Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

By now it is clear that all of the measures taken to slow or stop covid were ineffective. It rampaged through locked down, masked, social separated communities and 'free' communities as well. The vaccine does work. It is logical and reasonable to require that getting the vaccine is a prerequisite to work and school. I would add that since having covid also imparts immunity that those who have had covid should be allowed to choose to not vaccinate.
Agree. There is absolutely zero discussion about natural immunity. I had covid and survived. My immune system beat it back in about three days. Covid is certainly a serious threat to some, but to 90% of us, it is not. So why not focus on the 10 or so percent that are at a high risk? This ain’t about covid.
As an aside, I contacted a cruise company and asked them about natural immunity - they won’t let you board with out vaccination papers. I did not expect to receive an answer, but I did. They told me there is no good reason. I thanked them for their honesty, it was very refreshing. B. Hammer: There is absolutely zero discussion about natural immunity.
Perhaps there is no discussion in your peer group, but it is a matter of concern within the medical scientific community. Cavanaugh et al., Reduced Risk of Reinfection with SARS-CoV-2 After COVID-19 Vaccination — Kentucky, May–June 2021, MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep 2021: "those who were unvaccinated against COVID-19 had significantly higher likelihood of reinfection during May and June 2021." Greaney et al., Antibodies elicited by mRNA-1273 vaccination bind more broadly to the receptor binding domain than do those from SARS-CoV-2 infection, Science Translational Medicine 2021: "greater binding breadth means that single RBD mutations have less impact on neutralization by vaccine sera compared to convalescent sera." That's why the CDC is recommending that all eligible persons be vaccinated, regardless of previous SARS-CoV-2 infection status. The Kentucky study has some limitations, per a Yahoo News article "Yet, the study has some limitations. First, the reinfections were confirmed using an antigen test and not the whole genome sequencing needed to confirm that the reinfection was caused by a distinct virus and was not related to the first infection. Second, vaccinated people are less likely to get tested for COVID-19, which could overestimate the relationship between lack of vaccination and reinfection.
Finally, the study has a relatively small sample size of only 738 patients. Smaller sample sizes are more prone to biased results. The study's authors noted that additional studies with “larger populations are warranted to support these findings.”" Regarding the other article, I am assuming the article is referencing the spike protein alone since the vax only targets that particular protein. Whereas natural immunity creates antibodies and T-cells that are targeted to many different aspects of the virus. The much larger Israeli study showed much better protection from future infection. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-08-27/previous-covid-prevents-delta-infection-better-than-pfizer-shot?fbclid=IwAR2dMAN1XVWSqjRnfBsQBWoALPY9a40O3PDCi15QVIX2us2_DAHnq8sK7Pc As usual with all things covid, the truth is not obvious. B'radical: The much larger Israeli study showed much better protection from future infection.
The Israeli study also has a number of confounding factors, such as testing being voluntary, which can skew the results. They also point out that vaccination is still critical, and that even those who have experienced natural infection can benefit from vaccination. In any case , the point is made that natural immunity is an area of concern for the medical community.

It now seems obvious that some of the more radical proclamations from the imposter in the White House are intended to flush out the so-called anti-government types. They are watching all the social media and undoubtedly illegally monitoring private conversations on phones to identify anyone who wants to resist the government mandates. Incredible how quickly we went from a constitutional republic to 1939 Germany. What's next for our fascists leaders? Someone has suggested "camps" for those who don't toe the line. That's: "camps" not "concentration camps". But what's the difference? And they are serious!
On a slightly unrelated note the Arizona vote audit has verified massive voter fraud. So massive that it is both conceivable and likely that Trump won Arizona by 200,000 plus votes AND that the newly elected Arizona senator lost by as many votes. So... what next? A do over? Nothing will happen, It's almost a year later. No one is going to change the election results, it would upset all the people who don't want to see Trump twitters. Another shameless plug for Mark Steyn, always worth a listen. Lastly I have a slight idea how some middle class 5th century Western Roman felt as the barbarians kept coming and not very much was done to keep them out. All the old virtues had died out.
I agree that our leaders/politicians and courts won't correct this grievous error. But if they do not it will install blatant election stealing forever and we will never again have elected leaders held responsible by the citizens. Instead we will have fascism and everything that goes with that. And THAT will require/mandate armed insurrection. Our history and even our laws require no less.
It's hard to read Vanderleun's notes on 9/11 and resolve that with what's happening in our country today. On 9/11 I became massively angry. Today, what I feel is despair.
Sooner or later the terrorists will acquire an atomic weapon and smuggle it into the U.S. to a large city and detonate it. I think we have always known that at some point this will happen. This will be a 1000 times worse than 9/11 was. In many ways it's unimaginable. It may well set of a full scale global nuclear war. Ironically the alternative to that would be even worse for the U.S. Again I will say that this is most likely inevitable, not merely possible or even probable it will one day happen. What then?
Also, it is most likely that one of those many Afghans we recently brought to the U.S. and released into our cities will be instrumental in committing this terror attack. I can only add that if and when this happens I hope the terrorists pick DC because that will minimize the harm to our country and in fact probably result in far superior reaction to the attack than would happen if our president, all our congress, NSA and CIA were to survive as they would if LA or NY City were the target. But, we won't get to pick the target. The Biden Administration and all of its followers govern in a fog and dream of a world being 'woke'. But the Taliban, by their simple ruthlessly effective actions, are returning the meaning of the word 'woke' to the world. They are awake.
Who will awaken? The Taliban are the Honey Badgers of humanity, and they won't give a sh*t one way or another. Joe Bidens plan...This is not the Joe Biden administration. This is the JObama administration. I will stand with Islam. The disastrously inept retreat from Affy was a planned disaster that left plenty of armaments behind as well as tradable lives to be bargained like Bowie Bergdahl. Whether we call it the third way, NWO, or build back better it is using chaos, confusion, crime, and collusion to fundamentally change the politics of the US. What is left to do? Drive food prices up, start food shortages, and collapse the markets. Not hard to do with the current secretary of agriculture and the federal reserve. Just use the virus to lock down the country and hope to stifle the rebellion.
re Joe Biden’s Plan for Forced Vaccinations for American Workers Does Not Include Illegal Aliens
It also doesn't include the employees of the USPS. Further evidence that vaccine mandates have nothing to do with science and everything to do with politics. feeblemind: It also doesn't include the employees of the USPS.
Technically not federal employees, USPS employees are not under the executive order concerning federal employees, but are still under the OSHA guidelines. feeblemind: Further evidence that vaccine mandates have nothing to do with science and everything to do with politics. As your premise was false, does that mean your views have nothing to do with science but everything to do with politics? Z: As your premise was false...
You mean the premise that Biden's vaccine mandate, besides forcing American workers to be vaccinated while exempting illegal aliens, that USPS workers are also exempt? You're right. Feeblemind forgot to mention members of Congress and their staff. Presumably, that would also include, as is the case now, White House staff. mudbug: forcing American workers to be vaccinated
Under the new OSHA guidelines, workers do not have to be vaccinated, but can opt for weekly testing. mudbug: while exempting illegal aliens Undocumented aliens are covered by OSHA regulations. mudbug: USPS workers are also exempt? USPS workers are covered by OSHA regulations. mudbug: members of Congress and their staff Congress is not covered by OSHA, because OSHA is an executive agency. A vaccine mandate is being discussed in both Congressional chambers. Members of Congress, their staffs will be exempt from Biden's federal vaccine mandate

That's right. The Executive can't regulate Congress or the Judiciary. However, the Executive can regulate White House employees, and they are covered by the president's executive order.

COVID Rules and Regulations are the Means to The End, They are Not The End Itself
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2021/09/10/covid-rules-and-regulations-are-the-means-to-the-end-they-are-not-the-end-itself/ Indeed! Another good piece is by Archbishop Vigano. I think the speech was covered by insidethevatican.com news source. I think it is titled as his #100 speech and covers much the same ground but also the international view.
" Taliban Bans Women From Playing Sports…" US has effectively done the same by making "trans women" the only ones that can win at any competitive sports.
They even beat the Taliban at it by a year or two. "Joe Biden’s Plan for Forced Vaccinations for American Workers Does Not Include Illegal Aliens" Well, those aren't part of the government registered workforce, are they? |
