Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

You have to hand it to democrats, when it comes to stealing elections, there is no amount of shenanigans that are beneath them. You would think that a law passed by the legislature would need to go back through the legislative process to be changed; you are wrong. With the stroke of a pen, a democrat governor can do what is necessary to ‘elect’ more democrats. After all, Our Democracy (spit) is at stake.
Yeah, I don't think the term "terrified" is the proper term to use for Virginia Democrats, or any Democrats at all for that matter.. They're quite confident that they have a variety of methods they can use to "fortify" the election and this is exactly what they have planned for the midterms next year. Too bad the GOP is the Stupid Party and won't see this coming until it's too late.
QUOTE: Terrified Virginia Democrats Seek to Change Election Laws After Voting Has Already Started B. Hammer: You would think that a law passed by the legislature would need to go back through the legislative process to be changed; you are wrong. The Virginia legislature has granted the governor emergency powers under Virginia Code § 44-146.17. Emergency powers are subject to judicial oversight. It is a strange use of the English language when a situation which has existed for over 18 months constitutes and emergency that requires immediate and extra-legislative action.
Another guy named Dan: It is a strange use of the English language when a situation which has existed for over 18 months constitutes and emergency that requires immediate and extra-legislative action.
Well, B. Hammer appealed to Virginia law, which grants the power to the governor to declare an emergency and specifically includes the power of quarantine. Wide discretion is given in the law to the governor's judgment, but keep in mind that the governor's emergency powers are still subject to judicial review. Delegation of authority from the legislature to the executive with judicial oversight is intrinsic to government. And as the Chief shenanigan master clearly stated: Never let a crisis go to waste.
A laymen reading of the statuette would conclude, form article 1 that: QUOTE: …are in his judgment required to control, restrict, allocate or regulate the use, sale, production and distribution of food, fuel, clothing and other commodities, materials, goods, services and resources under any state or federal emergency services programs. this statuette comes nowhere close to changing election laws. Furthermore, even though the declaration gives these powers to the governor until 2023, (! Are you kidding me?) when football stadiums are filled to capacity every weekend, it sort of demonstrates that the emergency is over. Maybe there is an honest judge, somewhere in Virginia. I won’t hold my breath. B. Hammer: this statuette comes nowhere close to changing election laws.
The court found that it was “fair, adequate, and reasonable” to not require signatures during the November 3, 2020 election. Whether courts will make the same finding during the current phase of the pandemic is not known, but it's certainly not out of the question. B. Hammer: . . . the emergency is over. Maybe there is an honest judge, somewhere in Virginia. Your original argument was that it would require a change in Virginia statute. In fact, Virginia law grants the governor vast powers during a declared emergency, but any emergency orders are subject to judicial review. In any case, the Commonwealth of Virginia has ended its state of emergency, but the locality still remains in under emergency orders. Nor has the governor issued a waiver as yet. Z: to not require {witness} signatures. Voter signatures would still be required.

No, my original argument is that democrats are corrupt. You haven't said anything to disprove that.

Your position was based on the misleading premise that "You would think that a law passed by the legislature would need to go back through the legislative process to be changed; you are wrong." The Virginia legislature has already granted the governor emergency powers.

It's not certain the communities have reached herd immunity, especially with the new variants. Meanwhile, there was a surge in deaths. See Stein et al., Closed but Not Protected: Excess Deaths Among the Amish and Mennonites During the COVID‑19 Pandemic, Journal of Religion and Health 2021: "The excess death rate for Amish/ Mennonites spiked with a 125% increase in November 2020." Where is this article posted. Around central Missouri I know of no Amish or Mennonites that even had Covid much less died from Covid and we are around them at auctions and the Amish/Mennonite stores. Perhaps this is a community of them somewhere.

The whole point is that they are a closed society. Closed society or not this is trashy research of which estimates are based on 2015-2020 OBITUARY DATA to determine excess deaths that they say MAY signal Covid 19 outbreaks. I bet all kinds of "grant" money was passed out to get the published results they wanted. And I saw no mention of where this was done as if it would apply across their entire population in the world.

Notably, the surge in deaths is coincident with increases in deaths due to COVID elsewhere. While we never have perfect data, the study is stronger evidence than "Is not!"

That piece is not data...it is bought and paid for propaganda. Their use of "MAY" is personal opinion and not fact.

Of course it's data. The study specifically tells you how they collected the data. Indeed, you could actually collect the data independently to verify their findings. indyjonesouthere: Their use of "MAY" is personal opinion and not fact. It's a reasonable deduction from the data, including because the excess death trend line follows the COVID death trend line from the broader community.

Re: the left overplaying their hand - this is an evergreen headline, but they always get away with it because there are a lot of die-hard leftists, and also a lot of phony spineless non-leftists, and that means you, closet Biden voters, who capitulate time after time, and don't really care what happens as long as they are insulated. It's like CNN is always losing their audience, but they are here year after year - it is BS, and gaslighting, from which side I am not sure.
Bet you think you're doing God's work stopping by here day in and day out telling us pathetic barnyard brayers how deeply concerned the farmers in the capitols are for our safety and welfare...while they are negotiating a price for our dead hides.
