looks pretty good for a guy 76 years old. Glad to see that he has the sense to retire, but I wonder if he's just getting out in front of some really bad polling. We'll find out pretty soon.
