Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

We already know that there is an industry of grant writing whereby climate crisis research gets funded, the more extreme the better, and climate studies that do not generate support for global warming, do not compete to get funded.
We already know that our modern media complex has been subject to institutional takeover by interests sympathetic to the climate change narrative. It's all getting hotter, almost boiling, and it's all your fault!. Our leaders have to do something ! We already know that the IPCC reporting has entire sections devoted to the propaganda side of the climate change argument - devoted to the generation of 'narratives' and the creation of 'story lines' supportive of the anthropogenic CG argument, discussions of the use of estimates, in particular the use of the worst estimate extremes, to bolster otherwise weak arguments, all in pursuit of policy aspirations. None of this is a surprise. The video gets a little dull with the ongoing 'whataboutism' , point-by-point. And Peter Robinson is the dullest interviewer ever, boring to fault. Steven Koonin was almost falling asleep. Let me repeat it for you:
I'd guess not one in a thousand people could explain to you the mechanisms of climate change, including John "Irrefutable Evidence" Kerry. I don't think there's any evidence that things are any worse now than they've ever been as far as floods and droughts and hurricanes and tornadoes and heat waves and cold snaps and species extinctions and sea level rise and all the other supposed effects of man-made climate change. It's all just a grift, brought on by offering people money to provide evidence of a predetermined outcome. No different than tobacco companies paying scientists to decide there's no proof tobacco causes cancer or toothpaste companies paying dentists to agree that 4 out of 5 dentists recommend a certain toothpaste. Nobody takes that crap seriously, why would you take anything government-paid scientists say seriously? #2 Jerryskids on 2023-09-02 07:23 Jerryskids: Let me repeat it for you: I'd guess not one in a thousand people could explain to you the mechanisms of climate change
Let’s repeat it for you: Not many people could explain the mechanism of refrigeration. That’s not an argument that refrigeration doesn’t work. Next time your air conditioner needs repair, call somebody who doesn't know how the refrigeration cycle works to fix it. Let me know how that goes.
Funny you should pick refrigeration as an example of how little people know since I've been an HVAC tech for most of my life and you have no idea how aggravating it is to get customers who want to tell me their theories on what's wrong with their air conditioner and how to fix it when it's obvious they have no idea what they're talking about. Same with man-made global warming. If you have no idea what you're talking about, I might as well be paying attention to your theories about ancient Sumerian astrology as it relates to automotive repair. I think it has something to do with all those heat pumps I been hearing about. Something to do with what they call a reversing valve. They should make that valve work backwards and pump some cold instead of heat
Jerryskids: Next time your air conditioner needs repair, call somebody who doesn't know how the refrigeration cycle works to fix it.
That's exactly the point. Claiming the average person doesn't understand the mechanisms involved in global warming doesn't impact whether or not global warming is occurring. Jerryskids: I've been an HVAC tech for most of my life and you have no idea how aggravating it is to get customers who want to tell me their theories on what's wrong with their air conditioner And scientists often find it aggravating that laypersons think they can refute the basics of their specialty, that Einstein is wrong because whatever, without doing the actual work required to support their claims by collecting evidence and publishing for their scientific peers. You might want to check out Baez's crackpot index (esp. #18). Jerryskids: If you have no idea what you're talking about, I might as well be paying attention to your theories about ancient Sumerian astrology as it relates to automotive repair. Sure. That's why you should probably refer to experts in the field. Or, you could refer to the actual evidence, such as found in scientific journals. Though journals tend to be highly technical, you might want to check out the Journal of Climate or Nature Climate. Science also publishes a lot of studies on climate. experts in the field... Nothing like promoting government funded institutions (earth science comm team at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory) as the 'consensus' makers in the world of corruptocrat politicians and climate grifters.
We've seen how the same politicians and assorted grifters, acting as experts in the field, have handled the Vaxx, the various recent wars, and immigration. Your 'experts in the field" are killing us with their lust for power, control and money as we race headfirst into unpayable debt.

Is climate a construct of the white male patriarchy according to the sodomite sissy sewer swamp slime who monkey grind for their WEF paymasters?
Love the meme of Willy Wonka talking about insurance companies turning down Maui claims as "acts of nature" and the sarcastic face says...but isn't climate change man made. We are the carbon based life forms they seek to reduce and climate cult hysteria will be used to destroy the food supply when agriculture gets the blame for all the wild weather. The climate is absolutely changing no doubt about it. This latest natural cycle is expected to increase global temperatures 1.5-2 degrees C. It is the predictable result of the last climate change, the mini ice age, that ended in 1850. It has also become the perfect scam for those who have no scruples. In all fairness they are no different than that Nigerian Prince they just have set their sights higher. They want all your money and your rights and freedoms too. I suppose if we are stupid enough to buy into this scam that we deserve what we get. I do think though for maximum humiliation they should at least force us to all wear masks while they take everything we got.
I'm sure that John Kerry and the rest of the elite have cut back on their extravagant meals and flying jets and taking limousines. LOL, yeah right! OneGuy: This latest natural cycle is expected to increase global temperatures 1.5-2 degrees C.
Based on what? Whence is the increased heat coming? OneGuy: The sun.
Changes in solar irradiance are certainly worth considering, especially as they have been linked to previous climatic variations. However:
