We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Let's raise hell in every restaurant that Samantha Bee eats in for the rest of her life. See how she likes being hounded and persecuted for differences of opinion.

The day may come where renewable energy will replace fossil fuels, but that day is probably a few centuries and a boatload of technological advances away. Until then, our government needs to quit manipulating markets and stay out of consumer decisions about what energy sources and transportation methods to use.

Biden needs to be impeached for acting against the best interests of Americans. And if the Ukrainians had any guts or intelligence, they would tell Biden and NATO/EU to go pound sand and quit sacrificing them for their proxy war.

I sure do agree with demolishing the police state that has emerged since the introduction of the Patriot Act. The FBI should be thrown on the scrap heap of history; I realize that will never happen. Would a mass firing of all the Top Men, be to much to ask?

And while the Education department needs to be eliminated, the top priority of a GOP controlled Congress next year should be the restoration of Americas energy independence. I can think of no better way to fight inflation than cheap energy.

Until there is a change in the presidency, the only thing a Republican Congress can do is investigate Biden's corruption and block Biden's excesses. He will veto anything they propose and pass.

Republican leadership could block Bidens budget bills and department appointments, but I haven't seen either leader confront much of anything that Biden comes up with. To the contrary it seems the McConnell is especially happy to appoint his favored sidekicks, Cornyn and Thune, to lead the way on uniparty policy making.

In 1949, there weren't as many opportunities for women to find good-paying jobs and they couldn't afford to get divorced. With the rise in women's lib, no-fault divorce, and the welfare state, single motherhood became an option and, with single motherhood no longer carrying any stigma, why not let Uncle Sucker carry the load?

Looks like the Dutch might finally be getting triggered, now that their government is taking active, elective action to shut down their food supply. I don't blame them for taking to the streets.

If Conservatives want to lead after winning, they will have to become determined to do both. What I see now on the back of the Roe decision, in Purple states - where the big cities are Blue and the countryside Red - is not a winning strategy. To govern, you have to first win. To win, you have to first collect enough willing voters that believe in your governing message. That is not what they're doing. I suspect most of them prefer losing and pretending to be principled, because coming in second is almost as lucrative as being first in this game.

Illinois, Chicago in particular, is a very good examples of the extremes that can be reached in a corrupted society when you try to use legislation to control moral choices.

In Holland MASSIVE demonstrations are going on by farmers because the Dutch government is literally bankrupting them. This is not getting into our news feed even though it is a Big F---n deal as Joe would say. If they were demonstrating for the right for women to kill babies it would be all over the news. But they are opposed to their woke government who is trying to shut down farming to reduce nitrogen in order to save the planet "or something" so the MSM doesn't want to give it coverage. Democracy dies in darkness.

You know... I don't wish any bad luck for Basketball player Brittney Griner but the schadenfreude is there and I'm enjoying it. She has said she hates America and dishonors it by kneeling for the anthem and now Russia has her in jail for something she did that was stupid on her part and she is begging for the good old US of A to save her traitorous ass. I will bet good money when she gets back to this great country she will continue to disrespect and dishonor it. Yeah... I hope they lock her up for a long time.

I've had two. First one died of cancer. Then the two neighbor women next to me set me up with a blind date, which worked, and we're married.
