Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Sex Drive: How Do Men and Women Compare?


How often do men really think about sex?


WSJ via Kling's summary:



... the group of people who have done particularly well from the free-marketization of sex are men high in the personality trait that psychologists call “sociosexuality”: the desire for sexual variety.

I believe that most humans are highly sexual and sexually-motivated creatures. Many fantasies, if not action. It's about mostly-private thoughts. It is not as if men are always ready to go (although it is true that men are easily interested or seduced). Still, womens' sexual interests and fantasies are underestimated. Women always check out other women's clothing, but they check out men just as often.

Imus reported in the early 70s that studies found men thought of sex six times an hour. He only thought about it once an hour, he said, but for about 55 minutes.

"the free-marketization of sex" -- where has this occurred? Not in 49 of our 50 states. And it needs to happen.

So long as the state sets a price ceiling of zero, about half of men can never expect to get any. This wasn't always true; acceptance of what is now regarded as sexual harassment used to provide a workaround, but no longer does.

It is grossly unreasonable to expect men without that hope to behave themselves. Any supposed social contract that expects so will fall apart.

What is sexual harassment? unwelcome sexual comments or advances. It could be as simple as asking if she would like to go out for coffee. But the key is unwelcome. If she wants the man than literally nothing he says or does is sexual harassment... until he breaks up with her and then...

We have chosen a double standard for men and women. It actually makes sense, and we all know why. BUT once it is abused by the beneficiary of the double standard, which it is all the time now, its purpose is ended, there is no longer a reason to maintain the double standard. In its place the "normal" standard should be cowboy rules; you fight your own battles and fork your own hay.

It over simplifies everything. Almost every married man get's the jokes about the wife who always has a headache. Why is that if both sexes have the same sex drive?

I once worked with a young lady, we were about 22 and dated her off and on. I worked shifts and I would sometimes show up at her place about midnight. Sometimes just as another man was leaving. Sometimes I was number 2 or 3 or 4 I don't even know which. Occasionally this would be awkward if I showed up as the other guy was leaving. Why would I do this, you ask? Because I was 22 and because she was actually pretty hot. Why would she do this? Because she could never get enough. I would bet that after a few kids and 15 years of marriage she often had headaches...

Two points:

Are the bell curves identical? I doubt it. Which simply means the conclusion is meaningless

This would only matter than to homosexuals. I as a heterosexual man could care less and never know that some other man had a low sex drive.

Having many sexual fantasies does not equate to having a strong sex drive. Generally, women are satisfied with having sex less frequently than men. That's not the same thing as not thinking about sex very often. Women have sex for different reasons than men do.

In my experience, women whose sex drives rival a man's usually have some mental problems. Not serious mental illness. They just aren't the type of girls you want to marry because they come with problems that will make life unpleasant. Many of them will work through it in their youth and settle in to a life that demonstrates why the double-standard exists.
