Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Charging electric cars at night sounds like it would match perfectly with nuclear plants that offer 24/7 base load. Unfortunately the dogma of green religion labels nuclear power icky beyond redemption.

I'm laughing all the way to the gas station. PG&E could fix this in a few weeks with demand pricing and instant internet notifications for price changes, which would enable "bottom up" behavior change, no Electric Big Brother required. Nah, that's crazy talk. "I'm Not Going Back To Work": Indiana Residents Sue After Governor Nixes Unemployment Benefits Here in Texas, that means you will be going back to stand in line at the Food Bank. Probably will work out that way in Indiana, too. One hopes the staff of Indiana Legal Services wind up in that line as well. Ikea Atlanta Juneteenth menu changed after blowback over plans to serve fried chicken, watermelon Hey Atlanta! If you're not going to eat all that fried chicken, can I have some? Ikea's menu looks delish to me. And no chitlins in it makes it even better.
Hell, I've eaten that stuff since I was a child and I'm a cakuus ,,,uh ,,. caccis ,,, uh... white as a ghost. Me too! Hope they don't decide to ban us from eating "their" foods.
QUOTE: "The judge's observations about the specific segment at issue — in which Maddow accused a competitor of being “literally paid Russian propaganda" — was even more damning. Maddow's own viewers, ruled the court, not only expect but desire that she will not provide the news in factual form but will exaggerate and even distort reality in order to shape her opinion-driven analysis.” And therein lies the rub, explaining all the defamation lawsuits against media outlets. They can smear you 'till the cows come home, but you only have legal recourse if they lie about solid facts. A very good City Journal article on Advocate Journalism and the 1619 project: https://www.city-journal.org/journalism-advocacy-over-reporting Legacy media lost their hold over advertising revenue and made a conscious decision to veer away from fact-based reporting toward advocacy. But: Most consumers of the media still hold on to antiquated notions of journalism's integrity, and the media is happy to hide behind it. It's an arbitrage: Wringing the last bit of value out of a former reputation while discarding its principles for practical purposes, and playing the Confirmation Bias game for new revenue. re: Black parents furious with Critical Race Theory
The link goes to a stub. Here is the full column at Newsweek: Listen to Black Parents Furious With Critical Race Theory | Opinion There are two videos in the Newsweek column which are worth watching, one by a black woman named Keisha King (2:06) and one by an unnamed but passionate black man (2:47). The Biden administration is appointing radical leftist and Marxists to the highest level of government. First I thought it was TDS and anything anti-Trump. But I now think it is actually a stealth Marxist revolution. Clearly Biden is not in charge and whoever is in charge is not pro-America; pro-constitution.
The light worker and his minions are behind the curtain.
I’m Not Going Back To Work
QUOTE: People dealing with stress and not making enough money, well they resort to crime," he said, adding "...Finances is always key in any relationship. When finances dwindle, there's an increase in domestic violence. - Rev. Green I’ve been hearing this all my life. Perhaps it’s true, from people that already have a disposition towards crime. But isn’t it part of the job of a Reverend, to lead his flock on the straight and narrow path? The road to destruction has a wide gate and a broad road, it says so right there in the Bible. The Bible also says that those who don’t work, don’t eat. Praise the Lord for the blessings that you have. Maybe do your job Rev. Green, instead of shilling for a gravy train lawsuit. Oh, activism is the good Reverends’ job. Electricity and water shortages.
Cali will be rioting soon. And they brought it on themselves. The Loudoun County school board got tired of hearing from their constituents and ended the meeting. But they then declared the meeting to be an unlawful gathering and a couple of the citizens were arrested. Can they do that? Can a school board simply declare a meeting to be an unlawful gathering and then people get charged with crimes? Could I declare a meeting to be unlawful? Can just anyone do this? Where is the authority come from to allow this?
I would say it's a sign that the battle is truly being engaged. If one is planning on attending any kind of civic meeting (School Board, City Council, etc) then you need to come prepared with legal advice. Know the Robert's Rules, or the rules governing the venue, and network with others to ensure they know them too. Know how to call BS on arbitrary calls when they occur (sometimes a meeting chair will call an abrupt end in a way that is outside the rules, just to escape). Do not let the transgressions stand.
It will come to a point where it pays to network in a fellow citizen with legal expertise, and maybe even shop a sympathetic judge ahead of time in order to ensure swift resolution of matters arising. Good advice but I'd skip Robert's Rules. They have no force of law, are honored as much in the breach as observance by most groups, and since you're likely to be just an observer at the meeting you have no authority to raise points of order or parliamentary procedure. Assuming it's a government body focus on the Open Meetings laws in your area, and be familiar with the commenting policies of the group you're addressing so you don't get tripped up by procedure.

Democrats' voter ID debacle: CNN, the CRAP "News" nutwork. A Court Ruled Rachel Maddow's Viewers Know She Offers Exaggeration and Opinion, Not Facts (It left out "lies".) Koreans love both fried chicken (consumed along with lots of beer, chicken & beer is called "chimek)" and watermelon. Chimek places are all over Korea. Watermelon is a favorite dessert.
Obviously, someone is guilty of cultural appropriation!
Also Filipinos. They like it too salty for my taste, though.
The history of fried chicken is an interesting read. It appears the Scots also had a hand in it. If you have a few minutes google "The surprising origin of Fried chicken".
Gen. Mattis on military justice. Military justice does not function in a "woke" military. The generals need to be held accountable for their "wokeness".
Biden's administration has just declared war on guns. Instead of going after criminals they are targeting gun shops. I have seen this before. They either send in a phony buyer with some obscure criminal record who fakes his application and when they application is approved by the national system and the shop sells a gun to him the ATF brown shirts go in and take away the owners license. The alternative method is they go over every gun sale for the last few years with a fine tooth comb looking for mistakes and applications where the buyer lied. Once they find one they take away the owners license to sell guns.
This isn't about preventing criminals from getting guns or preventing gun violence. It is targeted at gun stores and honest gun owners. They could fix Chicago's murders and gun crimes in a matter of days. Implement stop and frisk in the dangerous parts of town and require the prosecutors to do their job. It's too late for "stop and frisk". Any such operation on an effective scale will lead inevitably to violent confrontations and subsequent riots if the police respond with force - no matter how justified they might be in any particular instance. And the city leadership would just as inevitably line up against the police.
The ugly truth is, the Left wouldn't have it any other way. Now they can keep the focus on "gun violence" as an excuse to further trample individual liberties in general and erode the 2nd Amendment in particular. Chicago is so out of control that it needs major law enforcement action. The alternative is unthinkable.
However I do think that we will see the alternative and it is by intent. They let the covers slip when the mayor called for federal help in the form of gin control. Does anyone believe she just thought of that? No! It is part of the far left plan to force gun control down our throat. Make no mistake the politicians are allowing, even pushing for more and more deaths in these cities so they can bring it to a crisis which of course then must be fixed by radical actions. Let that sink in. The Democrats are allowing, even encouraging the killing just so they can take away your constitutional rights. THAT is how radical they have become. Amtrak - Trains are romantic and part of our history. They are also only useful for passenger service in very specific circumstances, which are seldom met by any of the running lines. There is a population density that is necessary for any station to be worth it. It varies some because of the cost of the station and fuel considerations, but the number is high. And it must be every stop on the route meeting the standard. Once a line is in place and a train is running, everyone along the way feels it would only cost a little bit more to get the train to stop there as well, but this is emphatically not so. When they try to sell you numbers that show how much it would help businesses near the station, such as restaurants or retail, know that it basically only helps those businesses within 0.25 miles, and that is at the expense of other nearby facilities. There is no overall gain.
I've taken three longer distance trips over the last seven years, and they are fun enough if you are going very close to where the train goes - otherwise they are inconvenient. And they would not be worth it if I were bearing the real cost myself. The subsidy makes the minor adventure possible. Nearly all passenger lines are money-losers. Come on, man, if Ikea had offered a menu of pot roast, mashed potatoes, noodles and green beans, the woke crowd would be wailing "white supremacy". You know this is true.
