We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Re: Climate Cult Says You May No Longer Have Your Wood Fireplace
Just another hypocritical position by Greenies! One of the energy sources that is supported by Greenies (as exposed by Michael Moore's "Planet of the Humans" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zk11vI-7czE&t=5sis) is "biomass" which is just trees that are burned to generate power. So Greenies can burn trees to preserve the environment and "save the planet" but you can't?
I hope the Greenies outlaw forest fires too. In the Denver area, two of the past three years, the source of most of our air quality issues has been forest fires - most of them from the West Coast. One of the biggest local forest fires, was ignited by a forest service ranger, setting a dear Jane letter on fire. We've had no burn days in the metro area since at least the early eighties. Is there anything the left won't try and outlaw? Yes. Abortions' and grooming children.
Growing up we had a wood stove to heat the living room. It was cheap in the sense that we didn't have to pay money for fuel - just labor. Most of the summer would be spent felling trees, and cutting/splitting logs from our wood lot. The wood lot was land we had access to which had trees free for the taking as long as we did the labor; nor did we over harvest it as we knew it had to last for future generations.
The wood stove was also the ONLY source of heat when a storm took out the electricity. Even though we had a fuel oil furnace it wouldn't run without the electrical starter.
Without that wood lot it would have been much more expensive to heat our home. I guess today we should have a natural gas lot?! Yea, that will work, let's do a little home grown natural gas extraction!
