We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Everybody has a dark side, or a "shadow self." Often, civilization and socialization buries it to varying degrees but do not underestimate its existence.
As usual, Jordan Peterson has trouble shutting up but Robert Greene has been an interesting and successful author. I did read his book about power, but only looked at his Seduction book because I do not need to think about that these days.
Yin and Yang.
I love the Nietzsche quote about do want to out monster the monster or be slowly devoured, so much better than staring into the abyss for too long.
Love cures the demon but there is always a time to show your horns.

Be dangerous and peaceful. If you are not dangerous you can't be peaceful you can only be weak and cowardly. Be dangerous and choose to be a nice person with the ability to defend themselves and others in a split second.
See, I prefer Peterson's interview style. It's conversational rattler than simply Q&A. He and his guests riff on one another's comments, and both often seem to learn from the exchange rather than recite rehearsed sound bites.
Notable exception to this was his recent interview with RFK Jr. Peterson did more of a Q&A with him, and the result was mostly a bland recitation of talking points that had been focus-grouped. Left me very unenthused about RFK Jr.
