We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Whether or not conservatism works depends on how you define conservatism. To my mind, if liberals want us to drive off a 500-foot cliff at 100 miles per hour, the conservatives are urging it only be a 400-foot cliff at 90 miles per hour. They're both agreed that we need Big Government to tell us how to live our lives, the disagreement is just over what it is exactly we need to be forced to do.

With all due respect, your example defines the Republican Party, which has never really liked conservatives.

Examples:
Ronald Reagan (conservative): Government is like a baby. An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.

George H. W. Bush (republican): I have spoken of a thousand points of light, of all the community organizations that are spread like stars throughout the Nation, doing good. We will work hand in hand, encouraging, sometimes leading, sometimes being led, rewarding. We will work on this in the White House, in the Cabinet agencies. I will go to the people and the programs that are the brighter points of light, and I will ask every member of my government to become involved. The old ideas are new again because they are not old, they are timeless: duty, sacrifice, commitment, and a patriotism that finds its expression in taking part and pitching in.

Notice one is short, to the point and quippy. The second example takes an entire paragraph to explain, the main theme - stolen from Arthur C. Clark, written by Peggy Noonan (voted for Obama), and involved government at every step.

At this point I believe it is possible for the government to arrest anyone without regard to them having been involved in J6 at all and convict them in a DC court. Additionally, if our left wing government felt that this innocent person represented too much of a threat to their agenda they could "justifiably" send a SWAT team to their house at 5 AM and declare that they appeared to have a gun when they woke up and shoot them. THAT is where you government is today.

I might be able to help NYC with a list of all my neighbors who have "Migrants Welcome" signs in their yards. I still haven't seen any migrants living at their homes, so maybe we can make this happen.

I think that everyone is indigenous. They would like to make it means something else. When I lived in Alaska the question people asked to divide you into an "Alaskan" or from the "lower 48" was how long you lived there. If you lived there for five years but the person you were disputing with only lived their four years than HE was from the lower 48 and YOU were an "Alaskan".

Why should taxpayers pay for illegal aliens? Why should they pay for school, medical, food housing and walking around money for them? It makes no sense. They shouldn't have to pay anything for anyone who is not a actual citizen of this country. Why taxpayers pay for any "free stuff" even for citizens? The Democrats have been playing a shell game with money by not raising taxes to pay for all these replacement voters but instead increasing the national debt which will hamstring Americans in the future. They are doing this to replace citizens in the voter rolls and the workforce. This administration is disgusting.

Back in the 80s I believe, Californians passed a proposition that banned wealth transfer payments to illegals.

A federal judge promptly threw it out as unconstitutional.

His reason was that once illegals set foot in the USA they enjoyed the same rights as American citizens and thus could not be discriminated against.
