Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"We need to rethink the meaning of public education."
We are well beyond that. We need to burn the public education system to the ground (metaphorically speaking) and sow (metaphorical) salt in the ashes. Even in the red states, this institution is corrupt beyond saving. Return education to the parents. DHS Agents Spied For China? Charged With Attempts To Suppress Critics Of CCP
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/dhs-agents-spied-china-charged-attempts-suppress-critics-ccp I look forward to the day when the media turns their attention to Liz Cheney. When the Show Trial is over, Liz will find herself at the end of the road, her usefulness to the democrats complete, she will get the Mayra Flores treatment.
I had a good chuckle reading - We May Need to Rethink the Meaning of Public Education. I’m reminded of Buggs Bunny - “Poor little maroon, so trusting, so naive.”
The people running the NYC school system have no interest in rethinking anything. They have an ideology to impose. They control the system. And there’s no way they will be giving up that power, even if the parents want change. Further, the people the author is looking to fix this mess in NYC and Albany agree with the current ideology. In a rational world the author’s recommendation would be debated and possibly implemented. However, given the current political dynamics of one-party rule in NYC / NYS, it’s all wishful thinking. "ANTISEMISM IN UKRAINE"
Are all ideological opinions wrong and require punishment? Or maybe just some opinions? IMHO everyone who embraced BLM consorted with the devil because BLM is a Marxist organization whose goal is to destroy America. That seems far more important to me today than what someone thinks about something that happened 80 years ago. Shouldn't we then, punish all supporters of BLM? Punish every company, individual, politician, group, etc.? And the punish everyone who aided or agreed with illegal immigration. And of course punish anyone who participated in or agreed with covid mandates. The list is endless. The 10 year old rape case is an example of how cowardly republicans are dealing with the press. Stacy McCain (The Other McCain) could find only three cases of a ten year old giving birth in the last 20 years. So, what are the odds that a ten year old, impregnated by a rapist, needs an abortion 6 weeks and 10 days pregnant, barely two weeks after the Dobbs decision? Keep in mind that rape and incest, account for fewer than 1% of all abortions. Seems pretty convenient, no? But Governor DeWine goes on defense. I wonder how Governor DeSantis will handle such a case? We know how Trump would have handled this: Fake news!
More likely a 28-year old that identifies as a 10-year old.
The governor has missed a golden opportunity, one that someone like deSantis would not have passed up. He should have instructed his AG to subpoena the doctor right away, and to have the state medical board also present during questioning. I'm pretty sure a felony crime of this nature would not entitle the doctor to avoid an interrogation and also an inquiry into why the crime was not reported to the authorities in the first place. From a medical ethics standpoint, there is also a list of problems.
I think it's probably likely that this activist is showboating stupidly, but that would be political paydirt either way for a governor that is interested in leading: Either the governor and his Law Enforcement branch would be actively prosecuting an instance of child rape that had been mishandled, or they would be debunking a leftist propagandist on a key Hot Button issue this coming November. PJ Media is right to say, 'This is How We Lose'. Authoritarians create a narrative around everything that they desire to control. The Russia, Russia, Russia narrative to help promote the end of Trump. The Covid narrative to help promote lockdowns for the green new deal replacement farce. The Garland narrative to promote the hate and violence against the SCOTUS. The 10 y.o. abortion candidate is just a sub narrative of the Garland lawquackery.
The authoritarians have the MSM echo chamber to keep their narrative content front and center and yet they are failing to hold the battle line. People are getting wise to their BS. A huge mass of used wet wipes has formed an 'island' that has changed the course of England's second longest river, MP says

They seemed to eat nearly everything available from their meat supply. Fat sounds more tasty to me than eye balls, lungs, intestines, testicles and so on. I still see people sticking an untrimmed piece of steak into their mouths and loving the taste. Watch some of the cooking shows that try and recreate 18th century meals and it will make you gag.
The evidence is piling up https://stevekirsch.substack.com/p/the-safe-and-effective-narrative that the covid vax is killing more people than Covid did.
...the meaning of pubic education. There will be NO reformation of the education system until the education dollars go to the parent/student rather than to the institution. The institution is corrupt and will not reform itself and we can easily see that government will send law enforcement to defend and mandate its wishes at any school. Government and government employees are too often control freaks and the only way to end that control is to remove the dollars that THEY use according to THEIR discretion. When they have no money, they have no power.
It's worth noting that the Defund the police movement was not so much about the police as it was about capturing that money to be used for other purposes. Not too different from the real purpose of the climate change agenda.
Neil Oliver, The Governing Class Discovers that People Owning Nothing Does Not Make Them Happy - The Last Refuge
“Two years ago, I gave scant thought to acronyms like WHO, UN, WEF. Now I watch them with the same attention I give to dogs that look like they might bite.”… https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2022/07/09/neil-oliver-the-governing-class-discovers-that-people-owning-nothing-does-not-make-them-happy/ von Mises writing of schooling in the context of the divisions that led to the deaths in the trenches.
QUOTE: If one leaves to the parents the choice of the school to which they wish to send their children, then one exposes them to every conceivable form of political coercion. In all areas of mixed nationality, the school is a political prize of the highest importance. It cannot be deprived of its political character as long as it remains a public and compulsory institution. There is, in fact, only one solution: the state, the government, the laws must not in any way concern themselves with schooling or education. Public funds must not be used for such purposes. The rearing and instruction of youth must be left entirely to parents and to private associations and institutions. [...] But even if we eliminate the spiritual coercion exercised by compulsory education, we should still be far from having done everything that is necessary in order to remove all the sources of friction between the nationalities living in polyglot territories. The school is one means of oppressing nationalities— perhaps the most dangerous, in our opinion— but it certainly is not the only means. Every interference on the part of the government in economic life can become a means of persecuting the members of nationalities speaking a language different from that of the ruling group. For this reason, in the interest of preserving peace, the activity of the government must be limited to the sphere in which it is, in the strictest sense of the word, indispensable.
