Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Bird Dog: I was a Lit Major and Stem minor. A good combo.
Wise. In the modern world, it is not always enough to be good in a single field. An MBA/engineer can lead an organization while improving communication between the business and development spheres. A computer scientist/historian can harness new information technologies to help unravel the secrets of the past. Crossing medicine with physics might lead to the development better diagnostic tools and prosthetics. The world is rapidly changing. Americans must compete with well-educated people from over the world. But Americans have great advantages, not least of which are a highly-motivated and well-educated people with a tradition of entrepreneurship. China is moving past saber rattling in their actions with Taiwan. Of course it is impossible to know if China is simply ramping up their bluffing for political reasons or are indeed planning an invasion soon. There is probably no better time for China to invade if that is their intent, America becomes weaker by the day, our president is incompetent and may will be compromised, our military leaders are distracted by fluff and LGBQT squirrels. And perhaps most importantly the leading contender for President in 2024 is more likely to negotiate and will undoubtedly reverse our military decline. So the time is right, the Chinese may indeed take Taiwan. But incidentally they may have to destroy an American carrier battle group in the process. This isn't speculation, the fleet is there, our commitment to Taiwan is known and in spite of the enormous capability of a carrier battle group China has overwhelming forces and would succeed in destroying it, at a high cost of course. What is the next logical step for the U.S. if China destroys the fleet killing 12,000 or so sailors in the process? Especially if our president has given away most of our conventional weapons to Ukraine. I believe it will go nuclear within 72 hours of the destruction of the carrier group.
Xi is an expert at bluff. He lacks the muscle and logistics to take Taiwan and he knows it. He lacks an amp hip warfare capability, sealift, does not control the skies, and faces a formidibable foe.
The Germans worked for a year to fortify the Normandy beaches. They didn’t know they would be the targets. There are only 10 possible beaches in Taiwan. The defenders have had over 50 years to fortify them, At Omaha about 1,200 Germans nearly slaughtered two US divisions. Tell me again about the PRC’s chances. By the way the allies had 10,000 aircraft to the GERMANS 400. ANYONE WHO BELIEVES the Chinese will invade should contact me about a great time share condo opportunity in glorious Malabo. "RFK Jr. las lots of skeletons."
They're Kennedys, after all. Hell, I think the only clan that has more jinks is the famous Hart wrestling dynasty. RFK has the personality of a lizard and his speech impediment hurts him in communicating and impressions of him.
Or they could rig the primary vote against him as 0bama did against HRC. Recall how 0bama won all the caucus states by bussing in supporters. Biden's masters could pursue a similar strategy.
Too early to tell though. One wonders how RFK Jr. polls with the crazy wing of the Dem Party? If he has no traction there is nothing for party bosses to worry about. What say you, Zachriel? Is RFK Jr a an asset or a liability for the Democrats? feeblemind: What say you, Zachriel? Is RFK Jr a an asset or a liability for the Democrats?
Kennedy could be a political liability for Democrats. He's a purveyor of conspiracy theories and often aligned with the kooky right. He was reportedly encouraged to run by former Trump White House chief strategist, Steve Bannon. Bannon thought that Kennedy could act as a "useful chaos agent," while also stoking "anti-vaccine sentiment." Kennedy probably won't garner a lot of support among the electorate, but he could still damage Biden during the primaries. I'm beginning to like RFK more and more.
Zach, you do realize that we have moved way past conspiracy theory on the vaccine into facts that they vaccines doesn't work but does kill and disable. Here's a friendly hint: Stop continuing to call them conspiracy theories after they prove to be true and if you cannot get out of your left wing craziness even after seeing the truth then simply don't repeat the talking point "conspiracy theories" because it makes you look really, really stupid. OneGuy: vaccines doesn't work but does kill and disable.
The evidence is that serious side effects are rare from the COVID vaccine, while the benefit far exceeds the risk. QUOTE: CDC: COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. You're joking, right? Right?

That’s what the data shows.
QUOTE: NHS: COVID-19 vaccination is safe and effective. . . . The safety of the vaccines has been extensively reviewed . . . The vaccines continue to be monitored and reports of serious side effects are very rare.

Zach, please get boostered as much as you possibly can. I suggest the quad booster + with double masking, gloves, and face shield at all times. I'd tell you not to leave the house but it's pretty obvious you don't.

"while the benefit far exceeds the risk. "
There is absolutely no benefit to the 'vaccine.' Zero. It doesn't prevent you from getting - or spreading - covid. And there is no way of knowing whether or not it lessens the symptoms because there is no way to know how severe your symptoms would be without it. No. Benefit. Got it?

A lower mortality rate is a benefit. See Xu et Al., COVID-19 Vaccination and Non–COVID-19 Mortality Risk — Seven Integrated Health Care Organizations, Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report 2021: “In a cohort of 6.4 million COVID-19 vaccinees and 4.6 million demographically similar unvaccinated persons, recipients of the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, or Janssen vaccines had lower non–COVID-19 mortality risk than did the unvaccinated comparison groups. There is no increased risk for mortality among COVID-19 vaccine recipients.”

I have relabeled DEI to DIE as you did but it can just as easily be labeled IED.
IED is better ... it's intended to blow everything up so we look more like Africa. Worldwide equality of outcome.
Peak insanity? ... likely not. But the NAMBLA promoters pushing drag queens and young boys gets us closer to the perverted bottom of the gutter.
DEI and science ... If the equity elitists can't bring the bottom up, then they insist on bringing the top down. There WILL be equality of outcome even if it kills us. RFK jr ... Dems live in the graveyard of wars and abortion where skeletons do not matter. And a box of Dunkin donuts ... too early for their new breakfast tacos? I don't think coffee and tacos go together. If the equity elitists can't bring the bottom up, then they insist on bringing the top down.
Best description of the Equity Obsession this year! I don't think coffee and tacos go together. Breakfast tacos, like chorizo and egg with some hot sauce or pico de gallo, go great with cafe con leche. The milk tames the hot sauce on the way down. Except SOME of those at the top will definitely NOT be touched!

If it’s racist to require the correct answer to a math problem, I’ll make sure I keep to old planes, buildings, and bridges - those designed and built by “racists.” So what are you going to do when your DOCTOR is an affirmative action product?
