Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Yes, they will open the door to the bank after hours and usher you. You sit in the bank manager’s chair. Then they change you for bank robbery.
If only they were the hilariously incompetent Keystone Cops. Actually, this is deeply ominous. The Capitol Police are completely exempt from the Freedom of Information Act and completely outside Executive Branch control, answering only to the leaders of Congress (most of whom are highly partisan Democrats that want "just us" rather than justice). Pelosi may be creating her own NKVD (the USSR's People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs) that forced opponents of the regime into the gulags. If Biden follows through on his threat to go door-to-door to confront people declining the COVID vaccine, the effort could well be led by the Capitol Police.
Recall when 0bama called for a national police force to be funded and manned at the level of the US Army. This is something they have wanted for a long time.
The panic over national police makes sense only to the conspiracy nuts who are always on the lookout for something to panic over loss of muh freedom. A few federal agencies like the FBI and Capitol Police enforce federal law, the U.S. Attorneys prosecute violators. This is as close to a "national police" as it's going to get. Every jurisdiction in this country has its own set of criminal laws and procedures and they are all different. It is constitutionally impossible to preempt the vast majority of state law.
The click bait video in the link is the usual kind of what-if and ignorant speculation. I have an extremely American idea. Why don’t we work on rescinding the millions of laws and regulations on the books, therefore, no need for even more police. Let us live up to the motto: Land of Free.
Back when John Major was PM of England, he worked on getting rid of obsolete laws. There were thousands of them. I initially thought that was a nice thing to do but probably not worth the effort. I now see the wisdom of that effort.
Has it made a difference over there? Not that I'm aware, but we might not be visible good things that happen but bad things that don't. Education Union to Target Those Opposing CRT: Florida Mom Says ‘Bring It On’: Defenestrate the Ed. Union. "Defenestrate: To throw out a window (no less than 20 feet above the ground).
Pile them up. Harsh? They've EARNED it! Ahhh, Chicago. Doing it's own auto-da-fe. US ‘could send troops into Haiti’ to prevent civil war after bloody assassination of president Jovenel Moïse: Let's NOT. Why are WE expected to prevent civil war in Haiti? Why can't Haitians sort out their own dysfunctions for once? Aside from the incredibly corrupt Clintons, we have zero interests in Haiti that are worth sending our troops there.
Xi Jinping Is Mobilizing China for War, Possibly With Nukes
QUOTE: China is fast becoming a military state. . . . China in recent weeks has sent tens of thousands of troops to its disputed border with India in Ladakh, high in the Himalayas. Beijing looks as if it is preparing for a full-scale invasion of Indian territory. . . . it looks as if Chinese military planners are thinking of using nuclear weapons in an offensive capacity. China's flag officers and political leaders have in public threatened to use their arsenal in this way. . . . In any event, Xi Jinping in his bellicose July 1 speech promised to "crack heads and spill blood" of those standing in the way of what are, in essence, his plans to take territory under the control of others. . . . Lately, Xi's references in public pronouncements have become unmistakable, and his subordinates have been clear that Xi believes that everyone outside China owes him obedience. Xi, while spouting tianxia-like language and bellicose words, has been getting the Chinese people ready for war. On July 1, he talked about foreigners meeting a "wall of steel built with the flesh and blood of 1.4 billion Chinese people." https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/17547/china-mobilizing-war#.YObOxCYNeO4.twitter We already have a corrupted FBI leadership that operates on a national level. Do we really need a corrupted, unauthorized capital police that operate nationally? The next Trump presidency should return the residential portions of DC back to the original states, disband the capital and park police, and use military MP's as the sole law enforcement in, what will be, a political district.
As far as I can tell, Haiti has been in turmoil and near-chaos for some time and the assassination of the president doesn't seem to have moved the needle that much. (Certainly not as much an ominous and foreboding threat as a disorderly group of protesters acting like jackasses in the Capitol would be.) If the US were to suddenly use this as an excuse to move in troops "to prevent a civil war" I'm going to have to guess that I've got a real good idea who exactly assassinated the president.
Agreed Jerry.
Recall we occupied Haiti for about 19 years. QUOTE: Due to civil disturbances and lack of a stable friendly government, the United States occupied and ruled Haiti by means of a military government between 1915 and 1934. https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/haiti19.htm Why would we want to occupy the country again? It's a good thing for Haiti that Chelsea isn't getting married again.
But people in DC need to show that we CARE. That's the most important thing. More dead people is an irrelevant and unnoticed side effect. Everything outside of DC is just a counter in a board game to them, not anything real.
Say what you will about Twitter, it forces the user to be concise with their thoughts. Here is what I thought was a very good thread, condensed by the Thread Reader app to a quick read.
