Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Our political leaders seem absolutely determine to get America involved in the Ukraine crisis directly, whether the public supports it or not. This bloody-minded age of social media and instantaneous communications has made society into a function where the worst ideas get out in front of reality, and then are used as a cudgel by media to move society in directions it won't normally go.
As for these brilliant sanctions, Milton Friedman must be slapping his forehead. Russia has spent 40 years working to get a market economy in place, and now America is going to strip out its big business franchise to 'teach them a lesson'. What a huge favor: Obesity is down, and the market will fill an artificially-created niche vacuum with innovation. Smooth Move, Joe. Well that didn't take very long.

Might as well be honest about the whole thing, and save some ink at the same time. I agree. I believe the name change was intended as a PR move to show that we aren't aggressive. Even our long-range missiles had to be frames as "things to keep other people away." It wasn't honest, as you note.
I am so stressed out. Every morning I get out of bed my stress level rises. I open the email, oh my, such stressful news. I read through the headlines, war in Ukraine; Joe Biden and his VP saying things, well actually babbling, they are not very coherent, causing more tension in the world. Gas, food, insurance, you name it, the price for goods and services has risen almost exponentially. Such stress. Men pretending to be women; 5 year old children being groomed in schools with sexual perversion. My favorite brands of food, have had there lifelong spokes characters removed from the packaging. A woman, I guess she is woman, I’m no biologist, being selected for the Supreme Court that has over 60,000 pages of her decisions sealed from public view. She is soft on pedophiles. The stress seems to be endless. That is a lot of stress for the average citizen to deal with. We should get rid of these things. I suppose getting rid of the SAT is a step in the right direction. Get rid of all tests. Shouldn’t they just give them diplomas, get rid of the stress of going to class? Sign here for your diploma, which degree do you want? That would be stress free.
Zelensky is doing whatever the US is telling him to do. If he was independent he would have cut a deal with Putin a long time ago. Instead, he listened to the Dems and neocons and is reaping the sock puppet reward. The US has done nothing honorable in the Ukraine since they helped overthrow the legitimate president in 2014. What a waste of lives and assets.
He's not listening to the US.
He's listening to Israel. Well, they do make more sense than anything coming out of D.C.
China is buying up our farmland.. Unreported by the MSM China is also buying properties close to our military bases, wonder why? China has an estimated 8000 spies in the U.S. not just "spies" but actual members of the CCP military disguised as civilians. That is a firing squad offense. Why do we do noting in response to these actions? This is becoming more serious as war looms. What is China's objective? Why do we facilitate it? It's time to restrict land and business ownership within the U.S. to U.S. citizens.
Many of the Western countries with strong military are eagerly giving Ukraine 1000's and tens of 1000's of missiles designed to hit armored vehicles and aircraft. Hmmm! How many of these critical missiles did we keep in stock for ourselves? What if this "war" that Putin is pursuing in Ukraine was designed to strip us of our stock of defensive missiles?
Based on the approval of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock I think Trump has the right to slap a lot of people who made negative comments about his hair. Oh wait! Trump doesn't have black privilege, my bad.
His hair? What about the crap they said about his wife?
I wonder, since it is Hollywood, was that a scripted slap? Garner interest for next year. Violence is always a okay, when lefties do it. Russian music. Now if we could rid Independence Day celebrations of "1812." That song they play with fireworks has nothing to do with us.
But it's got cannons in it! And it makes fun of the French! What's more American than that?
I wonder how many old-growth, forests primeval are in actuality overgrown medieval plantations designed to produce a mix of lumber for building and firewood.
I hadn't realised that Tchaikovsky was an instigator of the war. Glad we're punishing the bastard for it.
