Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Oh boy! Another health recommendation for drinking brew from the bean. Not for the young because, stunt your growth. Start counting down the weeks or days where a new study says coffee bad!
Kissinger and UNZ got it wrong. First they misstate the facts: "Our basic strategy is to “weaken” and “isolate” Russia by severing Russia’s economic ties with Europe and goading them into a long and costly quagmire in Ukraine."
That is not the "plan" The only "plan" was Russia's "plan". The goal in Ukraine is simply to support Ukrainians in fighting to keep their country. The major aim is to make sure that Russia pays a price for their invasion that will make them think twice before they invade the next European country. That's it!!! Not to support Zelenskyy. Not to bring democracy to Ukraine. Not to confront Russia. But simply to support Ukrainians in fighting to keep their country. The other view:
'It Became Necessary to Destroy the Country to Save It' QUOTE: I’ve argued for years that partition is the best solution for Ukraine, which never was a country but an amalgam of provinces left over from failed empires–Russian, Austrian, Lithuanian, Ottoman–cobbled together into a Soviet “republic” and cast adrift after the collapse of Communism. Lviv (Lemberg) was a German-speaking city, part of Silesia; before World War II a quarter of its people were Jews. Jews were two-fifths of the population of Odessa. A fifth of the population, mainly in the East, are ethnic Russians; a tenth, mainly in the West, are Uniate Catholics, who have a special place in Catholic policy since the papacy of John Paul II. Ukrainian nationality is as dubious as Byelorussian nationality: neither of them had a dictionary of their language until 1918. . . . It is of no strategic, economic, or demographic importance to the West. https://pjmedia.com/spengler/2022/05/30/it-became-necessary-to-destroy-the-country-to-save-it-n1602025 Biden has been wrong on almost every foreign policy position for his entire career. That track record leads me to think he is wrong on Ukraine as well. YMMV of course. I don't disagree but it all begs the question. All of these things are up to the Ukrainians. They chose to fight rather than give up.
IF Ukraine had said to Putin we will move all our people to Western Ukraine and you can have Eastern Ukraine do you really believe that he would have been satisfied with that??? Of course not. He would have happily taken Eastern Ukraine and then gone to war to take Western Ukraine. AND then he would have been so happy with how easy it was he would invade Poland or some other Eastern European country. There is ONLY one right response to anyone who would invade your country "Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in". If that means the country is destroyed then so be it, but never give up! Agree. Most of the area was once known as Poland Lithuania and Poland would even like a part of Eastern Ukraine back again. The State Dept and CIA were behind the 2014 revolt that removed the Russian speaking president. He had been legally elected, and they had even tried to impeach him but failed. Sounds familiar doesn't it. The country is corrupted to the core and to gain more influence with the US it has become a money laundering capitol of the world. There is a reason that young Biden, Pelosi, Kerry, and Romney had Ukrainian "jobs" mostly surrounding the oil business of which none of them had any experience. They were purchased by Ukrainian oligarchs to gain US protection from their corrupted behavior. Ukraine leadership is a criminal organization and needs to be treated as such. The US is willing to fight to the last Ukrainian and to the last bankrupted European country. Nato is being used as a tool against Russia and it is not in the interests of Europe or what is left of the Ukraine people and its biolabs.
I don't disagree with most of what you said but my problem with it is that there are 10-20 million Ukrainians that your comments don't apply to. They are Ukrainians not Russians, not Poles they are Ukrainians and they are not corrupt they merely live in a part of the world where governments are corrupt and must be corrupt to survive. They are good people and don't deserve to be absorbed or killed by Russia. As a people they are less corrupt than the population of NY City and work twice as hard. They will lose this fight, maybe not lose all of their country but they cannot win against Russia. But, they should fight and they are fighting and I hope they make Russia pay dearly for the land that they are grabbing.
Coffee: If you have gastritis like I do, I recommend Low Acid Coffee. I've been drinking "Healthwise" for years.
Tom Cruise is an interesting guy. I don’t know all his movies, but the ones I have seen are entertaining. I enjoy watching them. I know a little about Scientology, it has some evil aspects. Like most normal people, I can separate the actor from the person; I watch movies to be entertained. All the reviews that I have read say that Top Gun is good entertainment, with the added bonus of being very patriotic American. Is it any wonder the Left hates it?
Once you understand that the Left pretty much hates anything American or pro West, and that they lie with impunity, about everything, then you will learn to ignore them. The Left must be defeated and nuked from orbit. Unfortunately, or fortunately, we mere mortals can not do this on our own. The father of lies is the spirit that animates the left. The Devil can not be defeated without Devine intervention. Pray for guidance. Pray for those that have come under the influence of the evil one. May the Holy Spirit guide them to the Light. A Disturbing Poll in the Aftermath of the Attempted Assassination of Brett Kavanaugh
QUOTE: According to a recently released poll, nearly half of male Democrats under the age of 50 (44 %) say it’s acceptable to assassinate a politician “who is harming the country or our democracy,” the highest percentage of any age/gender/party demographic. . . . also found that nearly a third of younger Democrat women and younger Republican men agreed with the statement, as did 40% of younger Republican women. Perhaps the most striking aspect of the poll is the generational difference. Older men and women of either party are significantly less likely to approve of the assassination of political opponents than their younger counterparts. Party identification aside, it is clear that the younger generations are not being taught to respect the lives of others, particularly of their political opponents. https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/matt-margolis/2022/06/09/a-disturbing-poll-in-the-aftermath-of-the-attempted-assassination-of-brett-kavanaugh-n1604326 Five questions for the J6 committee https://thefederalist.com/2022/06/09/5-questions-that-must-answered-before-the-j6-committee-begins-its-theatrical-production/ It really does look like a false flag event.
There is an interesting correlation between shortages and sabotage. When fertilizer suddenly was in short supply we had suspicious destruction of fertilizer plants. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and predict some suspicious destruction of American oil refinery installations. We have already had some shut down and are straining with what's left to meet even reduced demand. What happens if a couple refineries somehow were to catch fire? Yes! I know. This is tin foil hat territory. No one is sabotaging our country (except the Democrats of course. They are definitely sabotaging our country.). Don't be silly. Everything's fine... Oh look the J6 committee is on TV...
The new urban paradigm. It requires an end to immigration both legal and illegal. The wealthy, like Bloomberg, want cheap imported labor and goods. That leaves little to no room for a middle class which is what drives city life. The other problem is that the cities have a permanent, unskilled, uneducated, welfare class that has learned that it can smash and grab its way to a better life along with its entitlement programs. You can not build a city without changing the old paradigm and the blue city politics will not change their ways. Adding more Muslim, black, and MS13 to the city will simply hurry the destruction along.

It’s worth the time to read, although it gave me pause when the first sentence begins with California being conquered by the United States. It’s not like the Mexicans were doing anything with California, in the decades prior to 1840’s. Read Two Years Before the Mast, by Richard Henry Dana, for a good overview of the place prior to the conquest.
I learned about how lefty policies are destroying a neat city. It has taken decades to get to its current state. I learned that a body can lay dead on the sidewalk for 11 hours, before being picked up. Rampant drug use, crime and boarded up stores. Feces, smells of urine. Needles, and litter everywhere. The author didn’t say, but the last Republican mayor was George Christopher, he left office in 1964. I learned that, in San Francisco, calling someone a republican, is about as degrading a comment as you can make; right there with the n word. The author never came out and said it, but it will be republican values that save the city. My take on the article was a question; where is the identity politics which everyone else writes about, writes about ad nausem; either there is something else going on in SF or there isn't. And I drove the Woolsy site twice today; we tried to go out to dinner and for various reasons ate at home. The City is still bleeding out.
"The head of CVS Health’s organized-crime division has called San Francisco “one of the epicenters of organized retail crime."
I CAN NOT see that happening. Frisco is LETTING this happening, i.e. they DON'T CARE. Pizza Hut features 'drag kids' book for children as young as kindergarten: I trust parents will not go to Pizza (of shit) Hut. College requires students, faculty to agree they’ve benefited from white privilege: DON'T--Find a real college! The absurdity of California’s slave reparations bill: All their slaves are now dead and gone. Does anyone hear know of any slaves??? DHS to adopt the 'Abbott plan,' moving migrants deeper into the US: Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard? Sounds WONDERFUL to me! I gave up on THE ATLANTIC yearrrrrs ago. And Cheezy Boudin makes it worse than before. Ukrain: In my first assignment in the Air Force, one of our members was a Ukrainian. His wife was a Pole. That was in 1967. |
