We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
Some how I get the feeling Antifa and BLM will riot no matter what. They will claim they were slighted in some manner. I hope they can get the kid off by some miracle so there is less destruction. They have the nephew/friend of Saint George Floyd on video threatening the jury. But of course nothing will be done to him. When cities, governments and police allow the destruction and violence to continue as has been in the past two years those groups won't quit. The two that were killed nd the one damaged you can see these are not stellar citizens.
I suspect you are correct. Just as the George Floyd riots would have been set off by whatever was next, this could be as well. The elite media focus keeps returning to whether he showed good judgement coming down where violence could be expected or whether he was handling the situation in the way they like best. But the question is whether he did anything illegal. I haven't seen anything yet.
Here is the contradiction that will not be brought out but is important: if what Kyle Rittenhouse did in advance of coming downtown matters, then that must logically apply to what George Floyd did before and during being taken into custody. Take whichever you please morally, but you can't have it both ways.
Except of course protestors will have it both ways, and will get away with it.

If you haven't been watching Rekieta's stream then you've been missing out.
Commentary from the lawyers on the panel are good and fill in the gaps during slow parts of the trial.
Agree with the endorsement of the Rekieta stream. And if you just want a real-time text summary (live stream also available), Andrew Branca at Legal Insurrection is doing a great job: Rittenhouse Trial Live Comment
He also posts a daily round up of the day's events (links at same site).
I tried watching the live stream a few times but ADA Binger's behavior was too unbearable to put up with live.
I watch a lot of trials. Most are tedious with very occasional bursts of useful information. This one is unusually dense with surprising and useful information about what happened one night, partly because there was a crowd, quite a few witnesses willing and able to describe what they saw, and an amazing amount of video. Add to that some remarkable displays of prosecutorial malfeasance and dressings down from the judge. I haven't been able to tear myself away all week. Apparently there will be 5 hours of closing argument on Monday. Today there will be some arguments about jury instructions, starting at 10am Central.
A lot of intentional misinformation surrounds Kyle. It is really quite straightforward though once you cut through the BS. He was the kind of kid that wanted to help people and went to Kenosha to try to protect people from the violent rioters. And he did that, we focus on that single event where he was attacked but in the preceding hours and days he was busy trying to help the citizens of Kenosha. The attack on Kyle was planned, he had earlier put out a dumpster fire that one of his attackers had set and when that man tried to stop Kyle he was pushed away and slunk off into the darkness. But he then planned to ambush Kyle and that is exactly what he did. What happened next is a very straightforward case of self defense. Probably the most videoed assault and self defense in the history of man so there is no doubt about what happened. So why are all the haters coming out spewing hate at Kyle??? He wasn't the bad guy and in fact was arguably the good guy in a white hat. His attackers were the epitome of the bad guys, with previous records of violent and terrible crimes. So why all the hate for Kyle???
There was a 17-year-old young man running around yelling "friendly, friendly," dispensing a little first aid and putting out fires. There were as many as six adults who either threatened him with words or weapons or actually initiated deadly physical attacks on him, yelling "get him, kill him, cranium him," or "If I get you alone I'll kill you," or "F*** you," and the like. Some of the latter were lighting fires, several had serious criminal records, and one said he'd been protesting for 75 days straight. I know which one I'd like to have move in next-door.
