that Dartmouth's newly proposed alumni constitution has been rejected by voters, 51 percent to 49 percent (67 percent being the threshold required for passage).
The proposed constitution had been roundly criticized for its anti-democratic nature, yet had been massively promoted by an alumni council that had already violated its own constitutional election rules in anticipation of the constitution's passage.
