Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

'Muslims are helping turn the tide in school culture wars'
If they were Christian, they'd be labeled as bigots. But since Muslims are, by and large, non-White, the Left will begrudgingly tolerate them. re Steven Van Zandt Is Bruce Springsteen’s Guitarist. He Hates You. He Wants You Dead.
Another week, another leftist expresses his desire to kill Republicans. One can't help but conclude the idea of exterminating the political opposition is pervasive on the left. What's holding them back? I don't believe it is gun ownership. When a leftie artist with a lot to lose indulges in loose talk about extermination, he doesn't mean he's personally going to go out and kill his enemies. He's dehumanizing some of his neighbors in service of a legal and social program of systematically excluding them from the parts of society he senses he can control, mostly through the efforts of agents. Tax them, audit them, doxx them, harass them at home and in restaurants, get them fired, drive them out of business, dismantle their industries, obstruct the publication of their books, put them under surveillance, prosecute them under thin pretexts, terminate their parental rights, disqualify them from adopting children. In general, put as many resources and institutions under state control as possible, so these tools will be more effective.
This is more than politics, this is racism 2.0. The left has gone full racist 24/7. They justify it with a re-written history and the belief that being racist towards whites is OK. It will get worse. Right now blacks kill more whites every year than the Democrat KKK killed blacks in their entire existence. And the news ignores and hides it. Now the LGQTB Trans movement is jumping on the kill whitey bandwagon. It will get worse until it is stopped.
mudbug: Who is Bruce Springsteen?
An originator of heartland rock with songs such as Born in the U.S.A, winner of 20 Grammy Awards, and a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Maybe it wasn't obvious but I was being a bit sarcastic. I know who Bruce Springsteen is and for my money, his early albums were the only ones worth listening too. "The Wild, the Innocent, and the E-Street Shuffle" was brilliant and to me was the modern musical remake of "West Side Story." "Born to Run" was ok but the intricacy and complexity of the arrangements and the emotion in the lyrics was that was in "E-Street Shuffle" was pretty much gone. It has not aged well for me.
I saw him in concert twice when those albums were freshly released and enjoyed both. I'm done with him now. Van Zandt let it slip what he thought about half the country and everything I've heard from Springsteen over the last decades is in line with Van Zandt's view. I don't particularly like his current music and I like his message even less. The troll bot is not programmed with sarcasm detection.

eeyore: sarcasm detection
Actually, we read it as Bruce Springsteen having been forgotten, lost in the dustbin of history. While mudbug related his subjective views, an objective measure of artistic merit is influence. By that measure, Springsteen has had a large influence on other artists and on the culture.

There's no doubt that Springsteen is very popular and probably influential. I don't necessarily count awards as a yardstick for much though. For example, Parliament-Funkadelic, Aerosmith, Isaac Hayes, The Clash, The Police, and many more including Bruce Springsteen were inducted before Leon Russell. To my mind, that isn't a travesty, it is a farce. For that matter, Bruce Springsteen was inducted before Chet Atkins, Paul Simon, Quincy Jones and Eric Clapton. Sorry, I'm not seeing it.
Yeah, I'm subjective... Aren't we all?

mudbug: Yeah, I'm subjective...
There’s nothing wrong with being subjective. Like what you like. But, influence is an objective measure. Awards are only one, albeit less than perfect, measure of influence. However, they do provide a first-order approximation. To say Springsteen was influential means that other artists adopted or integrated elements of his style, and that his legacy is more than just his own works. Historically, Springsteen is an important figure in music of the period.

QUOTE: Steven Van Zandt Is Bruce Springsteen’s Guitarist. He Hates You. He Wants You Dead. Don't believe that. However, Van Zandt has a very large platform. He deleted his tweet, as he should have, but he should also explicitly apologize. Why should he apologize for saying what he really believes? He only deleted that post because calling for mass murder is an obvious violation of Twitter terms of service. 'Little Steven' has since doubled down on his hate in follow up tweets minus the homicidal rhetoric all while calling himself a 'peace loving hippy'. If someone thinks I'm a 'cockroach' I'd prefer they just put it out there. It's good to know where you stand.
Lord Heathen: Why should he apologize for saying what he really believes?
We rejected that characterization in the very comment to which you responded. "We rejected that characterization in the very comment to which you responded."
By saying "Don't believe that?" But, I do. So your rejection is duly rejected. And so on... Genuinely curious. Why do you characterize your comments as being posted by 'we'? Is trolling the comment section on this site some sort of group project? Perhaps you suffer from multiple personality disorder and if so when can we expect to see your stunning flag? :)
I know 'We' did. That's not the point. You or your organization didn't post the original tweet. I simply pointed out that I prefer honesty. Without it there is nothing but chaos. Surely you can agree with that?
In my youth we would ask “… Whadda you mean we? You got a tied in your pocket?”

https://ussanews.com/2023/04/11/durham-finds-smoking-gun-text-message-from-fbi-revealing-joint-venture-to-defame-trump/ Two children killed in fire caused by e-bike's lithium-ion battery in New York, officials say
QUOTE: "It's a terrible tragedy," Hodgens said, adding firefighters arrived to the scene in about three minutes. "We got here very quickly – and if this was not an e-bike fire, most likely we would've been able to put this fire out without incident. But the way these fires occur, it’s like an explosion of fire." Due to the fast-moving nature of e-bike fires and the fact the bike was being charged near the building's front entrance, the occupants "had very little chance of escaping," he said. Monday's fire marks the 59th fire caused by a lithium-ion battery powering a micro-mobility device in New York City this year, Chief Fire Marshal Dan Flynn said. Of those fires, there have been five fatalities. At least all those deaths were part of the effort to "save the planet" so they are either martyrs or merely collateral damage to the True Believers. No biggie. It's worth it. Life is cheap. And there are too many of us anyway. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2023/04/11/e-bike-lithium-ion-battery-fire-new-york/11640554002/ feeblemind: At least all those deaths were part of the effort to "save the planet" so they are either martyrs or merely collateral damage to the True Believers.

Mayor Adams Announces Plan to Combat Lithium-Ion Battery Fires, Promote Safe Electric Micromobility Usage Complete Transformation’: New Biden Rule Would Force Automakers to Ditch Gas, Sell Electric Vehicles
QUOTE: Biden administration’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) set to unveil proposed rules tomorrow that will effectively force automakers to sell internal combustion-powered vehicles to no more than one-third of their customers. The remaining two-thirds must be electric vehicles by 2032. Why? Because climate, according to The Washington Free Beacon’s Collin Anderson. If this is allowed to stand, it signals the end of private car ownership for most Americans. EV production will be miniscule and ICE (Internal Cumbustion Engine) production will only be a third of THAT. I don't recall any memorable solos or riffs. Almost as fake as Sony records contract darlings Rage Against The Machine and way too edgy for my corporate logo sticker. Lord Heathen: So a Patti Smith Group cover is his magnum opus?
It was written by Springsteen & Smith. Are you beginning to see what "AI" will be? Most likely Zach is AI or a nerd using AI to respond. AI "could" be a good thing. Like so many modern inventions and new technology "could" be good. But it won't be.
The current version of AI is biased. That is if you ask questions about traditional values the answers will downplay any value. If you ask about trans it will be glorious and wonderful. But that is just the tip of the iceberg. It will be 100% a scam. Everything on a computer is controlled and biased by those who put it there. Your phone tracks you because that is what the leaders; the elected leaders or their puppet masters, wanted. Everything on a computer is there to facilitate the spying and tracking needs of a controlling government and industry. Everything you put in the cloud will be seen by those who want to see it. Do you really think that AI won't be tainted? Imagine that in the near future you innocently use AI to answer health questions and when you try to renew your concealed carry permit you are denied because AI reported you. AI will be the biggest most disruptive negative incursion into your lives and freedoms imaginable. I have to admit that after 9/11 I had no love for Muslims, viewing them as a threat to our way of life. As the years have gone on and our "way of life" had devolved into the current cesspool of popular culture, I have reevaluated my feelings. I think the time is here when conservative Christians and Jews need to team up with conservatives Muslims to move the popular culture in a better direction. Government and the elites essentially ignore, if not actively oppose conservative Christians, and to a slightly lesser extent, conservative Jews. But they don't ignore conservative Muslims. We can use them as the point of a spear to benefit all of us.
I don't want to hate Muslims, I have known many of them including a Saudi Prince. They all were well educated, polite and interesting people. I knew number of Iranian military back in the 60's when the Shah still was the leader of Iran. Interesting side story the Saudi prince had a "friend" who grew up with him and his friend was his bodyguard. They were childhood friends, lived like brothers all their lives and as adults his friend was completely dedicated to him and went everywhere with him. It was subtle but you always knew who was the prince and who was the man who would give his life to save the prince but once past that subtlety it appeared to just be two good friends.
I don't want to hate them but a percentage of them hate us and a much larger percentage will support and agree with those hate us. And almost none of them will ever change from that position. Muslims and Christians cannot live together and as soon as the Muslims acquire a large enough minority population they will either kill you or convert you. https://www.weaselzippers.us/489745-hamas-official-may-allah-bring-annihilation-upon-the-jews/ Here is a good example of what I said.
