We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. What the women of Iran should do is take their guns and shoot the Iranian politicians and supporters. Seriously! This isn't controversial, the politicians want to kill them because they are not willing to accept abject slavery. Take a gun from your house and kill one of the politicians. Every woman in Iran hide a gun under your burka and go and shoot the highest ranking politician you can find.

There is a great picture taken in Poland I think showing a couple dozen Nazis standing around watching two or three German soldiers shooting civilians who are kneeling by a pit filled with bodies. It is labeled "Citizens obeying gun control laws and soldiers following orders".

You do have to wonder why our president after a shooting where a multiple felon using a stolen handgun kills someone calls for controls on assault weapons. In fact 5 times as many people are killed by hammers than all types of rifles. There is a reason our government wants to take our guns and it has nothing to do with safety.

The problem for the church of woke is the sins of race and patriarchy. The BLM/panthers/whatever were enslaved by their own race and marketed to slave holders of every race and religion. They have never accepted that reality and continue to blame everyone else. In this country they have concentrated in big city ghettos and churn out numerous children without the benefits of fathers and then pretend it is the patriarchy who keeps them in the ghetto when it is the dysfunctional matriarchy that keeps them in the ghetto.

The U.S. has to raise the debt limit or go into default with catastrophic domestic and global economic effects. Constantly "playing chicken" with the debt limit is damaging even without default.

Huh? The debt ceiling has been a perennial problem in American politics. The out-party makes a big tadoo, while the party in power has to take the heat. But both parties know, or should know, that there is no choice in the matter.

Neither party is blameless when it comes to overspending. The debt in 2008, the debt was about #10T. In fourteen years it is more than triple that number. Since spending bills originate in the House, here are the stats:

The United States could avoid raising the debt ceiling by balancing the budget. But that's not going to happen—at least in the short term. So, that means the United States will have to raise the debt ceiling.

Over the long term, the United States should work to reduce its deficits, but immediate cuts of that magnitude would crash the economy, and it's not clear how it would be done. The United States could stop paying Social Security, but keep collecting Social Security taxes. That would probably do it. Or the United States could, gasp, raise taxes to pay for the services Americans apparently want.

Cut social security? Go ahead. It is what progs always accuse the repubs of doing. Cut medicare/medicaid that should never have been legislated to start with. Get out of the Ukraine AND NATO which has done nothing but stir up trouble since the reunification of Germany. There are a myriad of places to cut. GET TO IT.

Raising taxes will just encourage more grifting and money laundering by politicians. FTX, Bidenistas, and Ukraine anyone? The uniparty and China anyone?

It doesn't mean a default if the limit is not raised. It would only be a default if the debt was the only thing they would not fund. They have choices... they simply do not want to make those choices. They need to resign if they are incapable of making those choices. There... I gave them a choice.

I'm a retiree. Do not fund cost of living increases in social security, government retirements, medicare/medicaid, government pay, and pay no government bonuses. Fire the 75,000 IRS recent hires, freeze government hiring, and defund the Fauci brigade.

The United States has financial obligations. If it decides not to make good on those financial obligations, then that constitutes a default. Uncle Sam would be a deadbeat. He could try to ignore some creditors in order to pay others, such as the liquor store.

You are pretending again. Pretending that everything will be funded except the debt interest. Quit pretending. The budget can include paying ALL of the debt interest, but the other budget items will HAVE to be cut. But the Congress and you have a budget "drinking" problem and you want to keep spending beyond what is taken in with taxes. You are experiencing spending "withdrawal". I feel your pain.

Legislate or resign. Your choice.

Sure. You can eliminate the deficit to avoid having to raise the debt ceiling, but if legislation isn't passed to bring the budget into line, then not raising the debt ceiling will put the United States in default.

It is the continuing resolutions since the Obama era that have driven the budget through the roof. End the continuing resolutions and do a real budget starting from zero base.

Sure. A balanced budget is certainly possible. Clinton balanced the budget, and even created structural cash surpluses. However, absent a balanced budget deal, which is unlikely in the short term, the debt limit must be raised to avert default.

End all welfare, replace it with workfare. End all spending and funding of other countries. Make it a felony to spend one red cent on anyone who is not a citizen. Deport everyone who is not a actual citizen. Fully fund the military. That would a good start.

So now that FTX has gone bankrupt and the CEO of FTX is facing serious charges. My question is with this Democrat money laundering scheme exposed will the Democrats keep sending money to Ukraine??? THAT was part of the money laundering scheme so what do the Democrats do? Continue to send the money so it doesn't look suspicious to suddenly stop it or do they close up shop and walk away rather than continue to be associated with the fraud?

Perhaps they are still too busy wrapping up the stolen elections and covering that up. Now that we know another election was blatantly stolen another election what do Republicans do? Or more importantly what will Americans do, after all it isn't the politicians who are losing their rights and power it is common citizens.

Do you wonder why it is when a noose is found on a construction site suddenly there is a reward for thousands of dollars to find out who did it, but when an election is stolen and literally thousands of people are involved in the steal no one thinks a reward might bring out proof of the steal? Why not offer $10,000 reward to anyone who can provide provable evidence of election fraud. An extra $10,000 if they have it recorded in video or sound. I would bet that even those who were complicit in the election fraud would sell out their co-conspirators for enough cash.
