We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
It's not necessary to infantilize teachers. In many cases, they are already infantilized. They are people who have spent their entire lives in a classroom, and often don't have a clue how the real workaday world works. I used to process and verify applications for graduation for teachers who were getting their master's degree, and you would not believe the level of immaturity and impatience I had to deal with in so many of them. That wasn't limited to just the women either. Of all the colleges I dealt with in the university, the college of education produced the biggest number of crybabies I have ever seen.
