Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

The Nebraska AG Has Gone Where No Man Has Gone Before
QUOTE: …by actually looking at data. Imagine that. And on October 14, he issued a lengthy advisory letter indicating that the use of Hydroxychloroquine or Ivermectin in the early treatment of COVID-19 was just fine, as long as ordinary informed consent was given. In plain English, doctors and patients are free to do what doctors and patients are supposed to do – discuss treatment options and proceed when they agree. https://townhall.com/columnists/tednoel/2021/10/19/the-nebraska-ag-has-gone-where-no-man-has-gone-before-n2597638?190 I wish this was the majority opinion in America. Unfortunately I think we are very small minority.
Hey, I'm in Canada and I wish this was the majority opinion everywhere.
“The only way for a reporter to look at a politician is down.”
— H. L. Mencken Wow, Chuck Todd! That is some real truth telling there. I was expecting much more than inflation is out of control. I thought maybe he would talk about changing definition of a vaccine, and how forced vaccination has huge mortality issues. Or how a certain segment of the society is most at risk to covid, but still has a 99% survival rate. Or how paying government money to people at the same income rate as a minimum wage job, and printing fiduciary money at a rate never before seen in history, is causing inflation spikes. The list of government failures could be discussed for six hours on Meet the Press.
Todd also avoided the truth at the heart of the supply chain/ ship traffic jam.
CA's newest environmental regulations have made it impossible for over half of the Semi's in the US (anything over three years old) to drive there. "A New Jerusalem Consulate Will Again Proclaim: Jerusalem Is Not in Israel"
Is there nothing - nothing at all - that your country's current administration cannot somehow manage to bugger up? Don't answer that. (Note also that my remark was not meant as a sneer. Here in Canada, I'm dealing with the depressing reality that our country's only prime minister ever known to have performed in blackface has just been re-elected.) In re: "Electric vehicles certainly are dirty..." A quote from the future--"Senator Bluffenfeel introduces $14B legislation for federal 'Battery Cleanup Corps' 'We can no longer allow Republicans to dispose of the batteries we made them buy in electric vehicles to destroy our world!' "
Maybe Israel ought to solve its own problems.
The US needs to stop getting involved. Israel has been solving its own problems since 1948.
It has also been solving everyone else's problems with innovations in medicine, sciences, IT and robotics (to name just a few areas). "There are currently more than 30 technology companies valued over US$1 billion (unicorn startups) in Israel, more than all of Europe combined." - Wikipedia The US gets excellent value for its relationship with Israel. Neither of your statements matches the facts.
I don't begrudge Israel its success, but the US shouldn't be subsidizing it. Mexico: A Deepening Crisis and Strategic Challenge for the US
https://ceeep.mil.pe/2021/08/05/mexico-a-deepening-crisis-and-strategic-challenge-for-the-us/?lang=en American farmers are having trouble finding replacement tractor tires amid escalating supply chain woes
QUOTE: For whatever reason, critical farming equipment and parts are either not getting produced anymore or not getting delivered to where they need to be, leaving farmers across the heartland in a major bind. “You try to baby your equipment, but we’re all at the mercy of luck right now,” says Cordt Holub, a fourth-generation corn and soybean farmer in Buckingham, Ia, who now locks his machinery up inside his barn every night after thieves robbed hard-to-find tractor parts from a local Deere & Co. dealership. Tractor tires, semiconductors and other vital components needed in the industrial farming sector are just not available like they once were, which threatens the ability of farmers to not only continue planting food but also harvesting it. https://www.naturalnews.com/2021-10-17-american-farmers-replacement-tractor-tires-supply-chain.html The British article attributing the rise in psychosis to lockdowns is likely to be inaccurate. Those diagnosed with Covid show an increase in depressive disorders and anxiety disorders, neurological disorders, and at least in australia, psychotic disorders.
It is good to look for hard numbers and links to studies in such articles, as the search for these often reveals that the studies don't say what the article claims, and the numbers turn out to be impressionistic, My search for what is actually happening reveals a lot of articles predicting that lockdowns are going to cause this or that bad thing, because isolation isn't good for us. It is interesting that for all the people who are complaining that those who take Covid seriously are peddling we're-all-gonna-die narratives, it is they themselves who are actually doing so - but about lockdowns instead. My local Walmart has a parking and charging area for EV's. Right next to it is a fenced in area where the fence is rigged so that you cannot see what is inside. What is inside? Fossil fuel generators to power the outlets to charge the Green EV's. Surprised?
