Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

A leftist group is pushing the theory that the two-parent home represents ‘family privilege’ and creates barriers to equal opportunity, when in reality such families are proven to be better for kids. I'm not quite worried enough about Family Privilege to ask my husband of 33 years for a divorce, but I do denounce myself for Sober Privilege. Maybe I should pay a special income tax rate?
Leftists have always been about destroying the institutions that led to the success of W. Civ. Family being one of the most (if not the most) important one.
This however is not really new. Leftists have long given "extra credit" to college admissions for those minorities coming from a single parent (usually mother). That's supposed to make up for why grades and test scores are so low. Meanwhile, teachers were making the same accommodations, so they already had inflated grades. Westerners should have been more active in addressing attacks earlier. The one parent family, unwed mother plus children from various males, is the norm in Africa. It is an adaptation to a permissive environment that allows single women to support themselves and their children by scratch horticulture and gathering.
The nuclear family is an adaptation to the harsh, unforgiving tundra and taiga south of the Ice Sheets. From the tone of the article, it sounds like Abidin' might be wavering a tad on his mandates. Good.
Pulling the old "Gee Whiz" gambit, hey KiddieZ?
Bwaha! Lolgf ! Green Energy Hitting The Wall?
Not here: I have had both solar electric and solar water. Almost off the grid. Plan to install Tesla wall battery to cover us at night or emergencies. Curious. What type of solar panel are you using? I'm looking to use one for my travel trailer, but am finding to get any sort of serious wattage I would need more square feet than the roof provides.
I will check on panel types. Installed by Durafoam, a local company
"Gradually and Then Suddenly"
QUOTE: We are in the suddenly phase now. All the “progressive” pieces were in place but needed a spark to burn down the house. That spark was the death of George Floyd in late May 2020. What followed was state-sanctioned lawlessness, rioting, and looting; a vicious cultural purge from academia to corporations to the military to historical monuments; gaslighting and burying of news by a corrupt and dishonest mainstream corporate media and Big Tech; and the solidification of our post-truth world where we are required to state things we know to be untrue or with which we disagree in order to avoid social ostracization, where feelings matter more that facts, and where telling facts some people don’t like can get you fired, denounced, and boycotted. . . . . We’re in the collapse phase. You can feel it. There are no credible national institutions left. The medical field, the sciences, public health experts, on down the line are being gutted and losing legitimacy. The military is run at the top by woke clowns. Collapse is not irreversible, but it’s happening in real time. You can feel it. https://legalinsurrection.com/2021/10/legal-insurrection-13th-anniversary-gradually-and-then-suddenly/ VDH and Clarence Thomas...it doesn't get better than that for a good read each day.
CALIFORNIA’S CONTINUING COLLAPSE...only this time it's taking down the whole Country. We now know that the ongoing catastrophe at California ports is being caused by California's pollution regulations regarding large trucks. They passed the California Truck and Bus Regulation and Drayage Truck Regulation which outlawed roughly half of the fleet. California ports are backed up because there aren't enough "legal" trucks to haul off the containers. Way to go, California. Americans favoring a reduced government role...Martin Armstrong pointed out a couple of years back that the cycle of public vs private was turning back to private solutions again. Looking at the failure of institutions in this country it is not a surprise that Americans want to escape the failing institutions, including religious institutions, for private solutions and reforms.
@Indyjonesout there:
Cyclicity is all well and good. But the bureaucracy that sprang up in Washington after FDR's 1932 election hasn't dwindled. The names of some agencies have changed, but many new ones have appeared with every Democrat administration and most Republican ones. And they've done nothing but grow. It's clear to me that FDR broke the Constitution in his first term (1932-36) and we've never repaired it. What's worse, Americans voted overwhelingly four times in a row for this. Molly Hemingway's investigation of Zuck Bucks is interesting, I was wondering how the post-election analysis would address the influence of social media and internet technology. Remember this story?
