We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The terms continually downgrade in shock value, and so have to be intensified in order to satisfy the emotional needs of the accusers. The intellectual content is irrelevant. Racist, white supremacist, white nationalist, eugenicist..., each becomes progressively less meaningful. They are all just fill-in-the-blank "Bad person. Topic: race." I don't know what comes next. There are a lot of creative people working on what they believe is the worst insult possible for those they disagree with, so the well may be running dry and they have to switch to some other tactic. I am not optimistic about what people desperate for attention will do to have an effect.
This is a subcategory of liberal argument in general, to focus on how bad or stupid the other person is rather than address content. Much of liberal political commentary is best understood in terms of high school status. Maureen Dowd, Frank Rich...those people ceased relying on intellectual content decades ago and made their careers out of sneering and condescension in a way calculated to appeal to Manhattan and Manhattan-envious liberals (The 12th-graders dictating to the 10th-graders). I suppose it's not that easy. I couldn't do it myself, as my antennae are not set to that frequency, and there are thousands who tried to be them and failed.
