Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"Most probably, all of the vehicles went down with the ship, and it's likely that a lot of them were heavily damaged by the fire..."
That's some real crackerjack reporting, right there. Yes, when the ship rolled over and sank, all of the cars jammed inside it 'probably' when down too - but we'll never know for certain. Nowhere was it mentioned that the fire is thought to have broken out in one of the lithium battery packs of the many electric vehicles on board - that odd little detail was reported at first, but now.... Pictures of the vessel taken while it was burning show a multi-deck area where the fire was especially hot, but nobody has publicly looked at the stowing plan to draw a correlation. https://gcaptain.com/felicity-ace-car-carrier-continues-to-burn-in-mid-atlantic/ Don’t you see the great potential for a Hollywood movie here? The greatest carjacking, action packed movie ever! Doesn’t that plot sound stupid enough to come out of Hollywood?
From several days ago:
EV fires become hot issue Maritime operators wrestling with solutions to EV fires as another car carrier burns QUOTE: THE fire aboard the car carrier Felicity Ace in the Atlantic last week has once more focussed all the stakeholders in the auto shipping industry on the issue of what to do about EVs that spontaneously combust while being transported at sea. The cars on the ship burned with such intensity that parts of the hull above the waterline melted. https://premium.goauto.com.au/ev-fires-become-hot-issue/ Agree. Eric Peters picked up on that on day 1.
This really looks like lithium just melted it's way out though the bottom. That so many are claiming that this Ukraine war may be the end of Russia just proves that the Russians were right to feel threatened by the manipulative behavior of the EU and NATO towards the Ukraine.
AND just proves that the Ukrainians and Europeans were right to feel threatened by the manipulative behavior of Putin and Russia towards the West. This has proved a warning to Eastern European countries and to NATO. They need to double down; expand NATO, spend more on defense. Every Eastern European nation needs to issue weapons to every man between 18-65 and train them to defend their country. All of Europe needs to build fallout shelters.
Be very afraid when a leader in a neighboring country feels that by your country desiring freedom warrants his army invading you. Europe needs to prepare for war, a dirty war. Whatever the arguments about the putative causes of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, they have become entirely moot - overtaken by events, as it were.
I'm sorry, Americans, this is not all about you and your endless Dem/Rep squabbling: put a sock in it if you possibly can. To put it in Lincoln's terms, "as our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves..." (I just have no real confidence that the present crop of leaders in the West is capable of doing that. It's almost as if Churchill never took the job of PM in 1940 and the Chamberlain government carried on, attempting to prosecute the war by relying on past policy failures.) Lame straw man.
At least try to make a decent fallacy. A. Putin's a horrible human being.
B. Putin may have thought things out a little better than the foppish, non-elite leftists in elite positions (e.g., Wesley Clark) throughout the West have given him credit for doing: https://twitter.com/Todd4NY24/status/1499443291066150920 I don't think Putin really has thought this one out any better at all.
Wesley Clark never got anything right about the Russians. He just about created a major war with Russian paratroopers in the Serbian war. A British general refused his orders and it is the only reason it didn't hit the fan.
"US Army Announces Mandatory Training on Pronouns and Gender Dysphoria - While Russia Invades Ukraine, Surrounds Kiev"
You could not make a headline like that up. The West is being ruled by a bunch of morons. Power hungry, greedy morons.
Oh, if only the morons were just in the democrat party. Ever hear of Lindsey Graham? He’s in the news today, so I’ll pick on him, but the list is quite long. If the republicans governed like they campaign, what a country it would be.
Maybe it is time to ask Ehyeh-Asher-Ehyeh to forgeive us and show mercy for not following His commandments.
I for one am praying as hard as I can that this evil in our world fails. I'm sure that China has been observing Russia's war fighting capability with great interest, seeing as how they are neighbors and all.
"Mr. Putin finds himself in a struggle now because of the bravery of 41 million Ukrainians, not the strength of Europe or the United States."
– The Wall Street Journal What do you think of this?
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10569141/Putin-NOT-crazy-Russian-invasion-NOT-failing-writes-military-analyst-BILL-ROGGIO.html There is no doubt that the Russians can and most likely will win. That is a foregone conclusion. The job for Ukrainians is to make the "win" so costly that Russians grow tired of winning. Ukraine Should fight the Russians and never give up, never give in. Their only alternative is to either run away to Poland or live under tyranny. The rest of Europe, especially Eastern Europe better recognize this as a wake up call. If Putin is successful he will continue to absorb European countries. This IS war. Call it an invasion or the act of a crazy leader or whatever but in Ukraine it IS war. Who will be next?
