Now, since we don’t have involuntary commitment (or is it very difficult to employ?) there are more crazy people on the street, but what we’re finding out now is that the police stood outside the school for over a half hour keeping parents from going into the school before they went into the school to save the kids.

The answer to the question, “Why do you carry a gun?” used to be! “Because a policeman is too heavy.” If this an example of the effectiveness of police, the question answers itself.

The whole narrative is specious. Anyone who reads Clancy, Baldacci, and their ilk know, that in a gun-free world, the nut in our neighborhood knows nine and sixty ways of killing large numbers of people clandestinely, and with little preparation, as soon as 3PM, PDT.

In 2018 39 children were killed in school shooting. 900 died by drowning. 1800 were killed by their parents or caregivers. The Democrat solution to those 39 deaths is to take away everyone's 2nd amendment rights. But the Democrats could give a shit less about the 900 who drowned or the 1800 killed by their parents. What the Democrats need to do is be consistent: No more swimming for children, can't swim until you are over 18. Parents must be registered and trained before they can have children and then re-registered every year until the kids are over 18.

There! Fixed it!

About 3900 young people die every year while texting and driving. Where is the outrage? This isn't even a constitution protected right. Ban cell phones for teens. Ban driving for teens. Makes more sense than infringing on the gun rights of innocent and honest Americans just because some nut case shots people.

We know that if this school shooter was "white" we would be inundated with claims of white supremacy. BUT he was "male" so I have already seen stories blaming this on men. But now it seems that the shooter was or aspired to be a trans. Hmmm! That's problematic. The shooter was over 18 and he was mentally ill and his gender confusion was part of that mental illness and his family and friends knew it. But in today's social climate could they say that he was mentally ill and not be subjected to claims that they were biased against gays/trans?

NHS Monkeypox - The word still makes me laugh. I have made many humorous comments about monkeypox over the past 15+ years. This situation is a bit surreal. Re: NHS. Dishonesty in any field is bad; in medicine it has the potential to be catastrophic.

State Farm Exec - They should be fired. This wasn't an accident, they knew what they were doing.

As our country devolves into a national disaster on all fronts we wonder who is actually in charge. We can see that it isn't Biden he is just the teleprompter read. It may be his cabinet but clearly it is also made up of incompetent people. Some claim that it is Obama and that is possible but Obama proved to be quite lazy and not exactly capable when he was in office I suspect he is happy just sitting on the couch in his mansion and not actively running the government from behind the curtains. So who is running the U.S. government AND is their apparent incompetence the actual fact or is all this an intentional act?

A better piece than I thought it would be.

One wonders how much of a financial hit State Farm will take over this?

OTOH, It looks like senior management is taking all the right steps for damage control.

Rather than doubling down on this disaster and telling their cuatomers to pound sand, they immediately ended the relationship and apologized. Furthermore they are reviewing all their charitible giving for other time bombs and will change the process for which such donations are approved.

IMO, heads need to roll as a warning to other State Farm employees that they will be held accountable for disasters of this magnitude. It would also show the public that State Farm is serious about not letting this happen again.

I was thinking exactly that. He is working on an updated version that should be out next year, so watch for it! Once the idea that it was possible percolated down to the graduate students who were actually out in the valleys and mountains (and flying over and observing with sophisticated photography) the idea that "Hey, there's a lot out here that sure looks man-made" exploded through the research underground. This finding is remarkable, but not at all shocking.

I had a Meso-American cultures course in 1975 and learned all the major known cultures of the time. There are three times as many now, and plenty of finds like this that have yet to be tied to anything.

My prediction: the Old World to New World disease vectors will again explain why all these towns and cities that were seen by the first explorers rapidly disappeared. It will be hard to incorporate into current theories of Europeans genocidally slaughtering natives, but it will turn out to be how most of them actually died. It's just as tragic, maybe even sadder, but it has no political use now so it will be hard to get it into the textbooks for a while.

So predictably the media is bringing on talking heads who are saying that 18 yo's should not be allowed to buy "these" kind of guns. Presumably if the shooter had waited until he was 21 then it would be OK with these fools. OK lets say we change the age to 21 and lets say we proffer an argument for that. First I would say that 18 yo's shouldn't vote or have sex either or smoke or drink or maybe even drive and most certainly not go into the military. Just as clearly no one under the age of 21 should be allowed to make gender changes either. But 99% of the people in America would not agree with all those restrictions. Either you are an adult with full rights or you are not. So which is it? Are you an adult at 18 or is it going to be 21? Or as one pundit on TV suggested age 26?

All of this begs the question; which is do we punish the 99.99% of honest folks out of stupid over reaction to what the .01% do OR do we use common sense. Do e take away everyone's drovers license because some people drive drunk or do we only punish the drunken driver?

Interesting fact: More people are killed every year in the U.S. by hammers than by so-called assault rifles. So where is the outrage against Ace Hardware selling assault hammers to minors or to anyone?

And of course all of this ignores thew 108,000 people killed by illegal drugs most of it manufactured by China and brought across our intentionally open border by Mexicans. Aren't those lives important too?
