We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Syd Barrett, founding member of Pink Floyd, gradually sank into psychosis during the group's early days. The group wrote this remarkable homage to him (this performed by David Gilmour):
Syd did way too much liquid LSD when a few drops will make an entire sheet.
Oldest sibling fried himself with too many trips in the 100 acre woods.
The hidden message on The Wall is for Syd and the Wish You Were Here album is about him.
O/T-Read about a German court clearing a Roger Waters concert and realized just how far gone it is.
Later a page said the world is a prison now...find your gang.
Jim Gordon died last month. He played on so many records in the 60's and 70's that nobody has a complete discography. Derek and the Dominoes, Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, Frank Zappa etc etc etc.
He was also undiagnosed schizophrenic that got worse with age. He ended up murdering his own mother and spending the rest of his life in a facility for the criminally insane. He never made an effort to get out even though he qualified years ago.
The way I heard it (from the band's official history) had nothing to do with mental illness. Syd was a heroin addict -- enough so that he showed up at one of their concert venues so wasted that he couldn't perform, and the band had to fire him.
