We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I really miss those songs with the implausible but wonderful key changes. You can do the four chord trick and cycle through a decade of pop songs..
It's kind of like kids playing the bouncy chords of Body and Soul over and over, endlessly...but the chord progressions found in Steely Dan's songs will only give you another Steely Dan song.
Mozart's chord change turnaround at the end of 'Ave Verum Corpus' still vexes theologians.
May it be understood more easily if one posits than Mann and Weil were writing on piano?
Back in my teens -- fity-to-sixty years ago -- a keyboard player observed that piano and guitar come from different head spaces, musically. Work out the chords on a keyboard and see if they don't make more sense.
