Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

'Reading Doesn’t Have to Mean Keeping Your Books Forever'
The Travelers restaurant on the CT/MA border is a favorite spot. They let you take home three free books from their library on your way out, and you can bring your unwanted books in to add to their collection. I took home a self-help book by Joseph Prince a few months ago and found $31 cash that the previous owner stashed in it. Great fisherman's platter, too. QUOTE: From the linked article: According to Cicero, if you have a library and a garden, you have everything you need. The actual phrase is "Si hortum in bibliotheca habes, deerit nihil", which translates to “If you have a garden in your library, nothing will be lacking.” The garden and library are not two separate things in Cicero's construction. The ideal is of a garden library, a natural space for thought and reflection. Flooded Electric Vehicles Spontaneously Catch On Fire In Florida After Hurricane
QUOTE: "There's a ton of EVs disabled from Ian. As those batteries corrode, fires start," according to Jimmy Patronis, Florida's top financial officer and fire marshal. https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/waterlogged-electric-vehicles-spontaneously-catch-fire-florida-after-hurricane QUOTE: Deluded media’s shock at DeSantis-Biden joint hurricane support DeSantis voted against Hurricane Sandy relief to blue states. Trump explicitly favored blue states over red states, including for disaster relief. So, yes, it's a story when DeSantis appeals for disaster relief for his red state, and then Biden quickly responds providing disaster relief. QUOTE: This is how it’s supposed to work That's right. However, this is a story because DeSantis and Trump both tried to make it not work in the past, so it represents change, both in the actions of the president, and in the evident hypocrisy of the Florida governor. False dilemma, (((Quibble-DickZ))).
Keep lying. Keep trolling. Note: During Katrina, it was all President Bush’s fault, not the democrat Governor that was not spending federal money on the levees. Plus, wasn’t there a dem congress critter with over a hundred thousand cash in his freezer? Wasn’t there a parking lot full of school buses, that could have been used for evacuation? Now, Ian, is all the Republican Governor’s fault.
You can’t be a good lefty without some rather large scoops of hypocrisy. B. Hammer: Note
Squirrel! B. Hammer: You can’t be a {politician} without some rather large scoops of hypocrisy. Fixed it for you. However, the original article was complaining that politics should stop with natural disasters, even though they didn't when DeSantis was in Congress or when Trump was president. That means it is newsworthy that Biden immediately released disaster funding without demanding a political quid pro quo. It's not hypocrisy when not voting for a pork laden bill. Especially when you campaigned on fiscal conservation. But you keep digging your hole.
B. Hammer: It's not hypocrisy when not voting for a pork laden bill.
DeSantis not only voted against the $50.5 billion relief bill, but even voted against a $9.7 billion bill which was required just to keep emergency services open. Will he argue against similar bills for Florida relief? Do you even know what the definition of a hypocrite is?
That was your original complaint, that DeSantis is a hypocrite, right? DeSantis voted against the pork laden bills, ten years ago, because both the original $60 billion and $9.7 billion bill would be fiscally irresponsible to do so. "allowing the program to increase its debt by another $9.7 billion with no plan to offset the spending with cuts elsewhere is not fiscally responsible." R. DeSantis Keep quibbling digging.

B. Hammer: Do you even know what the definition of a hypocrite is?
hypocrite : a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings To be consistent, DeSantis should be against the government borrowing money to help Florida. You know that is not his position. Or should it be. If there is ever a time to borrow, it’s when your roof has been blown off by a storm.

"DeSantis voted against Hurricane Sandy relief to blue states."
No. He voted against a larded-up bill that had little to do with Sandy relief. jimg: He voted against a larded-up bill that had little to do with Sandy relief.
That is false. In any case, as noted above, DeSantis not only voted against the $50.5 billion relief bill, but even voted against a $9.7 billion bill which was required just to keep emergency services open. Will he argue against similar bills for Florida relief? "121,882 Children as Young as 6 Tracked for ‘Transgender’ Treatment."
Then there should be 121,882 prosecutions of who ever is behind these crimes against children. I don't watch black TV shows or movies. I did once. I watched every Sanford and Son show. Back then all the black TV shows and movies had an undercurrent of racism but it wasn't the main theme. Redd Foxx would often tell racist jokes or make racist statements but in general it wasn't too in your face and the show was funny. But now the focus for these venues seems to be anti-white racism, unadulterated and unapologetic. It is like going to a KKK meeting (No I've never been to a KKK meeting). So I don't really know about some or really all of the new black (anti-white racist shows) on TV because when the hour changes and I channel surf as soon as I see it is a black TV show I move on. Of course I do because I'm not in the mood to be preached to by a racist or misandrist. I do chuckle at the irony: That is many of the left racists groups say that they are anti-racists as they pursue a racist agenda while I reject that agenda because I dislike the racism they display.
I used to love Redd Foxx, they made me laugh and at the time I needed than.
OPEC is reducing oil production by 2 million barrels a day. This obviously a poke in the eye for Biden and the West. I suspect this is about Khashoggi and the U.S. attack on Mohammed bin Salman as responsible for that death. Ask yourself why we ever gave a shit if Saudi Arabia killed Khashoggi? They kill women and men for no good reason all the time but who decided it was a big deal this time. I suspect the intent was to drive a wedge between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. I think this was part of the secret effort to reduce the power of the U.S. worldwide and we are like babes in the woods in this game. I do wish we had a free and unbiased press.
Don't forget that it's not just OPEC, it's now 'OPEC +' - which in addition to the 13 OPEC members, also now includes several non-member states (11) that also cooperate with policy initiatives like supply cuts - Like Russia for example, which petitioned for a 1 mm bbl/day cut a short time ago - and also Mexico and Venezuela.
The CDC reports that there was a 338 times increase in aids related illness in 2021 https://2ndsmartestguyintheworld.substack.com/p/cdc-confirms-usa-suffered-338x-increase The evidence shows that it is vaccinated people developing these diseases. Notice that isn't a 338% increase it is a 338 times increase. Why didn't we know this earlier? Surely some doctors and scientists saw this coming. Well they did see it and the did try to warn us on for some reason the government forced the social sites and MSM to censor it until they could get the maximum number of people vaccinated.
SillyMe: The CDC reports that there was a 338 times increase in aids related illness in 2021
Uh, no. Even if you accept a naïve interpretation of VAERS data*, that is not what the chart or the data shows. * a report to VAERS does not mean that a vaccine caused an adverse event This from the least smartest guy??? in the world.
Handwaving anyone??? Keep whining. Cry harder. There is more data available than VAERS. Let's try V-safe and why the CDC tried to hide the data. It is more than "minor" injuries.
https://stevekirsch.substack.com/p/why-did-the-cdc-hide-the-v-safe-data Because it clearly shows that these vaccines are the most dangerous vaccines we've ever created, that's why. indyjonesouthere: https://www.icandecide.org/v-safe-data/
Some peculiarities stand out. About 50% of vaccine doses were administered by May 2021, but that period accounts for 88% of all symptomatic reports. The vaccine didn't change. The obvious explanation is that early vaccine recipients were older and sicker than the general population. Also, as with VAERS, reporting does not equate to causation. You would want to compare reported symptoms to expected symptoms in the population. For instance, how many 80-year-olds with osteoarthritis can be expected to report joint pain in a given period? "Max took the vaccine and then he died." "Max got hit by a truck." "Mighty peculiar, if you ask me!" The CDC has tried hiding all data from the "vaccine". And they have tried hiding it for as long as 75 years. The peculiarities that stand out are that government institutions hide the data on the vaxx just as they tried to hide the "decline".
Max didn't take the vaxx and died Max didn't listen to Fauci and Brix Max surely deserved to die Don't be Max just take the vaxx The narrative never ends with the government and its contractors.

indyjonesouthere: And they have tried hiding it for as long as 75 years.
Legally, and rightly, the individualized data has to be withheld from the public. Releasing the data requires a detailed process of anonymization. indyjonesouthere: Max didn't take the vaxx and died The scientific evidence is that the vaccine significantly reduces the probability of severe illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID. But if Max got hit by a truck, maybe the 5G chip in the vaccine took over his brain and made him walk into the path of oncoming traffic. We note you ignored the points raised in the previous comment. Why did the vast majority of symptomatic reports occur by May 2021 and only a tiny minority after that? Without addressing that, it's impossible to take related claims seriously.

a report to VAERS does not mean that a vaccine caused an adverse event
Two huge problems with that statement. First of all it is likely it is an adverse effect which would be what prompted the report in the first place. Secondly a very small percentage of vaccine caused adverse effects are reported to VAERS and for some reason the CDC is OK with that and makes zero effort to increase reporting and the accuracy of that system. Based on your previous posts just about everything you say is the opposite of the truth. It appears that you are a Democrat/left wing/communist bot and you only refute those stories that are true but need to be hidden. So you pretty much confirmed for me and many others that this is a true story. At this point it's kind of like Liz Cheney going to a state to try to keep a Republican from being elected. That tells you all you need to know and that the person she opposes MUST get elected if we wish to save our Republic. SillyMe: First of all it is likely it is an adverse effect which would be what prompted the report in the first place.
No. For instance, if someone has a heart attack in the 30 days after vaccination, it may be an adverse reaction, or it could be because a certain percentage of people can be expected to have heart attacks within that window, especially if they are old or have a heart condition, the same people most likely to be vaccinated. SillyMe: Secondly a very small percentage of vaccine caused adverse effects are reported to VAERS and for some reason the CDC is OK with that and makes zero effort to increase reporting and the accuracy of that system. Minor adverse effects are rarely reported. If you get a sore arm or feel tired the next day, it is unlikely that it would be reported, even though it is an adverse effect. SillyMe: Based on your previous posts . . . We cited VAERS. VAERS would presumably know something about VAERS. None of this salvages the fact that they can't even read their own data correctly. I know. Free Speech. But when I see the Z-bot is cluttering up the comment section, I make a mean face and mutter under my breath. What a space and time waster. I never read what it says, just zoom on past till I get to an honest to goodness real commenter.
Keeping Your Books Forever I use to think the man who had he biggest [library] was the winner. I used to think that knowing a lot would make me a better person. But then so many things that I thought when I was younger turned out not to be true. Nobody really cares what you know. I'll be giving away most of my books (if anybody wants them)...or hauling them to the land fill (more likely).
