We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Bandstand Boogie or American Bandstand by Les Elgart is a favorite and don't forget Ernest Borgnine for great persons from legacy/vintage America.
We loved the Honyemooners after school as lil' shavers and the POW! right in the kisser tagline from Jackie.
Could you imagine anyone saying that today, there would be a meltdown in the safespace as the crayons and coloring books ran out.
Sheriff Buford T. Justice is a classic role from Smokey and the Bandit.
Recently watching Buddy Rich, Rodney Dangerfield, on The Johnny Carson Show and I loved it when Joan Rivers would host as a youngster, so hot!
IIRC, he held himself out as a drummer.
Regardless, many conductors never play or sing a note in their role as a director/conductor. On the uptick, some of the best know directors were outstanding musicians not least of whom would be Leonard Bernstein.
To my limited experience, nearly all of the musicians I have know could play a piano, "a wee bit".
Being able to "play" a piano is an extraordinary large expanse of ability... and I will never claim to be a piano player. But I do know how it works :-)
See also: Bobby Hackett who played on so many Jackie Gleason recordings. Wonderful lush music. I suspect many a child was conceived while the parents were listening the Gleason's shimmering, romantic orchestra.
When I was young, my Dad used to listen to his collection of Jackie Gleason records. They were great, and mostly instrumental. I then started to listen to them myself.
I have not done so in a while, so this is a reminder to do so again.
