We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
As I understand it, projection (attribution of one's own evil or malevolence to others) is a so-called primitive defense mechanism. People hate to own their own evil because it feels bad. In politics, though, it seems to be a calculated offensive maneuver.
Precisely, and I have been preaching this for decades, having lived among them for my career. They understand many things better than conservatives - just not themselves, and it matters hugely in the end. It destroys all.
It is related to the joke "If you can hear the dog whistle, you're the dog," and their many theories about what Other People are like, somehow including themselves only at the mildest of levels. What does your theory say about you yourself, and your relationship to you own mother and daughter, Sigmund? Have you run that flag up the pole?
We all think we are exempt from these terrible motives of our opponents (conservatives also do this), but once the idea is in place it is fair to ask "On what basis have you escaped? What are the steps you have taken to immunise yourself from this evil?"
Christians in particular should note that Jesus asks this at many points, and Paul also. We are not exempt unless the Holy Spirit has protected us, at our specific request. And I know most of you haven't asked, because I have lived among you as well.

This is a technique that all communist regimes practice and our left have become communists. Just as China declared that the U.S. released the covid after the U.S. and the rest of the world accused them. It is a chaos technique that prevents any honest discussion.
I would suggest that projection is just a matter of knowing what you would do in a given situation and assuming your opponent would do the same. Which is why you should be very concerned about the Democrats accusing Trump of wanting to start a war with China so that he could declare an emergency and cancel the election. What have the Democrats got planned?
Not disputing your point at all — in fact I am reinforcing how crazy the Democrats are — but the idea that a war is a good reason to cancel an election is ridiculous, an affront to everyone who served in WWII, most especially those who gave their lives.
Fighting a war on two fronts against the likes of Japan and Germany, rationing everything under the Sun, devoting everything and everyone to that effort for almost 4 years ... a historically literate population would instinctively know they are being played, but alas we do not have one.
I heard a good quote yesterday on Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History podcast — by Hitler to the pre-war leadership of Britain in the 30s — about how either Germany defeats Britain, or Britain becomes more like Nazi Germany to defeat them, and he wins either way. Remind anyone of anything happening today?
Take for example, the worn-out charge of “privilege,” as in the phrase “check your privilege.” This trope originates exclusively from the Left. Purportedly, it signifies a rigged system in which white males have gained, unfairly and undeservedly, “privilege” to exercise cultural, economic, political, and social control over the “other”—occasionally defined as women, more often “people of color,” and most frequently African Americans.
I recall an online discussion from Haidt's website from some years ago about a speaker at the elite Lakeside private school in Seattle. That's where Bill Gates went to high school. By most definitions, Lakeside students are "privileged."
A black student at Lakeside was decrying the "privilege" of others- not hers. Going to an elite private high school gave that black student more educational privilege than an estimated 95-99% of the population. I wonder if she has ever acknowledged that.
Disclaimer: a high school classmate of mine went to Lakeside for junior high. His father taught there, which likely got him some nice tuition discounts.
he says in the aftermath of the "I'm rubber, you're glue" presidency of Donald Trump. "I'm not the birther, you're the birther!"
The Colluders Invent Collusion . . . the Democratic establishment simply concocted the charge that Donald Trump’s presidential campaign was colluding with the Russians
Trump's campaign manager provided internal campaign data to a Russian agent, knowing that Russia was interfering in the election. Contacts between Trump campaign officials and Russian agents were found to be "grave counterintelligence threats" by the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee, which also found that the Trump campaign welcomed Russian interference.
“….. because “the woke” have no sense of humor and, therefore, take everything literally and then judge it against their own very-questionable (double-)standards. Let’s face it; you have to be a humorless, dumb-as-dogshit, non-contextual, hypocritical fucktard to be “woke”, otherwise it don’t work.
