Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

One of the things (strangely not mentioned) we learned from Otzi is that global warming is cyclical. There were no SUVs 5000 years ago and few people but yet we had a global warming period. But of course we know they are cyclical but you cannot talk about that or some fool like Zach will cite all kinds of fake data to try to misinform you.
OneGuy: global warming is cyclical.
There are cycles in the climate system, such as Milankovitch cycles. If we eliminate changes in solar forcing, the world would be in a slight cooling phase. Instead, the current warming in not due to climate cycles, and exceeds the rate and degree of warming ever experienced in human history. The warming trend is expected to continue for several more decades, even if humans reduce their emissions. https://www.climate.gov/sites/default/files/styles/full_width_620_original_image/public/marcott2-13_11k-graph-610.gif See Marcott et al., A Reconstruction of Regional and Global Temperature for the Past 11,300 Years, Science 2013.

Science is one of the most cited journals in the scientific community. The paper uses independent evidence to confirm the overall trend than used in other studies. The paper could be wrong, of course. Do you have a specific criticism of the study? Perhaps you can point to a published study for discussion that contradicts its findings.

What I’m curious about is the speculation of murder or dying in battle. Why, if either scenario is true, would all his belongings be left behind? Especially the prized cooper hatchet. I’ve read thousands of pages of early American history, and the dead from murder or battle are usually picked clean of their valuables. Someone pulled the shaft out of his back, why not take the hatchet? It’s an interesting find.
re: Long Covid
I don't doubt that study. I had symptoms on June 28 and tested positive the same day. I felt terrible for about two weeks, bad enough that part of me was hoping I would just die to get it over with. Went back to work on July 9th and it took another four weeks or so to get back to feeling healthy again. That's similar to my experiences with influenza. I don't think I had symptoms for 6-8 weeks. I just think it took my body and mind that long to fully recover. It's now been 5 months and I'd say my sense of smell is at about 70% of what it was before. I'm beginning to accept that this might be as good as my sense of smell will ever get. The funny thing is I can't smell body odor or bathroom smells at all. That sounds like a good thing until you consider that neither I nor my wife can tell when our baby's diaper is dirty, can't tell if I need a shower, and can't tell if food is spoiled. There are good reasons why some things smell repugnant. QUOTE: Long Covid doesn't exist, volume one zillion. There are a number of confounding factors with the study, many of which are discussed in the paper. The primary issue is the test for antibodies. People who may have Long COVID probably do not mount a strong antibody response to the infection, so may test negative for antibodies, even though they have had the infection. There are a number of confounding factors with everything you post.
jack, you tried to sell us on a study with an n=1 (you). You aren't in a good position to criticise here. That's not how science works.
Alex Berenson has claimed that the increase in deaths of 25-44 y/o's come from the vaccine. The data trounces him as dead wrong. He hasn't budged an inch. He made a million bucks last year peddling this nonsense, so you can see why he won't quit. It's much more fun to say that Big Pharma or whoever is making money off this, because that's what people want to hear. He is a crank. Pay no attention. Apparently, the school is in Scotland. I wonder was the reaction would be if they asked boys to wear kilts to support/maintain their Scottish heritage? These kinds of things are tests; sheep tests. Will you obey? Are you ready yet for the next step into servitude?
My suggestion is to ignore it, that is fail the test and when confronted laugh in their face and use plain language to tell them to go F themselves. THEN it becomes a test for them. Will they go full fascist right there in front of god and everybody? Will they pull the curtains aside and expose their agenda? Or will the slink away? Be ready of course for the fascist side to come out. Have a camera going, get their words and actions on film. Our country is changing. Activists groups, the very rich, openly Marxist/communist groups, left wing politicians?democrats and of course hoards of useful idiots are all trying to change this country and take our freedoms and our wealth. The biggest part of the grift is the climate change scam. I think it will work and break us throwing us and the world into a economic chasm. There is a sense of a "quickening" a Fourth turning, a crash. You can see all the signs but I admit if you aren't looking for the signs and if you listen to the lies from our leaders and the MSM it isn't apparent yet to everyone. But after the crash you will be able to look back and see what should have been obvious. But right now you are being conditioned to accept and even be a cheerleader for what is coming. |
