We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
..."Eric Adams is almost certain to win the November mayoral election, but he won’t take office until January — which leaves him facing a challenging five-month stretch as he seeks to retain (or, better, build) momentum without actually holding power."
So if I were the kind of person that watched what political leaders actually do, instead of what they say, I might conclude that population's role in actually selecting their leaders has de-facto been de-prioritized, and relegated to a mere process milestone on the long, winding political path to power. New York has already decided who the next mayor will be; the rest is mere formality.
Nice to know. I guess the citizens are comfortable with the principles involved. Next up: Gavin Newsome's comfortable re-election.
St. Louis mask mandate...I am still looking for clarification but I do believe that the State of Missouri AG is taking St. Louis and the county to court as about a month ago the state legislature passed a law requiring such jurisdictions to hold a vote of the citizens in order to require masks. If the locals vote to wear masks I don't really care...they can also mandate diapers if they wish.
Funny thing - ran the numbers today, and though the positive test numbers are UP - the death numbers aren't rising, and they haven't gone up appreciably US-wide since before the 4th of July weekend. In fact, in Georgia they've gone DOWN to single-digits.
If this Delta variant's supposed to be lethal, I think the media can't tell the difference between 'lethal' and 'lethargic'. Because that Delta's really slacking off on the fatality front.
If Substack, a handful of democrats daring to resist the narrative, is our last hope for free speech, free speech is dead. You dear reader, are the last hope for free speech. Be brave and say what is on your mind, wherever and with whom ever you are with. Freedom ain’t free. It requires sacrifice. Freedom requires grit and boldness. Freedom requires: Our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor. Freedom requires that you boldly go about your business, observing the Lord’s commandments and doing His will, not the will of the woke crowd. America was not built by a meek people that did as they were told.
