Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

The University of Minnesota offers a two-page sheet listing scores of examples, including the phrases “America is a melting pot,” “There is only one race, the human race,” and “I believe the most qualified person should get the job.” These statements are hardly controversial, but for Reshovsky, they could be enough to torpedo a debater’s chances in the ring." " Russian, Chinese Nationals At US Southern Border Raises Security Concerns" The corrupt party in charge right now don't care as long as they think they can get them or force them to vote Democrat for them. This regime only wants power and their own profit. The Republicans seem to sit idly by and watch it happen even without any kind of a fight. Even the Supreme Court claims the states don't have standing to try and protect their people.
Like so much that happens within our government we will discover months, years from now that they knew all along that China and Russia were sending in spies and we allowed them in without any checks on them and they disappeared into our homeland. Right now in DC there are elected, appointed and hired government officials who are willingly and actively assisting the CCP to put spies and military saboteurs in our country. They aren't stupid, they know this is happening. They aren't unable to stop it, they are choosing to not stop it. Very likely at various levels government officials are being bought and paid for by the Chinese, much like the Bidens were bought by the Chinese. We are being invaded and those who have sworn to protect us are being paid to betray us.
Meanwhile Chris Christy will go on TV and news shows to tell you how bad Trump is and all the Democrats will tell you that patriots are deplorables and need to be put in jail. The MSM will hide and coverup the truth and all you can do is wait for the next 9/11 to happen. 'Malls: The Allure of Ruins'
Pretty neat. I've explored various abandoned looney-bins throughout southern New England for the past few years. Looks like they're finally going to raze what's left of Norwich soon. I should probably sneak in a few more visits while I still can. re Biden must seize on Putin’s weakness and help Ukraine win the war

. . . none of the news is true even though people talk as if it were. So this is probably another lie, don't you think? Speaking of the great vegan roll-out, I am reminded of a Southpark episode wherein the school switched to a vegan menu and everybody was worried that Cartman would flip out over the change. Cartman was fine with it though, figuring that anything produced in a factory out of so many chemicals and unnatural processes was indistinguishable from junk food. Or the cartoon that shows the "plant" of "plant-based" that looks like an oil refinery.
I see vegan food products in the supermarkets that sell for $5-$10 per pound. Wal-Mart sells pinto beans for 80 cents a pound. Seasonings will add pennies to that pound of pinto beans.
We live in the Age of Assertion. So many of these stories today are about people with strong egos, especially people in positions of power & authority, that are confident in their assertions, but unwilling to be responsible for them, unwilling to prove & defend them. Even more dangerously, some of them are not equipped to even understand them. It's a hazardous condition, dangerous to allow it to perpetuate, but in this cancellation culture, confrontation and demands for debate can be navigated. If you have the right politics, you'll have the support of a ready-made crowd.
Concerning Informational No Man’s Land from the Hot Air link, my thoughts revolved on two points: Has Mr. Thunder never read any history, and the infallible wisdom of God, put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in which there is no salvation. History is full of powerful people, the dispensaries of influence and information, gladly leading the peasants into no man’s land. If there be a chance for profit and power, a scoundrel will appear. The history books a literary filled with such men. The Age of Enlightenment, may have made things worse.
Best analysis I've seen on l'affaire Wagner (see, it Rhymes!) is here.

I mean the U.S. taxpayer funded rebuilding of Ukraine by U.S. and international corporations. Are you understanding yet who your congressmen represent? The war is extremely profitable for many businesses and the cleanup after the war will be even more profitable.
NYC is going to outlaw coal or wood fired pizza ovens for climate change or something. I'm guessing that the pizza ovens don't even come close to emitting the amount of pollution as private jets do. Why doesn't NYC outlaw private jets?
The climate cultists should have seen NY City in the early 19th century. Wood smoke was the least of the problems. Wood smoke can cause bronchitis, ain’t nobody got time for that.
Burning wood for heat in the central Missouri area is quite common, but we prefer gas fired ovens for our pizza.
Biden must seize on Putin's weakness in Ukraine ... Why do so many vegans season their food with magic mushrooms and hopium?
Most of our friends eat most of their meals out, at restaurants - much more than home-cooked, by a lot. We are the opposite. If I eat too much restaurant food, I really start to feel kind of bogged down.
Whenever someone new moves into our neighborhood, we bake them up a 'Martha's Company Casserole', straight out of the 1950's Good Housekeeping cookbook. My grandmother use to make it for us, and my mom. It gets rave reviews and requests for the recipe every single time and it's amazingly simple and tasty, and even better as leftovers. A busy kitchen makes a happy house, especially if there are kids running around. It's grounding and unifying. Why so many government lies about Covid? ... They have been lying about everything. Government has been living in an alternate universe since at least FDR but that universe is collapsing.

[T]he quaint old forms-elections, parliaments, Supreme Courts and all the rest will remain. The underlying substance will be a new kind of nonviolent totalitarianism. All the traditional names, all the hallowed slogans will remain exactly what they were in the good old days. Democracy and freedom will be the theme of every broadcast and editorial . . . Meanwhile the ruling oligarchy and its highly trained elite of soldiers, policemen, thought-manufacturers and mind-manipulators will quietly run the show as they see fit.
