Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

re: Toyotas
The next time I buy a truck I hope it will last me until I'm too old to drive, so maybe 30 years. I'll likely only consider Toyota and Ford. There's a good chance the Toyota will have been built in the U.S. and also the Ford in Mexico or Canada. It's not as black or white as the article makes it out. Toyota makes good trucks. I don't really care what country they were designed in or where their CEO lives. Almost a quarter-million miles on our Toyota truck and it still runs like a dang top. It's our first one, although I used to drive them overseas years ago. Their toughness and durability from these experiences is what drove us to buy this one. What you forgo is optionality. You're either stuck with a stripper with not enough options, or stuck with packages that have things you'll never use enough to justify their expense.
Some time back I read the car most MADE in the USA was a Toyota Camry. The Ford F150 was less so, maybe most made in North America.
Mike Pompeo looks just great. Good for him.
I don't have any idea, really, why some teachers are good at getting things across to me and others aren't. One thing that's clear is that knowledge won't stick in my head unless I can turn it around various ways and see how it fits with other things I know. A lecture followed by more informal discussion is a good way to get that process going. The pure Socratic method can be simply abusive and time-wasting, as the pure lecture-and-regurgitate method can be stultifying. Totally agree that some practical demonstration does more to help learning than multi lectures. Very much back in the day, well remember that our teacher illustrated the "hot air rises, cold air descends" by opening top and bottom of the old sash window in our classroom. As we shivered, we took serious note that the cold air was coming in the bottom while the warm air was departing out the top. No sash windows in classrooms these days, so no chance for a good demo.
The second fun demo was in high school when various things (ball, balloons, etc.) were dropped out of the third floor physics lab in an attempt to check the rules of gravity. Rather think nothing was proved, but it was a fun experiment. RE: "Disrobing the Aboriginal Stalinists on a Canadian Campus"
The professor/author is exactly right and the college proved it by firing her. Her statement in her book "How Parallelist Ideology Conceals Indigenous Dependency, centered on the intentional segregation and ghettoization of Indians in the name of “justice” that was anything but just.". And "The Deception Behind Indigenous Cultural Preservation, took a critical look at the well-organized industry of indigenous activists and their lawyers whose efforts do such monumental harm to young Indians who might otherwise enjoy successful lives as part of Canadian society." Is exactly right. The Indians are being used and abused by the very same people claiming to want to help them. End the reservation system, the Indians are citizens not wards of the state. Give them title to their land and stop treating them like third class citizens. Allow them to enjoy the freedoms and opportunities of a free country. 'Restoring forests can be difficult' Sometimes being able to just read about restoring forests can be difficult.
Anon: Japan dumps vaccine charade in favor of Ivermectin.
You really should be more skeptical of your sources. Ivermectin is not approved for the treatment of COVID in Japan, and their vaccination campaign continues. About 73% of Japan has been vaccinated. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2021/11/05/fact-check-japan-has-not-halted-vaccines-ivermectin/6232580001/ Because of TDS (Trump derangement syndrome)
Never forget that your government is punishing doctors and pharmacists that make Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine available to dying covid patients. They are literally killing citizens rather than allow Trump to have been right. Do not allow your government to take over health care. Another example is some states are restricting life saving drugs to POC and whites need not apply. Think about that... did you ever expect the party of the KKK to come back and be the anti-white KKK. Also think about how quickly we fell into this "vax apartheid" and racist medical treatment. Der Fuhrer installed in the White House is making America like Germany in the 1930's. Better wake up! Because it has no effect on Covid. It has shown positive results in the countries that have high parasitism, which it does treat, and those will weaken you in the face of getting covid or any other disease. That's a good thing, but it's not a covid treatment.
Let me ask the opposite question. Why do you like every half-assed idea that irritates the great majority of medical professionals on the subject of covid? BTW, I already know the answer to that, but suspect you won't stumble upon it. It's refreshing that AVI is so open-minded and non-judgmental.
All knowing too. .

snopercod: Why do you hate Ivermectin?
We don't. However, the available evidence does not support the use of ivermectin for treatment of COVID. BUT! Should it deny the right of the patient and the doctor to try Ivermectin???

Doctors can prescribe off-label, but professional organizations can require professional behavior. Doctors have to be able to show a benefit beyond what their patient "read on the Internet."

We have about 5000 non-prescription "drugs" that are available without any oversight or medical proof or "show a benefit beyond what their patient "read on the Internet." These over the counter "drugs" are advertised on late night TV with some pretty wild claims of medical effectiveness and yet virtually all of them do nothing more than decrease the spendable income of the sucker who buys them. It is worth noting that the congress actually took on this multi-billion dollar scam industry and it was Harry Reid who stopped any legislation to control the exploitation of the dumb and reckless people who believe in this crap.
So why no concern about THOSE "drugs" but fear and loathing about Ivermectin? And WHY should the pharmacist (of all people) inject themselves (pun intended) into the relationship between a doctor and a patient??? You can respond to that question in any way you want to from your typical obfuscation to your second choice of burying the lede but just know that we all know that it comes down to TDS.

You might want to be specific. Noting your use of scare quotes, some substances are not regulated by the FDA.

Wrong again, KiddieZ.
QUOTE: In September, Japan deployed Ivermectin and legalising the use of the anti-parasitic drug has helped people recover from COVID-19 with more durable and long-lasting immunity. Caseloads have come down rapidly without the need for booster vaccination doses. In Tokyo, there were around 6,000 cases in the middle of August, but the number has now dropped down to below one hundred. https://tfiglobalnews.com/2021/11/08/japan-crushes-big-pharma-with-a-small-yet-effective-move/ Insurrection day: November 7, 1983. Ghislaine Maxwell sex trafficking conviction in jeopardy over juror's behavior, say experts
QUOTE: Legal experts say the conviction of Ghislaine Maxwell on sex trafficking charges could be tossed following revelations that a juror admitted to multiple media outlets that he used his personal experience as a victim of sexual abuse to sway fellow jurors. "It's a prosecutor's worst nightmare," Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor, told the Washington Examiner on Thursday. Rahmani, the president of Los Angeles-based West Coast Trial Lawyers, said a mistrial is likely because David's comments bring up several big problems: perjury and prejudice, lying under oath, and having a preconceived opinion that swayed the jury. "It's so incredibly rare that you have a juror who sets forth the prejudice argument," he said. "As a prosecutor, you absolutely hate it when the jurors talk to the media after a guilty verdict because they can always say something improper that can cause problems. But this juror, not only did he say something improper, he established prejudice." https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/ghislaine-maxwell-sex-trafficking-conviction-in-jeopardy-over-jurors-behavior-say-experts? All evidence points to Ms Maxwell as a sex trafficker, but she could not have operated successfully without a steady stream of men willing and eager to avail themselves of her services - and particularly when they didn't have to pay up front. Her conviction is not sufficient to give her victims justice; only the exposure of the men who happily used and abused these young women will do that.
The principle objective of the prosecution was to ensure the records identifying those people were placed under seal in perpetuity at the conclusion of the trial, which prosecution was limited in scope to include only witnesses that had no information to offer as evidence on that list - carefully chosen to have just enough testimony to reliably secure a conviction against Maxwell. The judge will be enjoying her new promotion to the higher circuit after she finishes the cleanup with sentencing Maxwell.
Regarding Biden and Ukraine. The author didn’t even mention the Biden family's lucrative business dealings in Ukraine. War there would surely interrupt the millions of dollars in ‘consulting’ fees that are now being harvested like so many ballots in a Georgia election. Guarantee that will weigh heavily in any decision Joe makes.
China's $1 trillion 'artificial sun' fusion reactor just got five times hotter than the sun
If the claims can be believed . .. . https://www.livescience.com/chinas-1-trillion-artificial-sun-fusion-reactor-just-got-five-times-hotter-than-the-sun feeblemind: China's $1 trillion 'artificial sun' fusion reactor just got five times hotter than the sun
The temperature is probably correct. Such complex undertakings with so many scientists involved are hard to fake. The dollar figure is almost certainly incorrect. Perhaps a trillion yuan (¥). On the other hand, it does show the advantages of a forward-looking industrial policy. China may own the future, fair and square. Vaccinated China: I dunno, because their vaccines suck? Because Delta really is worse than the original? Those actually have some evidence behind them. Unlike the wishful thinking that maybe "it's because vaccines don't work and we can kick everyone in the balls for fun."
About 20,000 Americans have died from the vaccine. But that isn't enough. Even though the evidence show that the boosters are even worse and cause more deaths they are now contemplating requiring a second booster to be considered "vaccinated". Otherwise no job, no health care, no public transportation.
I sincerely hope that the Supreme Court doesn't fumble this issue badly as they did the states request that the election be audited. JustMe: About 20,000 Americans have died from the vaccine.
Please provide a credible citation. "Please provide a credible citation."
Certainly! But just like the vaccine makers it will take me 75 years to get that for you. In the mean time you could research it yourself. But be aware that for some reason our government is hiding this from us. Kinda weird huh! I mean, why would they hide this from us? And why would Twitter ban doctors from using twitter when they expose this subterfuge? It's almost as though our government has become tyrannical and our social media giants are colluding with them.
