We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Within 45 seconds, I figured this guy will oversimplify things to the point of incoherence. For example, it isn't the employer who gets the surplus produced by the workers, it's the equity owners of the business (who are generally not management. Management, who does the hiring and firing, are just higher level employees. And were it not for the equity owners to put up the capital, and licensing the intellectual; property, there would be no business to hire the workers. Good luck, independent worker, at building your own F-350, or Boeing 747, or Burlington Northern railroad. They get the surplus because they put up the capital. They aren't running an employment charity. The workers get their wages for their time and skills.
He is a fairly old line marxist. Doesn't recognize the value of technology either. How many people are replaced by robotics and software.
He doesn't recognize the value of self interest either. Self interest drives a worker regardless of culture. What do I get in return for my skills.
Moral foundation also drives work. A shared morality/law levels the playing field and lack of such drains efforts that workers will provide in a low trust environment.
