We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Something interesting happened. almost a dozen Democrat states reversed themselves on masks and other mandates. While at the same time many of the experts have come out and reversed their position on masks. Why? And why all of them on the same day? I suspect that it is all about the midterm election. Funny how the science changes to meet the needs of politics. But it still looks suspiciously like they are scrambling for cover now that it becomes more clear that this entire mandate fest was about power and not health. We were screwed over for two years so that politicians could gain more power.

Because, absent a new variant, the pandemic is winding down. Most everyone has acquired immunity, either from vaccination or from infection.

Case rates are declining precipitously in the U.S., most everyone has acquired immunity, so easing social measures makes sense.

What's interesting is that so-called conservatives claimed that Democrats would never end the restrictions, but continue the emergency forever.

That's not what they said. They said that the communists/democrats would never end their mandates without a strong pushback by the people. We are seeing a strong pushback and the communist/democrats are backing off. A win for the common man but so much more must be done. Throw the communists out. Investigate their crimes and throw them in jail

Watching the chain of events in our country over the last 22 years I can't decide if we somehow adopted George Orwell's book 1984 or Ayn Rand's book Atlas Shrugged as the government's script. I read 1984 in High School and laughed at it, made fun of it. I read Atlas Shrugged perhaps 10 years ago and never laughed or made fun of it, in fact it kind of worried me. Now here we are living it. But, which one? Or maybe both!

About stealing...

I just returned from my local JCPenney minutes ago. I was on the hunt for an area rug (didnt find one). This is what I found...

....The two sets of doors (multiple glass, each set) were lock and customers were directed to the small "customer service" entrance. There was employee at the Customer Service Desk, though. It lead directly to the "home" section.

....In the "home" section, including beds, bedding, pots pans all manner of home stuff - a massive area - I saw all of 3 people (2 masked) none of whom seems to look up and around.

....Not a single employee.

....The cash register area that was there "before" is completely removed.

....Astounding amount of 60-70% offs.

I could have picked up any item and walked out and not a soul would have noticed. It was post apocalyptic.

Oh, yeah, the signs outside of the JCP store were huge advertisements for Sephora cosmetics, which, is rather ironic in this mask-obsessed culture.

Death rate from COVID in the U.S. is more than 2,000 per day. Perhaps you are not an American, but they are people too, and the death rate is very significant. On the other hand, the case rate is dropping rapidly, so the pandemic may be winding down. Most everyone has acquired immunity, either from vaccination or infection.

Vaccine immunity is short lived vs natural immunity. 2,000 deaths per day confirmed by PRC tests is a phony number and was used to create the plandemic as up to 97% of PCR results are useless.

We understand that you are uncomfortable when the facts to challenge your preconceptions, but deaths due to COVID are confirmed by multiple lines of evidence, including medical examiners, studies of death certificates, hospital reports, mortuary reports, and the statistics of excess deaths. As for PCR tests, they are verified by full-genome sequencing.

The Vaxx does not provide the level of protection or the length of time that natural immunity does. The PCR test is still a joke and I realize that bots programed to ignore the reality of Vaxx deaths are not going away soon. It will take time, just as russia, russia, russia took time before it fell apart.

About 1/3 of people infected with COVID do not develop antibodies. See Liu et al., Predictors of Nonseroconversion after SARS-CoV-2 Infection, Emerging Infectious Diseases 2021.

I really never believed the crazy conspiracy theories after the Patriot Act was passed. I liked "W" and our government then was still pro-America. Stupid conspiracists thinking our government would ever use the anti-terrorism laws against honest and law abiding Americans !! But that Obama, probably the worst president, made Jimmy Carter look reasonable. A scary 8 years a few bad laws and forays into socialism and anti-American rhetoric. Then Trump, couldn't believe it at first, but he became probably the best president we have ever had. Truely pro-American, truly honest and an open presidency with him giving White House lawn pressers everyday. I hated the rhino who abandoned him and the Dems turned communist who became insurrectionists. Just imagine what Trump could have accomplished if his own party had helped him.
Then the Democrats stole the election, massively and openly stole the election and installed a mindless puppet held hostage by far left fascists. And that's where we are today; and anti-American administration doing everything in secrecy and denying everything they are doing and apparently planning to take us to war while simultaneously destroying our military. And if that wasn't enough they have destroyed our economy put us into so much debt we can never get out of it and now plan to tax us all into poverty. They have weaponized the DOJ and FBI appointing little Eichmann's to run them and are using false flag attacks to destroy the Right. I could go on and on, so much more bad shit going down. Where will it end? I don't see our republic surviving these madmen.
