Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"Warming of the Arctic has caused an increase in extreme winter weather in some parts of the U.S., according to a study published by Science"
Really? A "study"? How about a computer simulation, which is different from a study. And for the record, we're at the start of winter and the Arctic sea ice cover is 2nd highest in the past 18 years! That's not warming of the Arctic. DrTorch: And for the record, we're at the start of winter and the Arctic sea ice cover is 2nd highest in the past 18 years!
Average Monthly Arctic Sea Ice Extent, September 1979-2021 This isn't Sept.
My claim is correct, and you've been nothing but wrong on this subject b/c you know nothing about science AND you are a liar. DrTorch: This isn't Sept.
September is usually chosen because it represents the normal height of the melt season for the Arctic. Here is the Arctic Sea Ice Extent for the entire year. DrTorch: My claim is correct Your claim is correct, but is misleading in context. As anyone can see from either graph, the trend is for less ice over decades—despite the ups and downs of individual years. So far, 2021 is still very much below the 1981-2010 mean. My claim is not misleading in the least. Unlike you I was very precise in my language, especially b/c it relates to the claim in the article in Science.
You have no idea of what you are talking about in general, but you really do nothing but lie when you post about this subject. And when you lie about me, I will call you on it. DrTorch: Unlike you I was very precise in my language,
2021 is well below the 1981-2010 mean. DrTorch: especially b/c it relates to the claim in the article in Science. The Arctic is warming, as can be seen in either graph provided above.

Misleading, you say? The entire cult of global warming is misleading. How many times have they told us that we should be wading chest deep in water on Manhattan island by now? Not to mention the prediction of no more snow, all the worlds glaciers gone, and no sea ice! Yet here we are. How many times have they told us that we are doomed in ten, twenty years, in the past fifty? More times than I can count on one hand. It’s all very misleading.
Meanwhile, the evidence against the cult of global warming, keeps piling up.

Yes, it was. B. Hammer: How many times have they told us that we should be wading chest deep in water on Manhattan island by now? You seem to be conflating media reports with the science. Your citation does not address the current warming trend.

The East Anglia clown posse could shovel more BS than Brandon could hope to shovel. Their leaked emails confirmed the scam. The warmist just have a better email system now and little else but computer models that don't even hold up to theory.

Ignoring the data doesn't make it go away. The chart shows that the projected warming trend is confirmed by observations. Lucky guess?

Never say die: Trump-Russia collusion theorists strike again: They'll NEVER EVER EVER give up on that. IDJITS!! Crazed IDJITS! Can't anyone in this party do math? No, not now, not tomorrow, not next week, not next year, not next Ice Age... State Department ‘Actively Impeding’ Rescue Efforts as Afghanistan Fades from Spotlight, Vets Say: I am not surprised; it's what Democrats do... I really want to hear what Erik Prince, a guy who became a billionaire by successfully selling the US military on the idea of privatizing a big chunk of the military to Erik Prince, has to say about what the military needs to be doing. I'm going to take a shot in the dark here and guess his advice involves shoveling several cubic buttloads of cash in Erik Prince's direction.
I suspect you are spot on, but we are getting so little result for so much money at this point I'm willing to listen if he can do it better.
I am also very encouraged and hopeful about Omicron from what we know. But I'm not counting any chickens until we stop having thousands of deaths a week.
It may happen. It may even happen relatively soon. But we have seen too many false dawns with covid, which has added to people being frantic. We have had two successive Aprils of people thinking we were just about done. It is not usually tied in (for obvious this shall not be spoken aloud reasons in the media), but I think the riots of the summer of 2020 had more to do with people angry at being cooped up than from George Floyd. Liberals tried to claim they were fine with the restrictions and had other motivations, but I am unconvinced. Deeds, not words. We needn't be any slower to leap to hopeful conclusions than we are to leap to discouraging ones. Maybe we can just work on not getting too far out over our skis in general.
QUOTE: Never say die: Trump-Russia collusion theorists strike again The Russians interfered in the presidential election; there were extensive contacts between the Trump campaign and Russian agents; the Trump campaign welcomed Russian interference; and the Trump campaign blocked the Mueller investigation. QUOTE: Trump was not referring to Clinton campaign documents. When he mentioned "30,000 emails that are missing," he was clearly referring to emails from a personal account that Clinton Yes, and hacking the Clinton account would be a felony. What you are saying is untrue.
Yet you keep posting it. You are a liar. DrTorch: What you are saying is untrue.
Each of the five claims are demonstrably true. Are you saying it would not be a felony to hack into Clinton's email? No, all of those claims are not demonstrably true.
Moreover, you continually post out of context, which is just more of your dishonesty b/c you tried to call me on that above. You of course simply project when it comes to me, b/c I have repeatedly exposed your lies as you've followed me to different sites around the web. DrTorch: No, all of those claims are not demonstrably true.
You didn't answer: Are you saying it would not be a felony to hack into Clinton's email? See 18 U.S. Code § 1030.

Everything we need to know could be found on Anthony Weiners laptop or from Assange at Wikileaks who has Seths thumbdrive. Rather funny that the FBI can't find anything on Weiners laptop or Crackheads laptop. They must not have time what with all the need to plan the Whitmer kidnapping and line up the fake seditionists for PR purposes.

What do you do when the FBI fails to investigate. They never even investigated the computer that Hillary swore was hacked. They took the word of an inside "investigation". The FBI hasn't been reliable since they did a fix on the Whitey Bulger case...and got the hell sued out of them.

indyjonesouthere: What do you do when the FBI fails to investigate. . . Anthony Weiners laptop or . . . WikiLeaks
Weiner's laptop was investigated by the FBI. WikiLeaks publicly provided documents stolen by Russian intelligence to interfere in the U.S. presidential campaign, so they are available to you or anyone else who wants to investigate. indyjonesouthere: They never even investigated the computer that Hillary swore was hacked. The FBI was provided mirrors of the DNC servers. It isn't necessary to have the physical servers (which were in use at the time). Regardless, the question was whether it was appropriate for Trump to suggest that the Russians should hack Clinton's email account.

The Snowy Winter that Devastated Colonial New England
For eleven days in February and March 1717, New England was hit with four major snowstorms. The devastation struck some as a sign from God. https://daily.jstor.org/the-snowy-winter-that-devastated-colonial-new-england/ UK Inches Closer To Eliminating Private Car Ownership
QUOTE: UK Government Transport Minister Trudy Harrison recently spoke at a mobility conference, addressing the future of personal mobility. In her comments, she said it was necessary to ditch the "20th-century thinking centred around private vehicle ownership and towards greater flexibility, with personal choice and low carbon shared transport." That’s right, she said the quiet part loud and showed the hand of a growing number of government officials. https://www.motorious.com/articles/features-3/uk-eliminating-car-ownership/ House of Representatives Votes to Eradicate Blasphemy Against Islam

Mom said, "Quit moping around the house. Go outside and play and get some fresh air." And now we get some gang of eggheads to confirm her common-sense advice. Ain't science wonderful? West Coast Sees Record Snow Like there have never been blizzard years in the Sierras in recent human life times. Except the year my parents got married and dodged the CHP to drive to Reno, or my recent ski vacation at Squaw Valley that was literally "snowed out," forcing me to recreate my parents' nuptial trek. I don't think this is what Fukuyama meant when he declared "the end of history." Not reading it doesn't make it go away. State Department ‘Actively Impeding’ Rescue Efforts Proggies always alibi for the Bad Guys, and stiff the folks they claim to champion. Always. I don't doubt Eric Princes statements or his knowledge. But the problem is his advice will make us stronger to fight a small war somewhere. Here is what I think could happen and could be a game changer:
A conflict breaks out, could be anywhere and anybody, for the sake of the argument I put it in the South China Sea with China being the antagonist. A miscalculation or by intent one of our ships/plans is attacked with deadly consequences. Probably the initial target(s) would be part of a carrier fleet. Our fleet responds as does China and both sides receive devastating casualties which means our carrier and accompanying cruisers are sunk killing most of the crew most Chinese ships are sunk as well and most planes are shot down including a heavy toll on Chinese aircraft. This scenario is not guess work this is exactly what would happen in an inland sea against a major military state that outnumbered us in planes and ships. This would be a high tech war with both sides using very powerful and capable missiles to destory each others forces. But this would be just the beginning, we have two more carrier fleets and numerous support ships and a handful of fully manned land based bomber and fighter squadrons. who would be deployed immediately to assist the first carrier fleet. Again the battle would take place in the small theater of the South China Sea where China would have home advantage and likely the second battle would destroy or incapacitate most of our ships and planes, all of this taking place in less than 24 hours. There would be panic resupplying of the forces in the area and most likely there would be additional battles which would further reduce the total number of anti-ship and anti-aircraft/missile missiles on both sides. Now the problem is that our ships are almost defenseless against high tech tactics. At this point it is a simple matter of who has the most high tech missiles left and I'm betting China has them and would use them. They could use ship killer missiles against our ships that are in the South China sea, or 1000 or more miles away because the dogs of war were already released. So every military asset within 1000-2500 miles of the South China Sea could be destroyed by super sonic high tech missiles that cannot be defended against. At this point all of our remaining high tech missiles are protecting other ships and aircraft elsewhere in the world and cannot be used to resupply the Asian forces that have survived. We don't have a "stockjpile" of these essential missiles. And WE are now "almost" out of the high tech war game and we have only conventional or nuclear options left. What now??? Neither South Korea or Japan would be left out of that conflict. And likely Australia and perhaps the Phillipines would be involved.
We will all see China take Tiawan and a few assorted Japanese and Philippine islands. But if you are under age 60 you will get to see China invade Australia and New Zealand in your lifetime. THOSE are the prizes in the South Pacific and that is where China intends to expand to.
