Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"Canadian university pulls LGBTQ poster after Muslim community complains"
Gotta give credit where credit is due - Islam is right about women and gays. Replace the hijab with any other religiously-connected symbol to get crickets.
"Woke capitalism is rational, but it is also unsustainable."
Well, I disagree with this statement. 'Woke' anything is not rational, because it isn't being argued or presented rationally - it's being presented as a multiplied, bullying force. Woke capitalism is an attempt to replace the fundamental incentives of self-interest that drive capitalism, and replace them with other incentives that have little to do with the individual's self-interest. It's an attempt to harness the energy of capitalism while hijacking its rewards from the participant, directing them instead to its own interests. If 'Woke' capitalism were rational, then the participants would embrace its philosophy with gusto. Is that happening? No. Not rational, and ultimately, a failure. And rightly so. QUOTE: Wokeness is a luxury good. It gets cut in a down economy. The Joe Biden Disaster Economy might be the greatest weapon against wokeness the right could have ever hoped for. "Wokeness" is making believe that your biases and rudeness is the only truth and then is used to punish those you disagree with.
Wokeness is narcissism. Quite literally a psychological disorder.
https://psychcentral.com/health/types-of-narcissism#antagonistic It's mainly communal narcissism, but can readily have elements of the others. >'Woke' anything is not rational,
I think it makes sense from the narrow perspective of the ladder-climbing employee. Their #1 goal is to maintain their standing w/i the woke capitol world, as that allows them to move on to the next position in a few years. Business results is a distant #2, as they'll probably have moved before the negative consequences of their decisions manifest. And, even in the worse case, they can probably spin failures as a learning experience. I think Zachinoff is hitting closer to the mark, as is OldCurmudgeon.
You are right about the hijacking of rewards but it's not because of a replacement of self-interest, as status-seeking and virtue-signaling are just as self-interested as any profit motive. Woke Capitalism is also entirely rational within a framework that has been created to direct rewards based on 'equity', DIE, and glo-bull warming. When that framework can no longer support it, Woke Capitalism will wither. People might play 'woke' to accumulate social standing, but nobody is opening their home to immigrants, are they? Nobody is donating their paycheck to BLM. We would hear about it, because as a phenomenon it would be golden. It's posturing, not endorsement. The people climbing the 'woke' social ladder are gaming the system to their immediate advantage, but these are parasitic games that depend upon the capitalist system continuing to function reasonably efficiently, so business can still grow.
The number of gamers is now becoming significant, with big money pools like BlackRock and Vanguard entering the game, influencing outcome and creating imbalance. But the only way the parasite survives, is for the host to survive. The capitalist host can't survive with the profit motive to investors being redirected without their buy-in, as their buy-in would translate to welcoming a loss of capital because the customer base is being divided instead of consolidated. It's not rational, it's all driven by influencing, emotional; it's already played out in some devastating quarterly performances, and an absence of stellar quarters in the most vociferous proponents. Too bad Milton Friedman isn't still around to comment on this lunacy. To me, it's another expression of the huge powerful leverage that modern communications has brought us, that has unfortunately been coupled with modern psychological technology to enhance its power. We are inundated, prodded subtly, continuously, to modify our behavior into alignment with the latest 'thing'. The technology that drives this is societal poison, the way it is being utilized - IMO. Imagine what would be attainable with better motives. QUOTE: On January 18, 2022, State Farm’s Corporate Responsibility Analyst Jose Soto sent out an internal email calling on its Florida agents to participate in a “unique project” to “diversify” classrooms, community centers and libraries. In the email, Soto said State Farm had partnered with the GenderCool Project to get books about being transgender and non-binary in front of schoolkids as young as 5-years-old. Well guess what??? https://amgreatness.com/2022/05/23/state-farm-does-a-180-after-its-caught-pushing-lgbtq-books-to-schoolkids-as-young-as-5-we-no-longer-support-that-program/ Funny how all the woke people and places always bow down to the Muslims. If you are Christian and complain they charge you with some offense.
Most Muslims have brown skin, which makes them sacrosanct to White Liberals.
The Obama/Clinton hyper-politicization of the administrative state has separated the entire public into two sides with no chance for any reconciliation. I do think the fascist authoritarians in both the admin state and the democrat/socialist party will fail as they actually believe an economy can thrive by simply mandating outcomes. RICO will not function under the current political setting but actually requires a law following administration. We do not have one now.
Our government is incompetent at all levels not just the presidency. Our DOJ and FBI is corrupt and dangerous to our country. We are facing multiple extremely serious crisis's any one of which would be a national disaster. A global food crisis, potential world war, A massive housing bubble that is collapsing, Inflation that the FED is afraid to deal with because of political reasons, A stock market on the precise of a massive crash, A national debt that we could never pay off and will never pay off but with rising interest rates will destroy our government. None of these crisis's can be avoided but they could be dealt with in a way that would lessen the impact and avoid the worst consequences imaginable. But they won't be, the Democrats playbook is to use any crisis to increase their power and take away our constitutional rights. These coming disasters will happen and the results could well be apocalyptic for our country and our citizens. All of these things are happening right now slowly at first then suddenly. It's coming.
Everclear for the pandemic? That's foolish. For alcohol to work effectively on germs/viruses, it needs water. That's why 70% is the common dilution for disinfection. But for the SARS 2.0 virus, it was shown early on that even at 20% (40 proof) ethanol was effective.
I kept vodka around for internal disinfection, such as gargling after the dentist visit. Or when I felt something coming on or I might have been around some risk to clear out virus in the mouth. You have to get it in the mouth and/or nose, let it replicate a bit then it goes down the windpipe to the lungs. Most viruses don't do well in the lower respiratory system, but SARS 2.0 did and so could set up shop. Keep your mouth rinsed and you keep the viral load down. |
