Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Bad News : Selling the story of disinformation

QUOTE: Wrong border, Kamala: Vice-President heads to Honduras as new caravan chaos develops Harris is not in charge of the enforcement at the southern U.S. border. "Harris is tasked with overseeing diplomatic efforts to deal with issues spurring migration in the Northern Triangle countries of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, as well as pressing them to strengthen enforcement on their own borders," administration officials said. "She’s also tasked with developing and implementing a long-term strategy that gets at the root causes of migration from those countries." Well, that puts an entirely different light on the situation. Looks like the migrant caravan organizers--whoever they are--have gotten inside VP Harris' OODA loop. "Not in charge" indeed.

Turns out that long-term solutions happen over the long term. That's the problem with the American polity. They can't think beyond the next quarter, so they careen from one avoidable disaster to the next, insulated by their great wealth and power from the dire consequences. That doesn't mean the immediate problem on the border shouldn't be addressed, just that it is not in Harris's purview. Trump handled the border situation.
Brandon blew it. Go away, KiddieZ. Once again you are wrong and won't go away.
1. This is a problem where we haven't seen the long term solutions being effected. 2. It doesn't need to be a long term problem as you claim (without evidence once again) as short term solutions are viable and work. Reliably dishonest and wrong, that's you. DrTorch: 1. This is a problem where we haven't seen the long term solutions being effected.
Long term solutions is to decrease the economic and political desparation in countries of the Northern Triangle. That will take many years. DrTorch: 2. It doesn't need to be a long term problem as you claim (without evidence once again) as short term solutions are viable and work. We agree that short-term measures are required to maintain stability on the U.S. southern border.

DrTorch: 1. That's YOUR long term solution.
Turns out that people living in dire circumstances leads to political instability. Any long-term solution must address the societal breakdown in countries with which the U.S. has long interfered. Regardless, Harris is not charged with issues surrounding border security.

And there we have it. Blame America. Although, the small sliver of truth lies in the statement. However, it should be laid at the feet of the democrats. They have yet to meet a totalitarian that they didn’t sing the praises of; especially if said totalitarian was in opposition to a sitting republican president.

B. Hammer: Blame America.
It's not a matter of blame, but the consequences of previous actions. The U.S. has interfered in the region for generations, including when the CIA deposed the democratically elected president of Guatemala in 1954; and used Honduras as a military base to pressure Nicaragua in the 1980s while funding anti-Sandinista terrorists.

Zachriel wrote "The U.S. has interfered in the region for generations" and implies that America must fix the problem by accepting millions of Central American "refugees". Yet, the USSR has also interfered in the region, as has Cuba; shouldn't those two countries also make amends by accepting millions of refugees from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras??
Zachriel is perfectly happy laying all blame on America, and completely absolving Russia and other communist states for the damage they've done.

We said exactly the opposite. The long-term solution is to work with people in the affected countries to help create better political, social, and economic conditions there. Better controls at the border can address the short-term problem.

QUOTE: How MMA Fighter-Turned-Action Star Gina Carano Punched Back at Hollywood's Cancel Culture Carano was excellent in The Mandalorian. She would have been excellent in her own Marshal of Nevarro series. QUOTE: The Afghanistan Withdrawal’s Smoking Gun Emerges . . . One U.S. official said it would take until the mid-2030s for the Afghans to be able to maintain the Black Hawk fleet on their own. So, the alternative was to stay until 2030, and even then, there would be no guarantees. Tell that to the American people. It was either get out under less than desirable circumstances, or make the occupation permanent. It would have been best to tell the truth, but it was thought there was still a chance for the Afghans to hold on. If so, then saying they were doomed would have been a self-fulfilling prophesy. But, the government and military were hopelessly corrupt. Many Afghans fought, many died bravely, but bravery and equipment alone does not make for a cohesive military force. Sure, let's blame the Afghans! Anybody but ourselves!
No amount of quibble-dicking is going to paper over the abject US strategic failure in Afghanistan. And again another lie.
Your false dichotomy of " It was either get out under less than desirable circumstances, or make the occupation permanent." is known to be wrong by everyone who paid attention. There were plenty of alternatives Your simpleton effort to create this false dichotomy shows you're a bad, and quite stupid, liar. JJM: No amount of quibble-dicking is going to paper over the abject US strategic failure in Afghanistan.
Well, duh. Of course it was a U.S. strategic failure. Dr Torch: There were plenty of alternatives The U.S. was in Afghanistan for twenty years, and the Afghan armed forces collapsed in weeks. Most of the Afghan military had already surrendered to the Taliban before they even engaged militarily. There never was a coherent Afghan government or military, which was largely just a cover for corruption. Notably, you forgot to detail any of the "plenty of alternatives." In the future, the KiddieZ should be referred to as Quibble-DickZ.

I didn't forget. I just wondered if you'd demonstrate your ignorance of the abundance of alternative approaches, even as you presume to comment on the subject. Many alternatives existed, from high level strategic and tactical approaches, even to small details that would have provided small improvements.
https://www.strategypage.com/on_point/2021091592748.aspx https://www.theepochtimes.com/afghanistan-the-mistake-was-not-going-in-it-was-how-we-left_3982648.html https://nypost.com/2021/09/07/state-dept-wont-ok-private-rescue-flights-from-afghanistan-report/ DrTorch: I didn't forget.
Nothing in those articles about strategy, just tactical differences that would have probably made little difference to the final outcome. As events showed, after twenty years, there was no viable Afghan armed forces or government, so there was no way for the Americans to withdraw without collapse. You're trying to move the goalposts again. But since it's all in print here, everyone can see that.
It's a clear indication that you were wrong, and as usual, I clearly and convincingly demonstrated that you were wrong. You're such a dishonest failure. DrTorch: You're trying to move the goalposts again.
The claim was, "It was either get out under less than desirable circumstances, or make the occupation permanent." You posted about the tactics of withdrawal, but no change in the tactics of withdrawal would have addressed the fundamental strategic problem. The Afghan government was hopelessly corrupt; and, after twenty years of efforts by the Americans and courageous Afghans, the Afghan army never constituted a coherent military force.

Arizona, Texas Have Recovered All Jobs Lost During Pandemic
Quite a contrast to this https://www.barrons.com/articles/us-jobless-claims-report-today-51642686384 Jobless Claims Rise for a Third Straight Week to 286,000, Highest Since Mid-October Trumps short term solutions to the illegal invasion worked fine and only needed the addition of E-verify. If an employer can't verify citizenship fine them $10,000 bucks and require them to return the individual to his or her original state. Require sponsors for each immigrant that are responsible for their financial welfare or return the immigrant to their original state. No welfare for those who are 1st generation immigrants. Long term solutions should be left to the immigrant's original state. I am not here to solve the world's problems...solve your own.
Re: The pandemic is over
Ahem, wonder why that is... Science: It pays well if you know the right people. QUOTE: Scientists Who Were Instrumental to COVID-19 ‘Natural Origins’ Narrative Received Over $50 Million in NIAID Funding in 2020-2021 https://yournews.com/2022/01/20/2284583/scientists-who-were-instrumental-to-covid-19-natural-origins-narrative-received/ We have had repeated declarations that the pandemic is over, but somehow we still have thousands of deaths continuing. I think people should cite evidence for the assertion rather than simply saying "The pandemic must be over because so many people want it to be over and it would fit my picture of reality better if it were over. So let's just pretend like it's over and act like it's over and it will be over." Omicron is less deadly, but because there are so many cases we still have as much death. We are all hopeful that it provides widespread immunity even among the unvaccinated, but we have not yet seen this prove out.
I have hoped for and even predicted the end of the pandemic too. But it cannot be declared until it happens. Our data should be upstream of our political opinions, not downstream. Cue the usual knee-jerk reactions and already-debunked assertions. We have repeated declarations that the PCR test is the gold standard for testing for Covid. It is not and even Fauci admits to it along with the inventor of the PCR test. Without any accuracy in testing for the virus there is no reliable way to determine how many cases we have had or how many people have died FROM covid. We even have SCOTUS judges that misrepresent covid cases. The PCR testing and the deceptive promises of the VAXX were intentional from the very beginning and there are a number of videos showing the incremental BSing from the start. https://dailyexpose.uk/2022/01/15/fauci-admits-pcr-test-cannot-detect-infection/
indyjonesouthere: Without any accuracy in testing for the virus there is no reliable way to determine how many cases we have had
PCR testing has very few false positives for the presence of viral particles, but a positive result may mean you are infected, or it may mean you are no longer infected, but were infected in the past. indyjonesouthere: or how many people have died FROM covid. Statistical analysis of excess deaths provides strong evidence that the COVID death count is close to the actual number of deaths due to COVID, nearing a million. Ah yes, the Quibble-DickZ again citing made-up numbers.
Even CDC head, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, exposed the "data" on deaths "from" Wuhan coronavirus vs. "with" the disease is mixed together and therefore, completely contaminated. But what does she know? The problem is the government's actions not the virus. The virus is doing what it does, culling the herd. It will do that without discrimination or conscience it is a virus.
The government on the other hand saw the virus as an opportunity to seize power and money from the people and that is what they did. They used the kabuki theater of masks, mandates and lockdowns to achieve their goals. They destroyed a couple million small businesses, created a lost generation of children, forced some people to die from lack or mis-treatment and now intend to ride this bitch into the ground in the hope it will allow them to steal one more election. What the government should have done was bolstered or health care system so that it could manage a pandemic AND normal health care at the same time. They should have protected and cared for the most vulnerable. They should have allowed the vast majority of the citizens to live their life normally thus not bankrupted millions of us and not making a few billionaires vastly richer. But they could not do that because they are dishonest, untrustworthy and would never let this crisis go to waste. Honestly IMHO the best thing that could happen to the U.S. today is for a couple hundred congressmen/women (Mostly Democrats but some Republicans too) to die; killed, suicide, the virus, accident, I don't care just die and allow at least the possibility that their replacement would be honest and put our citizens and country first. Sadly that won't happen so we will have to go through more of this terrible shitstorm which I think has just begun to rain down shit on us all. It is going to get much worse. Mark my word on this; one day soon we will all be agreeing that Biden's first year was his best year! Those excess deaths can be from any cause. Now what causes could the lockdowns cause? Suicides? More drug deaths? Deferred medical care? And your statement that there are few false positives is FALSE. There is no data to confirm few false positives but there is considerable data to confirm a large number of false positives. Read all of the piece I posted.
And that doesn't even count VAXX deaths and dismemberments.
indyjonesouthere: Those excess deaths can be from any cause.
But just happen to match the number of deaths reported by healthcare professionals as due to COVID. indyjonesouthere: Suicides? The suicide rate in the U.S. actually decreased in 2020, when about 46,000 died from suicide. Do you really think the suicide rate went up nearly 20-fold to explain the excess death rate? Instead of just throwing things out there, why don't you do a modicum of research first? Try to keep an open mind rather than mining for information that supports your preconceptions. indyjonesouthere: Read all of the piece I posted: "A PCR test cannot distinguish between 'live' viruses and inactive, non-infectious, viral particles." That's what we said. If you have a positive test, it almost certainly means you have been infected with COVID at some point. If you've been well, develop a cough, test positive for COVID, and then end up on ventilator, well, guess what. You probably have COVID. If you test positive after recovering, that may not mean you have an active infection, but may represent stray viral particles from when you were sick. Another clue is that a rise in positive tests is soon followed by a rise in hospitalizations and death. It's not a random correlation. indyjonesouthere: And that doesn't even count VAXX deaths Deaths from vaccination are very rare, certainly in comparison to the death rate from an actual infection. Except those causes are not up, except for drug OD's which are only 3% of the total of excess deaths. I get irritated because this is very easy to look up and check your work, but you are one of the people here who can't be bothered, simply repeating what you have heard God-knows-where. We have a million excess deaths over the last two years and there is no credible other cause than covid. Try all of them on one-by-one and look them up. Do the work. Try to make the case. Try to prove it wrong with something more than hand-waving and "but they are all lying."
No test is perfect, but are you actually saying that a lot of those other deaths are from colds? Other viruses? That the yearly flu has been 20 times worse than average two years in a row? That IS what you are saying, you just aren't looking at the meaning of your own statements. Because I don't believe you really think those things. Then what else is there that they are dying of? Not "other viruses," but which ones, and what is the evidence, from where? Suicides are down, not up. Are tens of thousands, maybe millions of people working in health care, lying about every other cause of death that they are personally involved with keeping track of and perhaps have devoted their life to treating, just to make covid look worse? Are you serious? No, I'm sure you believe that everyone else is being fooled, except you and a few guys you read, because you are the smart ones who know, who see through all the bullshit and believe none yourselves. It's all dark background music like the movies, but when you ask people to pony up, they can't. Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said that 75% of vaccinated adults who died of COVID-19, as recorded in a newly released study, had at least four or more comorbidities.
Later she went on to say that the "data" on deaths "from" Wuhan coronavirus vs. "with" the disease is mixed together and therefore, completely contaminated. Pretty sure she's just hand waving to aggravate people llke AVI because he "knows" people. Ya know "smart people" who "pony up" like the KiddieZ. Please keep demeaning the other commentors here that you disagree with because you're really, really smart and you know it.... It does not mean you were infected with covid, it means you may have been around covid. And some covid tests also pick up other viruses and show positive. And we are back to the number of cycles to determine a positive. All the PCR tests are run at a cycle rate of 40 plus. Except of course for those that are vaccinated. They are run at a lower cycle threshold. I wonder why?
Deaths from vaccination are very rare. Incorrect again. And the sad part is that the medical establishment in the admin state is not requiring autopsies of those who die after vaccinations, especially the first 2 weeks. The admin state treats them as unvaxxed. And why is the FDA trying to hide the data they have on the Vaxx. They hold it for the same reason they always withhold data. It does not serve their purposes. https://www.coreysdigs.com/health-science/pfizer-fda-corruption-lethal-batches-and-autopsies-reveal-covid-19-jab-genocide/ indyjonesouthere: it means you may have been around covid.
Just being around COVID is very unlikely to give you a positive PCR test. Perhaps if someone with COVID coughed in your face and you inhaled, then did a test, you might test positive, but you probably got COVID from inhaling the spittle. Again, when test results rise, hospitalizations and deaths rise as well. It's not a random correlation. indyjonesouthere: And some covid tests also pick up other viruses and show positive. The PCR test does not return positive for any other virus. indyjonesouthere: Deaths from vaccination are very rare. Incorrect again. CDC: "COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective." https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/safety/safety-of-vaccines.html indyjonesouthere: And why is the FDA trying to hide the data they have on the Vaxx. What data is being hid? What data is being hid?
