We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Women "soldiers". Well in theory women can be effective soldiers. But the trans athletes in women's sports blows that theory completely out of the water. Whay can't you have trans athletes in women's sports? Because men are naturally stronger, stronger bones, more physical their heart actually pumps about 2 1/2 times as much blood as a woman's heart. I have literally seen "boys" in the military who weighed 120 lbs or so pick up 100 lbs and run with it. Not only could they do it but when challenged they wanted to do it and wanted to do it better than anyone else did. The women NEVER did it. They could not do it no matter how athletic they were AND they complained about even being asked to do it and whined until they were relieved of the task. Women in medical and admin -YES. Women in any other job in the military - NO! They can't do it. It is made to appear that they do it by having the men in the unit pick up the slack.
Now many will say, but they could drive trucks or cook or program computers... Sure they can and they do. I am not arguing that they cannot do anything other than admin and nursing. BUT every swinging dick out they will be required to pick up a gun and fight for their lives when the shit hits the fan and the unit is over run. And there will be no women Audie Murphy's. They will not be ready or capable to fight and defend. Why? Because they can't carry their weight and they will whine and complain even while being shot at.
Inevitably someone will point to some heroic act or some event that seems to contradict what I'm saying. I get it. Some women have done incredible things. But... IF you believed for a second that what I am saying is wrong and that the women can and will step up then her is the easiest test of that. Make all women units!!!
Make Seal Team 7 of all women and send them on those though missions. NOT a couple of women in a team of men but 100% women. Make entire Army units up of women. Let them go one extended jungle search and destroy missions. Let these female generals lead a couple dozen female soldiers against a army in their country in their jungles and see if they have what it takes.
No one will ever do this of course. Just the idea would be laughed at. They would come up with a dozen different rationalizations of why we couldn't do that. But the bottom line would be that they know what would happen, they know it would be suicide. So then, WHY integrate them in male combat units???
Yes, but. If you are "in country" you will absolutely get into combat if the enemy over runs you. Every Marine, for example, is a fighter. They might be a cook first but they have a rifle and if the enemy attacks and threatens to over run them they will fight. So why would you allocate 20% of military positions to people who are genetically incapable of fighting as well as the enemy you need to defend against?
There is far more to this argument than that women simply cannot fulfill the minimal standards for a combat soldier. They know that in a unit with women that the men will revert to protecting the women when they should be fighting as a well trained unit. The effectiveness of the male soldiers is negatively affected by the presence of women.
Women in the military depend on the illusion that "so far so good" because they haven't entered battle yet. Under that belief we could send in children and old people too. Because everything will be fine until they are actually called on to fight.
I understand that I am being brutally honest and the "brutal" part is uncomfortable. But war is brutal and we are teetering on the brink of war on multiple fronts. We will need every soldier in the first months until we can draft and train additional troops. The military is no place for social engineering.
My wife is traveling so I have had a chance to watch 3 Jordan Peterson videos this week including this one.
He is definitely an interesting character an has very good observations and questions. He's much better at interviewing than the average journalist.
However . . .
He rambles and goes off on things that just aren't real interesting. Then he touches on a really intriguing point . . . and immediately moves on without expanding on it.
In one video I watched it took him 25 minutes to reply to a question that he could have answered in about three minutes.
It's very hard for me to stay focused on his show while waiting for the inevitable good tidbits to show up.
Perhaps I am just not smart enough to properly appreciate his show? It could be that.
I also resent the videos ending with, "We're not done here, follow us over to our podcast to hear the remainder of the show.
