Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Wakanda, I mean South Africa is the future for a dozen or more major U.S. cities. Arguably it is already happening in Chicago. I think education is a factor. I mean that educated people at the least know of and understand that society is based on some specific moral norms. But also education at home. My mother made me set the table and instructed me on where the knife, fork and spoon went, where the napkin, water glass and coffee cup went. No big deal. It was just a small part of the overall picture that there was an organized society with rules and traditions and there was an expectation that we children abide by these rules and honor the traditions. Yes as a child I did things that were wrong nut I feared that my parents would find out and that fear was based on the knowledge I garnered over the years I was growing up that things were expected of me. The guilt I felt in breaking the rules literally prevented me from breaking them again. I couldn't explain it at the time but it was real and it worked. Today at 80 I still say "please" when I ask for something in a store or restaurant and I still say thank you when I get it or get service. It is automatic. I don't mean to say that simply doing that makes me a nice person but rather that I do it without think and would feel awkward not doing it means that at the least I was raised properly. Do you think the thugs in Wakanda, I mean South Africa, or Chicago, say please and thank you in stores and restaurants? Do you think their mothers and fathers raised them right? Do you think their mothers and fathers even know what "raising them right" means?
Culture first, education second. To quote another well known blogger: "Africa wins again"
'What's up with South Africa?'
The same thing that was up with Rhodesia. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CsyHbj_SHGA&t=97s Discover card to track gun purchases.
I would guess that perhaps 30% of Americans would not have a problem with this. But if the last 14 years or so has taught us anything it is that government will misuse their powers for personal or political reasons. So what will Mastercard track next your alcohol purchases or meat purchases? And if we go to a cashless society, which it certainly appears we will, what will the new social credit score cards track? And worse what will they do if someone, somewhere decides you have had too much soup, no soup for you! Yes soup Nazis! and maybe sugar Nazis or meat Nazis. No gas stoves, restricted gas fill-ups in your cars, no vacation because you had too much soup! I'm just kidding, that would never happen, right? Right? https://www.fff.org/2023/02/28/jfks-remarkable-peace-speech-that-sealed-his-fate/
This is an interesting read and relates to what is going on today with the Ukraine. re Naomi Wolf: The return of the ancient gods
It's a good read. Paging Ben David I would be interested in your opinion of this piece. re 'What's up with South Africa?'
One wonders if this is eventually our future, if the wokeness, DEI and other leftist dogma continues to triumph over competency and productivity? child sacrifice - abortion?
We have been worshiping Moloch for decades and we wonder at the result? Left on Pushing the narrative ..from Wretchardthecat
In totalitarianisms, the credibility of the media is actually unimportant. Their actual function is to suppress information, reduce the bandwidth and semantically impoverish speech. In such a system, you never know the truth but you know with precision the official party line. And that's where we are at. Global warming ... a war on Americans and other productive nationalities. School choice everywhere ... federal government and teacher unions declaring war on Americans. Dartmouth club "white supremacy"... more race narrative with an outdoor kicker...then trade your Nike's for hiking shoes. Ukraine has vegetables ... and a lot of our money and a lot of money laundering. What's up with S Africa ... going back to nature unless China steps up to replace "whites". Beat me too it Indy. I was just going to paste Wretchard's quote up.
It is certainly the QOTD. And it is a reflection of the Naomi Wolf piece but in few words.
One of the Commandments is ... Thou shall have no other gods before me. The Commandment does not deny there are other gods ... only that they shall not come before GOD. As we observe the world it is evident that the malevolent are at work and all around us. With our Christian religion in such disrepair, it is not hard to see the craziness descending deeper into the gutter. The bottom does not seem to have been reached yet. It Looks as if the Justice Department Probably Has Spies in Catholic Churches
QUOTE: Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) takes AG Merrick Garland to task on targeting Catholics “The FBI field office in Richmond, VA on January 23rd, issued a memo where they advocated for and I quote ‘New avenues for trip-wire and source development against Traditionalist Catholics,… . . . But Hawley persisted: “Let me just ask you, as my time expires here, a very direct question. How many informants do you have in Catholic churches across America?” It was then that Garland gave his most unintentionally revealing answer of the entire hearing: I don’t know, and I don’t believe we have any informants aimed at Catholic churches. We have a rule against, uh, investigations based on First Amendment, um, activity, and uh, uh, uh, Catholic churches are obviously, uh, First Amendment activity. But I don’t know the specific answer to your question. https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/robert-spencer/2023/03/02/okay-so-it-looks-as-if-the-justice-department-probably-has-spies-in-catholic-churches-n1675014 The FBI infringes on ALL first amendment rights. Speech, press, assembly, and petition have been denied and even require "permits" in many cases.

British journalist shows how the CIA played a "direct" role in the creation of Google. The government/media converging all news sources and converting everything into a narrative should be well understood by now. No benefit to masks during the pandemic. Dr John lays it out, with citations.
https://youtu.be/S3vY2LyQn1A What's up with South Africa is that the average IQ in sub-Saharan Africa is 68. You cannot build a functioning civil society with raw materials like that. They pushed out all the people who made the country work, a la Zimbabwe, and are now living with the consequences.
