Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"How nutty was Kate Millett? " I've said it before and I'll say it again, one woman can be quite intelligent but a group of women can be really stupid and damn dangerous.
"Carville: Majority of Republicans Are ‘Weirdos’ in The ‘Twilight Zone’", Has Carville looked in the mirror lately and around the leftist rooms? ‘Weirdos’ in The ‘Twilight Zone’
Carville (-vile?) needs to learn about the ecological fallacy. Besides, the sun isn't as hot here in the Twilight Zone, the neighbors are nice people. Mike Anderson: Carville (-vile?) needs to learn about the ecological fallacy.
He's apparently referring to Republican political and media leadership, not the Republican polity in general. For instance, Tucker Carlson is now promoting testicle tanning for manliness (in a definitely very much not absolutely not homoerotic way). https://www.youtube.com/embed/JVjIBmM20wE?start=0&end=49 The whole "testical tanning" schtick is either (a) the biggest send-up since spaghetti trees or (b) really bad advice for those of us with fair, sensitive skin.
Republican leadership is dangerously close to being an oxymoron. If I may be permitted a neologism, I propose "neuroticracy", the idea that all of society must be ordered to support the whims of the most neurotic members
of course how you arbitrate between those who require their emotional support dogs to function and those paralytically phobic about dogs is an excersise left for the suddenly relavant government agencies to decide. The most unhinged response to the end of the travel mask mandate? The Biden Administration wants to appeal the ruling!
Who, exactly, do they think that is going to please-- whichever way it ends up? Biden Administration Set To Appeal Ruling That Lifted Mask Mandate For Travel
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/biden-administration-set-appeal-ruling-lifted-mask-mandate-travel What is it they say about holes and digging? They must lay awake nights trying to think of politically unpopular actions to implement. Hairless Joe: Who, exactly, do they think that is going to please-- whichever way it ends up?
It depends on whether you consider governing an important part of the government's job. Consider a future respiratory pandemic, one which has an even higher death rate. (COVID killed over a million Americans.) The ruling says the government is not empowered to enforce mask mandates on public interstate transport. The ruling is very poorly drafted, ignores the statutory text, and is apparently a conclusion made in advance of the opinion. Furthermore, the court didn't even stay the ruling pending appeal. On the other hand, if doing the unpopular but necessary thing is not part of the president's job, no matter the circumstance, then sure, you have a point. Another BS reply from petty despot (((zachriel))) as she lives down to the stereotype.
This is not about allowing government to govern. Quite the opposite. But then again, you're a liar. You didn't understand the ruling obviously, since it described the limitations of the government and that it failed to meet the requirements for continuation of the mandate. And if you or government were concerned about Covid (and your alleged 1M deaths) then you'd do something about it, not enforce a mask mandate that has questionable scientific merit. But since you aren't interested in doing something real, then we can logically conclude you're not concerned about 1M dead, you're just concerned about gov't enforcing ridiculous rules. "since you aren't interested in doing something real, then we can logically conclude you're not concerned about 1M dead, you're just concerned about gov't enforcing ridiculous rules"--exactly this.
Texas99: since you aren't interested in doing something real, then we can logically conclude you're not concerned about 1M dead, you're just concerned about gov't enforcing ridiculous rules
The point raised by Hairless Joe, which you ignored, concerned whether the president should do what he considers necessary even if it is unpopular. In any case, your "logical conclusion" doesn't follow. Various social measures can reduce the R0 (reproduction number) of contagions, saving lives. With regards to respiratory diseases, masks can help, but mass vaccination when available is the surest safeguard of public safety.

"Masks can help" is not the same as "masks helped". QED
My logic holds quite nicely, b/c your futile efforts didn't address my point, you simply tried again to change the narrative. You are a failure at logic because you try to deceive, I've pointed this out repeatedly and you provided yet another example. And if you are concerned about Hairless Joe's original point, then why didn't YOU address it? You veered off topic, and got caught in your dishonest again. So answer your own question before you go pointing at others. And finally, what are your medical qualifications and credentials? You keep posting medical advice, but you know as much about that as you do physics, chemistry, history and all the other subjects you lie about. Good for you Torch. Either she doesn't respond to you anymore or you flummoxed her. Win, win!

DrTorch had repeatedly used anti-Semitic symbols and claims he enjoys posting just to cause a reaction (a.k.a. trolling). Consequently, we have put DrTorch on ignore. To return to the topic, the "logical conclusion" posted by Texan99 doesn't hold (false dilemma). Even if you were to believe that vaccination doesn't work, that doesn't mean others don't think it does, and therefore they would consider vaccination a reasonable response to a deadly pandemic rather than a lack of concern for the dead as claimed.

Texan was quoting Torch, so it is DrTorch that you need to respond to with false dilemma nonsense. Do try and keep up. I know it's hard for you. Subject changes, which you inject, can be hard keep up with. The original topic was Joe Biden's unhinged response to the ending of the mask mandate.

I'm getting curious now about this perpetual re-hashing of the new, supposedly anti-Semitic punctuation code . Is this similar to the Reddit scheme, whereby the autists were able to persuade the perpetually-offendable that the "OK" sign (thumb and forefinger together for the "O", three other fingers up) was actually a secret signal among White Supremacists or something? Complete hoax, perpetuated ad-infinitum whenever a Trump-themed story could accommodate it? Or is this a something started by a bunch of actual nitwitted anti-Semites that has now been coined as an absurdity? Technical question: What does this mean: (((Nazi))) - when translated according to the New Rule?

B. Hammer: Texan was quoting Torch
Regardless of the source, Texan99 owned the claim. The false dilemma is due to positing that either they do “something real” or they don’t care about the dead. This excludes the possibility that they care, but they want to do something that may not be “real” (they care, but are wrong), or that you may not agree is “real” (they care, and you are wrong). Aggie: I'm getting curious now about this perpetual re-hashing of the new, supposedly anti-Semitic punctuation code . Deniability is a fundamental aspect of alt-right trolling. In this case, there is no other plausible reading. What? You think it’s a stuck keyboard? Hugs?

No, it was a link to Google Search where the robot types it out for you with a snarky comment: sarcasm. And you still haven't answered any of my questions.
I despise Antisemitism in all of its forms, whether it's from alt-right conservative nazi's, or campus Free Palestine flavors, or Muslim Congressmen insinuating it's 'All About the Benjamins'. They are despicable to a one; the first group is far smaller than the second one. But the citations you have provided in your Google search are nearly all Progressive sources quoting in solidarity against the alt-right Menace. In other words, many of them come to the task biased and proceed to work themselves into a false hysteria about punctuation~! The argument and the idea is weak and stupid. In fact, one of the articles is a story about how a liberal uses the (((echo))) to spice up a twitter conversation. In my youth I had a summer job waiting on elderly New York Jews, a large percentage of them holocaust survivors. As a group, the singularly kindest, nicest people I have ever come across, a uniquely rich interpersonal experience in my early life. Kind people, in a way where even ignorant youths can see they have been through horror in their life, and persevered through it to emerge at peace with the world. Nobody is going to convincingly promote Antisemitism with punctuation marks, it will always remain a stupid inside joke for people in a room nobody else wants to visit. And nobody is going to believe that being trolled with it without even knowing if the target is Jewish, is somehow an egregious offense. It's trolling. It's stupid. Surely you're mature enough to ignore it, without being so foolish as to put an offender on 'ignore' and then proceed to lecture the rest of the readers about the horrors of punctuation marks received from the excluded people.

Indeed, the answer was to be found on the link. Aggie: But the citations you have provided in your Google search are nearly all Progressive sources quoting in solidarity against the alt-right Menace. So, the link did answer your question. You just didn't like the answer. Nor have you provided an alternative explanation for the use of triple parentheses. Aggie: Surely you're mature enough to ignore it We responded to B. Hammer's comment. We probably should have ignored it, but thought readers deserved an explanation. Aggie: It's trolling. Why do trolls troll? Because it works. Note that you continued to argue about the anti-Semitic symbol—without evidence, even disregarding the evidence—because the alternative is to acknowledge the use of anti-Semitic symbols. We apologize for our part in the diversion. https://www.iwgtfy.com/?q=%22triple+parentheses%22

1. A Google search is not an answer from you. The questions were to you, and as we can see above, you see it as fair game to ascribe responsibility for responses. You did not answer.
2. Similarly, the Google search does not provide the answer to whether or not you are Jewish, and neither have you. There is no need for you to do this (the point is moot) - but the fact remains, you have not answered. 3. I neither like nor dislike the 'answer' in the form of a Google search result. As I have said very clearly, I despise Antisemitism in all of its forms. But I think the liberal 'Free Palestine' movement as being more strongly-supported by institutions and eminently more toxic, and think the whole argument on the echo is both weak and stupid and wholly unconvincing on its premise, by comparison. It will never be anything but an inside joke for hateful people or a trolling tactic. It will never serve to expand Antisemitism in the same way institutionalized, organized methods aim to. There is no 'alternate explanation' necessary for stupidity and that's why I didn't offer one. That does not conflate with not 'liking the answer'. 4. Trolling only works if one is susceptible to goading. Suggest you try ignoring instead.

re Global Rice Production Set To Plunge 10%, Threatening Half Of Humanity
IMO market distortions caused by governments (artificially low rice prices) might cause a bigger reduction in rice production than high fertilizer prices. Black Swan Event? Top US Fertilizer Producer Hit With Rail Delays To Midwest https://www.zerohedge.com/commodities/black-swan-event-top-us-fertilizer-producer-hit-rail-delays-midwest I fon't know that this is as bad as it is made out to be. Fertilizer can be applied as late as July. There is still time to get fertilizer delivered to US farmers. One wonders about a severe drought in a major grain growing region. If that comes to pass, Katy bar the door. Whatever happens, the Biden administration is not up to the task of dealing with it. And the hits just keep coming.

Well, they're about to lose their nice tax breaks in FL, and it's essential to keep hammering away at these groomers until they say uncle. I think Millett and her pals were an effect, not a cause. They read the times and hastened these things - maybe - but secular changes were the drivers. This is what often happens among liberals in particular, though it is not unknown among libertarians and conservatives. People who are very sensitive to social trends imitate them and come to believe that they have created them. As with many inventions, the real heroes and culprits don't get the credit.
Gramsci might be one who does get proper notice. More than the more famous Marx and Engels, actually. Our ancient ancestors didn't get caries, or at least didn't die from septic diseases caused by that, because they didn't live long enough to develop those conditions. Sort of like cancer.
