Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Greenfield: THE WHITENESS OF WOKE
Lots of good stuff there. Building a Marxist flavor of racism makes elites Marxists and everyone else racist. It was a short trip for most of our elites. He must have been really drunk to step on the wrong verb like that!
Glad to see California clearing up their surplus kindling, now that summer is here. Of course, now that summer is here, so are the......Rollin' Blackouts!
https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-06-16/third-day-of-heat-wave-southern-california …”The California Independent System Operator, which monitors power lines across the state, initially said Wednesday that the grid was stable and that the state would have enough electricity to meet demand. Just hours later, however, the agency issued a Flex Alert for Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m. to encourage reduced energy usage because of the strain on the state’s grid.” …”Residents are advised to avoid lowering the thermostat during those hours and to complete tasks involving high amounts of energy beforehand, such as using major appliances and charging devices and electric cars.” That Trump fellow, he sure is being proven right on a whole host of issues. What’s next? The election results? The FBI was the lead on the capital riots? Hilary Clinton should be in jail? The media is the enemy of *free people? The list is getting long.
*If you don’t like Liberty, you probably love the US media. I really don’t think you can find a group of humans living at any time in history, that doesn’t have slavery attached to them. It seems to be a natural condition. 85% of Liberal Students Think Professors Should Be Reported for Offensive Comments: Clearly, they are NOT "Liberal"; fascist is what they are.
What If the Media Had Told the Truth? Five MSM Lies for Which Trump Has Been Vindicated, and the Damage They Caused: They'd have been shot at sunrise. Has the average member of the press corps ever actually met anyone in America? They'd never have lowered themselves to do THAT. Could Israel Replicate Its Syrian Military Strategy in Gaza?: Certainly. The Palis will never, Never, NEVER learn. They won't get smart; they won't get rich. If you can report someone for offensive comments and get them fired or otherwise in some kind of trouble who would be exempt from such tactics. Well, we know of course the left would be exempt and this would be used against enemies of fascism.
I feel that it is cultural appropriation for non-whites to wear clothes. cultural appropriation: the unacknowledged or inappropriate adoption of the customs, practices, ideas, etc. of one people or society by members of another and typically more dominant people or society. Who do I complain to? Slouching Toward Post-Journalism
QUOTE: The old media had needed happy customers. The goal of post-journalism, according to Mir, is to “produce angry citizens.” The August 2016 article marked the point of no return in the spiritual journey of the New York Times from newspaper of record to Vatican of liberal political furor. While the impulse originated in partisan herd instinct, the discovery of a profit motive would make the change irrevocable. Rutenberg professed to find the new approach “uncomfortable” and, “by normal standards, untenable”—but the fault, he made clear, lay entirely with the “abnormal” Trump, whose toxic personality had contaminated journalism. . . . Yet what looked like journalistic failure was, in fact, an astonishing post-journalistic success. The intent of post-journalism was never to represent reality or inform the public but to arouse enough political fervor in readers that they wished to enter the paywall in support of the cause. This was ideology by the numbers—and the numbers were striking. Digital subscriptions to the New York Times, which had been stagnant, nearly doubled in the first year of Trump’s presidency. By August 2020, the paper had 6 million digital subscribers—six times the number on Election Day 2016 and the most in the world for any newspaper. The Russian collusion story, though refuted objectively, had been validated subjectively, by the growth in the congregation of the paying faithful. https://www.city-journal.org/journalism-advocacy-over-reporting So now that the single point of hatred, Trump, is no longer living 24/7 rent free in their brains, whom do they focus their hate on? Before Trump, there was just to many targets for a single focus. Can the hatred be constantly fanned to keep the subscribers onboard? Will they flame out? Do CNN ratings offer any clues?
Good question B.Hammer. It will be hard to refocus a level of hate as intense as the one was for Trump.
As you alluded to CNN, it also leads one to wonder if their subscriptions will crater as they come up for renewal? I would guess that the business model is here to stay. Give the audience what they want to read as opposed to, well, reality. Just keep feeding them The Narrative and hope they stay fired up. They have two targets I can think of off hand. System Racism with their subtexts of police hatred and CRT, and they seem to be trying to substitute conservatives in general as a target for hate in place of Trump. Will that be enough to keep the audience engaged? Dunno. It all works pretty well until the model that is called 'journalism' is turned toward something that could actually affect your health by misinforming one's choices, or even actually lying about it for political gain. You know, like having 20-somethings censoring trained experienced medical professionals trying to confer information on what works to save lives, and why - and instead enforcing conformity by eliminating information that conflicts with the preferred party line.
Post-journalism. Reminds one of the term, post-mortem. |
