We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I challenge the AMA to find any place -- any -- in which so-called indigenous people were not displaced by people displaced from somewhere else. No people -- none -- sits on land "that has been ours forever," to quote the often quoted Native American Indian. You have to wonder -- for whom is the AMA writing?
Like virtually all large lobbying groups, the AMA leadership cares about physicians only to the extent that it can coerce them to pay dues. The leaders are a self-serving, self-righteous bunch of "union" bosses.
They are beholden to the Democrat party and use the useful idiots (dues paying doctors) to line their own pockets. Any physician paying dues to the AMA is a fool.
I am guessing that it's only going to end when the all these Leftist nitwits that are making demands for atonement through cleansing sacrifices, are met with the retort: "You First", by people who are no longer smiling and nodding. When it happens once, it will happen everywhere.
"Equity" has become another of those words that reverses its meaning whenever it gets an adjective. Such as racial, economic, or social Justice now mean injustice. Health equity will now mean inequity.
Words get captured and turned all the time, but it is fair to keep pointing it out.

Considering what the Bureau of Indian Affairs has done for the health of the descendants of the First Immigrants and Conquerors, I'd say another useless organization like the AMA can't hurt the already damaged. You didn't think that late comers slaughtered/absorbed or were slaughtered/absorbed by those who came before, did you?
Just like Dr Bliss, I'm a specialist MD and have never paid dues nor been a member of the AMA. In fact, I don't know any members at all nor can I remember any other physician ever mentioning the AMA. I suspect that the rank and file are the primary care providers, i.e. internists, f.p's, and pediatricians only?
Interesting. In other countries it's pretty much mandatory (if not legally required) to be a member of the AMA's sister organisations there if you want to hold a job as a medical professional at all.
They're the ones who decide who gets a license to practice where, so without their consent you're not going to ever run a practice.
