Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The Sign on the Cross


Garth Hudson says that Dylan made this song up on the spot. I'd believe it. Songs of all sorts come out of his brain.


This is from the basement tapes (1967). I don't think it's entirely facetious, but his version of the good old music:

This is a stark illustration of how immensely talented Dylan is.

And it's not just Dylan. Elton John was another. It was said he could write the musiic for one of his sons in 30-40 minutes. Paul McCartney has been called the Mozart of the 20th century. There are others of course.

These top tier performers make it all look so easy and it is due to ability that is so extraordinary that I can't begin to grasp it.

I stand in awe.

I, personally, wouldn't consider Elton John anywhere near Dylan's status.

McCartney was a good 'un, alright.

The song in question was reminiscent of Hank Williams, another wonderful songwriter, and was probably particularly inspired by the latter's 'Luke the Drifter' persona.

Found some old Minnesota acoustic only demos of his lately and a cool B&W photo of him in back seat having a smoke in F' You sunglasses while fans go wild outside the car window.
Did viddy spindle search for the Subterranean Homesick Blues with the original rooftop rapid fire rapping for HDD storage.
BD is morale maintenance and boost, like the Gab Z-Man page!
Just returned from there and LMFAO at pics and memes.
NYC bearded lady health commissioner caused a belly laugh even though it was serious topic.

Subterranean edited black and white version found on 2006 spindle it says from Don't Look Back by D.A. Pennebaker.
Cue cards of the lyrics with people standing around in the background, rooftop, factory, outside on sidewalk.
There is another one in color only on the rooftop circa 1965, still searching for it.
Also found a Frank Zappa on Communist News Network-Crossfire from 1986 about rock lyrics, parental advisory stickers and FZ pwns them.
