We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Blacks suppress white vote in Mississippi. Yes, I guess the blacks have entered the mainstream. Lucianne
Does diversity damage society? Quite possibly. Democracy Project. For one thing, it seems to breed distrust.
Ned Lamont is worth between 90 and 300 million. So the 9 million he has spent thus far to buy Lieberman's seat is pocket change. Calif. Yank. Now, he said on TV that he would consider attacking Iran. What's the deal, Ned? Gee, what if Kim Sung Mentally Ill doesn't want to have an honest, civilized, country club conversation? What then?
18 Doughty Street is on the internet air: an alternative to the Bolshevik Broadcasting Corp. Why can't they broadcast? (h/t, Instapundit)
Riddle me a riddle: Our readers love these -
There are three balls. One is red. Each of the others is either white or black. Now I give you a choice between two lotteries.
Lottery A: You win a prize if we draw a red ball. Lottery B: You win a prize if we draw a white ball.
For a number of reasons, that's not an easy question to answer. But Thespis Journal has some numbers that supports the idea that money has little to do with it. (Who would believe that there are public school districts out there that spend an astounding $51,828 on each student?)
The 95 things that fuel Moslem extremism, at Jihad Watch. It's ironic, of course. It fuels itself.
Jack and Charmaine - now totally married. Mazel Tov! And many happy joint returns!
I am reminded of the three different times that I have personnally witnessedthe Democratic party using real estate as a bribe for it's "enablers". Two Witnesses to federal student loan fraud were bribed with nicer homes. A third--a hired hand attempting to extort funds-- was rewarded with a nicer house. Another saboteur was rewarded with a better apartment. Best of all, of course was that in the beginning, when I first began our effort to leave a certain academic institution, one of our "empowered faculty" offered us a very good deal on a house. I told her to forget it. I just wanted out, and back to a community, who worked within the framework of some mutually agreed upon ethics. Her response was that I could not live in a union state and have my freedom to choose.
What I am really curious about though is this: the house where the extortionist was put up during her stay in our state. During the time she was stalking me, and attempting to force me to force my husband into signing a fraudulent NSF grant applicaiton. During those few short months, she was housed in a very nice water front home overlooking the city. That house has never been located in the country records. According to the county that house does not exist.
