Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

QUOTE: Political Prisoner Kenneth Joseph Thomas, a Veteran and Father of Four Did Not Enter US Capitol, Did Not Attack Police, Faces 30 Years in Prison Thomas is not a political prisoner, as he is not a prisoner. He was released on a personal recognizance bond. He is accused of entering restricted grounds and of assaulting the police. According to the Complaint and Statement of Facts, "Video 3 showed that, even after law enforcement officers pushed him back, THOMAS returned at least twice to punch or strike the officers with his fist and forearm" and "that THOMAS turned toward the rioters and ordered them to 'hold the line' against the advancing officers." I looked at complaint to view the video however the links did not work. Are the available to view the whole event? Still pictures can be misleading and before I comment I would like to do the research.
Don: I looked at complaint to view the video however the links did not work. Are the available to view the whole event?
Not that we've found. Don: Still pictures can be misleading and before I comment I would like to do the research. That's not an unreasonable position to take. Indeed, Thomas has the right to a trial by jury. The government has videos and provided screenshots for the Criminal Complaint. The defense also has the videos and could release them but haven't (probably because they won't help his case). However, the publicly available screenshots clearly show that Thomas was more than a passive bystander. The original article was highly misleading. Thomas is not a prisoner, and there is substantial evidence of his involvement in the storming of the Capitol. Thomas is not a political prisoner but someone accused of criminal conduct. "Thomas is not a prisoner, and there is substantial evidence of his involvement in the storming of the Capitol." Link please.
John Fisher: Link please.
For the evidence of alleged criminality, please see the first comment of the thread. He was released on personal recognizance on June 3, 2021, a few days after his arrest.

I did not think there was one out there. Interesting enough videos are a series of still shots that can be cherry picked to show almost anything you want. With those shots you really cannot tell if he is striking someone or reacting to being struck. I guess time will tell. As far as being free, how free can one be with the thought you can lose everything (in essence thirty years is everything).

Well, maybe if you squint. In any case, Thomas has the right to a trial, and the videos will be a played for the jury. Good luck with that. Members of the police will presumably also testify, including those who were injured during the mêlée. Don: As far as being free, how free can one be with the thought you can lose everything (in essence thirty years is everything). Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time. The prison terms are stacked to add up to 30 years. It is very unlikely that he would be sentenced to that long of a term. However, he is looking at several years, which is probably why he hasn't accepted a plea deal.

My son was an ADA, I'm very aware of the force that can be brought to bear to force a defendant to capitulate and cop a plea. In his case they will be very happy to take him the mat and send him away for as long as possible. In this case I think he will do the time because he put a target on his back. As always it is who you know.

Of course. That's how it has always worked. Historically, poor and minority defendants have had it worse. After generations of "law and order" cries from the political right, it's interesting to note how shocked they are to discover poor jail conditions and the imperfections of the justice system when it is white, middle-class people caught up in the system. Who knew they could hold such people before trial!? And in jail! With those people! Actual criminals! The indications are that Thomas is guilty. Still, he has the right to a trial and the legal presumption of innocence. The system isn't perfect, but there's no indication of any miscarriage of justice in this case.

Not at all. The government will have to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

To be clear, in the U.S. federal court system, the defendant can move to have the charge dismissed for insufficient evidence of guilt—even before the defense presents their side of the case. It's up to the government to provide proof of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt for any charge it brings.
The still images provide evidence that Thomas had illegally entered a restricted area. The still images show Thomas engaging with the police, and the government claims videos and witness testimony will confirm that Thomas assaulted police.

Love the pic of the dog and toy. Regarding college students shows how this country will slide down into the depths of fading civilizations. Too much expectation to complete work on time? Work too difficult? If you can't complete those tasks in college how would they every expect to compete in the business world? Perhaps if they didn't stay up al night drinking, doping and whoring they might be better prepared for the real world. Maybe it even goes back to their high school years where they gave the poor older students a later start time saying they really couldn't function in the early morning, send the little ones early instead. Why is it that decades ago we were all expected to do the work, show up on time and pass difficult tests and if we didn't we were not in college any more. Stop pampering the brats and make them grow up to be responsible adults
Re "Forgive and Forget": Headlines that begin with "We Have Lost...", "We No Longer...", etc, always seem presumptuous and annoying to me. How, exactly, does the omniscient writer know what's going on in every else's head or how they spend their day? He does not, of course, but writes with the smug assurance that his two-bit speculations have the universality of physical law. Do they pick that up in college writing courses or something?

Body language why did she do it?
Why did the Bud Light VP make the call to use a tranny to sell beer? This 5 minute video says the body language tells it all. https://redstate.com/kiradavis/2023/04/22/must-watch-body-language-expert-figures-out-exactly-what-bud-light-vp-was-thinking-with-her-mulvaney-marketing-mess-n735266 feeblemind: Why did the Bud Light VP make the call to use a tranny to sell beer?
"Okay. Seems basically as inoffensive as an ad can be when it is promoting Bud Light, a beer that asks the question, "Are we allowed to call cat's urine beer?" I would think you would be very pleased over the outcome Zach.
Here is a woman who grew up in the South, and I am given to understand was a registered Republican, and yet she has been made a convert to woke ideology. She has also single handedly, substantially reduced the consumption of "cat urine". From your point of view, what could be better? feeblemind: She has also single handedly, substantially reduced the consumption of "cat urine".
Why do you think we should care if people drink fizzy water swished around a dog's mouth?" Or care about one of hundreds of influencers used to sell "what you get when you ring out a bar rag at the end of a shift at any bar?" Yeah, that is very interesting. All the values that Heinerscheid‘s parents taught her are no good. Her life coach, who is supper smart, and an immigrant from Africa, a trifecta, told her so. And then there is the psychologist from STANFORD. Oh my! Educated into ignorance.
Precisely, B. Hammer.
She appears to be an empty suit, bereft of original thought and lacking self-confidence. One wonders how she was able to rise so high in the corporate world? Buy legal so you can get taxed four times like Illinois?
They tax by the THC content there so get the basic stuff. Truckers still joke about when you are broke and desperate you sell dope regarding glorious CPUSA egalitarian utopias like NY and other strongholds. Bud Light? I admit that it would be consumed if I found some but would never actually pay for that corporate swill. Corporate HR types think Twitter is the real world as they get bullied by social just check off boxes. Joe Slovo Biden is so unpopular college students started chanting Let's Go Brandon without any Pavlovian bells or cue cards. This just in from Dominion/BlackRock Joe is the most popular ever you deplorable kulak untermenschen scum. I knew it was only a matter of time before someone would decided to start spinning the Censorship Industrial Complex story over to the feet of the Republican Party.
In regards to illegal NYC pot shops, they are just following San Francisco's playbook.
Long before pot was legal in the state of California it was openly available in the city of San Francisco. Shops had to pay a weekly fine of $1,000. Shops that paid the fine stayed in business. Shops that could not pay the fine were shut down as the moral degenerates they were. With 5,000 illegal shops in NYC and a fine of $250 each visit, New York has set up a potent new revenue stream. All the leader have to work out is whether they want to collect the fines daily or weekly. "Buy legal" is rather funny. Only the hipster politicians with dollar signs for eyes ever thought the illegal weed would go away once the legal weed was taxed and sold in a government approved store.
College student woes. Let's see, hard exams, deadlines, rejecting anti-woke survivor of Maoist China. It has to be hard work to become such morons. They had to have volunteered as tackle dummies for the football team or was it a work-study position? And then they were toking for stress relief. I think the Euros were trying to get even for the Brussels based Bud by crushing about 2500 cans of Miller High Life "the champagne of beers" that an individual ordered. Miller doesn't export to Europe but the individual lost his stash. High Life beats Bud light every day and any day. Keep it in the USA. Hire Trump to do an ad for the brew and Bud will collapse. Fox News just told Bud Light "Here, hold my beer!".
Tucker Carlson and Fox News have, um.. "parted ways*. It's a great opportunity to set up people TV. We need to get Elon or Trump or some other money source to add some seed money for alternative TV. Call it the EIB TV and license the name from Rush's wife. Then market co-op shares in the network similar to how the Green Bay Packers ownership works using something like Give-Send-Go. That will keep a majority shareholder from dictating "woke" news. Look at all the talent that is currently available to staff the network. Add Miller HighLife as an early advertiser.
Why no challenge to Biden ... They are actually running against the Clinton-Obama regime with the IC, FBI/DOJ, and the State Dept as the opposition. Everyone already knows who the Biden presidency consists of in reality. Biden is the empty chair sock puppet protected by the media that pretends he has substance.
I can only hope the republicans grow the stones to use the DOJ like a weapon like the left does. I don’t care who and how many lives they destroy in the process.
